About this property

Lakefront home on Lake Rabun with huge boathouse and lots of patio space.

This cabin sits on a wooded lot above a central, but peaceful cove on beautiful Lake Rabun. Once you arrive, drop your bags, open the French doors and walk onto the spacious screened-in porches surrounded by tall trees and mountain laurel. You can hear the waterfall flowing at the end of the cove. Breathe-in fresh mountain air and let your vacation begin!

---

***Before you request to book, please know that this is family-friendly cove and home. We love our neighbors and ask our guests to respect the Lake Rabun community. No parties or large gatherings of any kind in the house or on the boathouse. No late-night noise. No inappropriate behavior. Property is patrolled by Mountain Lakes Security.***

---

THE LAYOUT:

SLEEPING OVERVIEW = 3 double beds in private rooms, a bunk room with four bunks and two sleeping lofts. NOTE: the lofts are not ideal for younger children because of the height and vertical ladders;
UPPER LEVEL = kitchen, dining/living area, screened porch, 2 bedrooms with balconies, 2 bathrooms, bunk room and sleeping lofts;
LOWER LEVEL = a bedroom, bathroom, large comfortable living area with television, games/books and an adjacent laundry room. French doors lead to a screened porch with a ping pong table and corn hole boards.
---

LAKE ACCESS:

About 30 steps through the trees will take you down to the large 2-level boathouse, which is stocked with floats and canoes. There is very little boat traffic in this cove making it a peaceful setting for swimmers and paddlers. Hall’s Marina is just across the lake and visible from the boathouse.

---

PARKING:

There is parking for approximately 3 cars. NOTE: the driveway is very steep. Drivers will probably want to put their vehicle in a low gear. This is not an ideal driveway for large vans or trailers. ***Please take this into consideration before making travel plans.***

---

NEARBY:

Lakemont Village is an 7-minute drive. Hall’s Marina, Rabun Inn and Max’s Lakeside are a 10-minute drive (or an even shorter boat ride). Clayton has fun shopping and great dining options and is a 20 minute drive away. Explore nearby state parks, waterfalls, hiking trails, orchards, drive-in movie, distillery and wineries or stay at home enjoying the beauty of Lake Rabun!

Love This Place!!!

We had such a momentous time the first time we were there, we had to go back! The house is beautifully situated in the woods on Lake Rabun. It’s centrally located with lots to do in Clayton and lovely boutiques in Lakemont. Can’t wait to go back!

Family Weekend on Lake Rabun

The Fish Camp was a great weekend retreat for our family. We enjoyed fishing, the Foxfire Festival nearby, the beauty of the lake and mountains, and quiet family time. The home was very well set up for a long weekend retreat with everything needed. It was well-kept and very clean. One of our best VRBO stays anywhere.

Great Lake location and house!

We have been coming to Lake Rabun for years and this was our first visit to this house. The location in the cove across from Halls was perfect. The boat house was well equipped and we loved the kayaks. The house was very comfortable and well stocked. The waterfall nearby supplied a very nice soundtrack. Overall a great vacation and would definitely love to come back.

Peaceful

Owner was everything good and truly kind to our family. Thank you! The property was clean, stocked with everything we needed and in a beautiful location. Enjoyed every day breathing in fresh air and being on the water. Clayton was only about 10 minutes away and had restaurants and groceries. Being in a place like this reminds me of how grateful I am to enjoy a beautiful part of this Earth and share with kind people.

Relaxing and rejuvenating

Our family really looks forward to this annual get away up at the lake. It is truly our time to unwind as a family and just enjoy this wonderful property. The outside living space at the dock is our favorite! They have many outdoor supplies to keep the kids busy all day. We also enjoy the screened in porches when daylight ends! We will certainly be back next summer!

Loved it!

We booked this house for a family gathering. There was more than enough room for 7 adults and 2 children. The boathouse was great! We spent many hours relaxing in the lake floating on rafts and paddle boards. We found this house had many things to keep people of all ages occupied. Ping pong, corn hole, board games, puzzles, as well as toys for the lake. We had an amazing time. Would love to go back!

Wonderful Lake Home!

We had so much fun at this house on the lake. We have been going to Lake Rabun for 17 years and this, by far, has been the best house we have ever stayed in. Wendy, the owner, was so nice right from the very beginning to the end of our vacation. I didn't want to leave this cabin! We will certainly be back. Honestly, I didn't want to leave this review because I wanted to keep it our little secret - but couldn't do that to the best owner we've ever dealt with! 😂 This cabin is amazing and has everything you could possibly need or want in a vacation home.

Beautiful!

