The internet pictures here on VRBO do not do this place justice. The location is spectacular, directly on a gorgeous and mostly private beach. If you want a boring beach that is merely a stretch of sand, this is not the place for you. This place still has soft, sandy areas to lounge or wade in, but there are even more pebble-beach areas where you can hunt for shells, sand dollars and hermit crabs, and there are larger rocks you can climb across, including an island or two with even bigger rocks that you can easily walk to at low tide. In short, this spot has it all! You can make a bonfire on the rocks, although we were so busy going hiking we didn't even have time to do this. The cottage is well stocked with pre-cut firewood and also has the perfect huge fireplace, if you have some rainy or colder weather. While sitting in the comfy furniture on the back deck, or grilling on the grill out there, you can look straight out at the ocean and surrounding islands. The views are absolutely gorgeous everywhere. Kids can play in the large, flat yard, surrounded by lovely flowering bushes, wildflowers, and forested area. My husband saw seals swimming out in the bay, and one morning I had that "being watched" sensation and looked out at the trees to find a doe watching me brush teeth. Inside the cottage is decorated perfectly for a beach/ocean home - every room has cute things, and they have supplied some very interesting books about the history of the area and the lobster fishing, which we read on the one rainy day. The kitchen is well equipped, including of course everything you need to boil and eat a lobster. There is one bedroom with two small twin beds, which were perfect for our younger kids, and this room also contains the washer/dryer and is closest to the larger bathroom with bathtub. Across from their room is a good room for adults with larger bed and its own private half bath. So it's a convenient set-up for traveling with kids. The loft upstairs has one twin and one full bed - I wouldn't put very small kids up there alone, as the stairs are open with outer handrail, but this is perfect for older kids. There is good, solid wifi access. The owners have provided all sorts of things like laundry detergent, fancy soap and shampoos from a great local company, and so on. You don't have to bring much; it is more like a hotel than a rental cabin in that respect. Terrific restaurants, shops, and hiking are all nearby, but you might not want to leave, ever
