I enjoyed my stay. Not only was the property peaceful and pretty, but the people that own it are as just as wonderful and caring on the inside. That was the icing on the cake that blew my expectations away. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Great Property

My stay was wonderful. The house was very clean and well put together upon my arrival and the hosts in the main house are great people. There is no full kitchen but the hot plate, propane grill, and toaster oven are enough in my experience. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay for any amount of time within a 20 minute drive of either Troutman, Mooresville, or Statesville this is the place.

The cottage was just wonderful. I loved the rocking chair front porch every night to just sit back and enjoy the peace. For some much needed rest and a break from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place. Thank you to the owners for sharing this very special place. Stephanie R.

Charming place

We had an amazing time at the cottage in Troutman. The place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. It was great, clean and had everything needed for restful stay. The bed was very comfortable. It’s located in the beautiful area, on the charming farm with horses right outside of historic Troutman. It’s also very close to Lake a Norman state park. The area is very quiet and relaxing. In the evenings, we enjoyed watching synchronized fireflies flickering. Martin and Heather are extremely friendly and delightful hosts. Would absolutely recommend staying there! We are looking forward to staying there again soon!

The Perfect Place at the Perfect Time

This hidden gem in the middle of the country was the perfect home base for us as we helped our daughter through a move. Heather and Martin were ideal hosts, helpful and accommodating, but giving us plenty of space, as we were trying to keep relatively quarantined. They even allowed us to stay on when our moving date changed. The cottage is small, but has everything you need. In the evenings, we watched the lightning bugs and listened to crickets. We woke most mornings to see a horse grazing right outside our window. Relaxing, picturesque and affordable!

Lovely Serenity

This cottage was home for four months and I enjoyed every minute there. This house has everything you need for you me stay, but by far it’s greatest asset is the beautifully bucolic setting of the horse farm. Waking each morning to the sights and sounds so of the horses in the treed corral was so relaxing and heartwarming. Further, my hosts were exceptionally friendly and attended to every need I had. This is perfect for a single or a couple for a short stay, or make it your home for longer as I did. Do not pass up this opportunity for peace and quiet. If you’re traveling with horses it is the ideal spot. Thank you so much H & M for making me feel like family.

Cozy cottage overlooking peaceful horse pastures

Sweet cottage overlooking rolling pastures with grazing horses. Cottage was clean and thoughtfully decorated. As my husband said “Everything you need and nothing you don’t.” Great place for a peaceful getaway to reboot and relax. We’ll definitely be back.

It was as advertised, meeting our expectations, and in some aspects exceeding them.

The location was great for us, a farm setting, secluded, away from the traffic, yet only minutes from (10-15 minutes) shopping and restaurants. Its slightly larger than a studio, lacking a stove and decent dining table, we ate out most evenings. The setting is so serene, quiet, among pastures, horses very peaceful. Parking was plentiful. I would recommend it for a nice weekend getaway.

Cute Comfortable Cottage

I enjoyed staying at the Retreat at Flying Change Farm. It was a quick drive to Davidson College (where my son was at soccer camp) as well as Lake Norman State Park, which has several options for recreation. The cottage itself is well equipped with cooking implements to allow for 'eating in' if desired, and the furniture is comfortable (I did not fold out the sofa bed so cannot attest to its comfort level, as I found the sofa itself to be comfortable and big enough for sleeping). I enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the cottage and its surroundings; the front porch rocking chairs were a pleasure for sitting and enjoying the evenings when things cooled down. All in all, a pleasant experience.

a comfortable retreat in a beautiful setting

I came to get some time away from what has been a difficult year, and this cottage was exactly what I needed. It's perfect for one person, although I think two would be fine there as well. The furniture is comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could need so that you can cook there and not always eat out, and it's great to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and horses. It is easy to get to great sight-seeing in places such as Lake Norman, Davidson, or even Charlotte. There are stores, restaurants, and even a winery in easy driving distance. I highly recommend the Davidson Farmer's Market and a hike at the lake! I plan to come back again, maybe next time I'm working on a writing project.

Great little place far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to local amenities.

This is a great little studio cottage surrounded by horse enclosures and fields. I'm staying here for a month to train and compete in the Masters National bike races May 24-28, 2016. I ride the local roads, which are narrow, but there isn't much traffic. The owner is friendly and helpful, and for a couple or single person, this is ideal in that it has everything for preparing meals, no noisy neighbors and netflix/internet connection for keeping in touch with the outside world :) . All in all, a great place to relax or engage a favorite pastime.