Beautiful home, great location right on the lake, about a ten minute drive from the main road. Kitchen was nicely stocked with everything needed, there were plenty of games, and lots of outdoor space to enjoy the scenery. I loved the sitting area on top of the boat house down by the water. As others have mentioned - the driveway is not for the faint of heart! We had to push out one of our cars (a 2 wheel drive sedan) during a rainstorm but had no issues otherwise. It's a circle drive with one steep straight entry, and another less steep switchback entry. Our Tahoe was not able to make the switchback turns but there was plenty of room at the bottom of the drive to turn our big SUV around to get up the straight driveway. It added a little adventure to our vacation :) Overall a peaceful stay, and I wouldn't hesitate to reserve this property again!

Lake Rabun Win!

We loved our stay at this property. We are longtime residents and visitors of Lake Rabun and this home was very well appointed for lake living! Every time you turn a corner, they had what you needed...or what you didn't know you needed. Comfortable and cozy with plenty of room to spread out. We loved the porches amongst the trees and sitting above the lake listening to the waterfall in the back of the cove. Our kids loved the downstairs living area stocked with books, games and movies. And the adjacent lower screen porch with ping pong and games was a huge hit- with the adults too. The boathouse is easier to access via the stairs than I thought and a lovely walk through the rhododendrons and mountain laurel leads you to the top of the boathouse. They even have a large cooler on top of the boathouse for you to use! Win! Unique to this property is full access to the boathouse and the various floats, canoes, paddleboards, etc. This is not always the case with many rentals on the lake. So this is a huge plus! The cove is one of the best on the lake as it remains calm and ideal for swimming and floating or just sitting and staring at the deep blue-green Lake Rabun water. Review the parking notes under "About this Property" on the listing. It can be a bit tricky but expected with mountain property...don't let that hold you back from this awesome home. The owners were always responsive and helpful. We will definitely be returning! Thanks Binns!

Great place; Better than it reads.

This is a very comfortable home with many fun things to do in the area and at the house. The property has a great mountain and lake feel at the end of the cove with a waterfall. The decks are great. It includes two long screened decks and then an outdoor deck section that has a private feel to it. We didn't have time to play with all the toys like the Wii and the canoes because the area has fun places to visit. We hiked Tallulah Falls and drove over to Helen for the German experience. It has 4 bedrooms, the 4th with 4 bunk beds. Then, in the downstairs den it has two nice bunk beds. One bedroom downstairs shares its bath with the den but it has plenty of doors for that purpose. Only one bedroom has a private bath. It also has two neat loft spaces with low beds which could work for kids. I like it because it has some warmth to the property and there are different places to go within the house for ping pong, or corn hole, or even to go hide on a deck section. If you were to go there in snow or ice you probably need at least 2-wheel drive just for the final 100 yards to the place. The kitchen table has good size (6) but you have to bring in extra seats from the desk chairs - which is not a problem. We sat 11 at one time easily. Satellite is excellent for TV. wifi a little slow but it is a vacation place and it does work well enough. We've stayed at about 10 houses over the years for Thanksgiving all over the TN, NC mountain area and this is near the top of the list.

Fall Bucket List

This cabin has to be one of the beautiful properties I have ever stayed at. I booked this cabin for my wedding party as it was closer to our venue. It comfortably fit 12 adults and did not feel crowded. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook. The views of the lake were breathtaking. Wendy was kind enough to respond to our messages right away and extend our checkout. I definitely recommend this cabin.

About the host

Host profile image
Our family wanted to be barefoot and enjoying nature more, so that's how we landed at this lake house! We were drawn to Lake Rabun's timelessness and setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's restorative. What do we like? Paddling. Picnics. Long floats. Ping pong battles. Sitting by the stone fireplace. Puzzles. Showing-off a fish we caught. A nap in the hammock. Happy hour on the boathouse. Star gazing. Time together! Thank you for visiting our page. We feel lucky to have found this spot and so happy to share it with others who love the lake like we do. We hope to hear from you!

Why they chose this property

This house is located on a peaceful cove among hemlocks, pines and mountain laurel. A waterfall creates a nice soundtrack. Hall's Marina (visible from the boathouse) is conveniently located directly across the lake. A dinner at Rabun Inn is only an 8-minute drive (or shorter boat ride). Clayton, GA, where there are lovely shops and restaurants, is a 20-minute drive. In 8-minutes you can be in charming Lakemont. There is also a lot to explore in the surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest – Angel Falls, Tallulah Falls and Minnehaha Falls. Wineries, orchard, drive-in theater and more attractions are close-by. To be honest, you may not want to leave the house once you're settled in – stay home and enjoy the views and natural setting!

What makes this property unique

The cove offers a protected place to float, paddle and swim. Look for the bald eagle, kingfishers, ducks, turtles from the boathouse. And, inside the the house there are so many comfortable spots for reading and unwinding. Feel social? Plenty of space to lounge, play games and have meals with friends and family. At night, the screened porches are ideal for lingering and listening to nature. This location offers something unique to enjoy in all seasons!
