About this property
Character Accommodation, 2-4 guests, Heated Pool In The Heart Of Val de Loire
"Les Rosiers": Walk in through the stable style front door into the large, open plan living area decorated with a reclaimed log burner and a vintage bike high up on the beam! A large modern oil painting specially commissioned by a local artist completes this eclectic mix of old and new.
This 200 year old building which once housed a wine press has recently been sympathetically restored by professional builders to provide modern, spacious one bedroom accommodation for couples or for family of four* during the summer school holiday period (July and August)
(* Children aged 6 and upwards for the mezzanine. Younger children can use the sofa bed and/or a put me up in the lounge).
The property retains the charm of bygone times and also benefits from the added luxuries one would expect in the 21st century such as underfloor heating and a dishwasher.
A large cathedral-style living room with a dining area and a well appointed fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, small oven, four-ring hob and extractor fan, electric kettle, filter coffee maker, toaster).
There’s a flat screen television with both English and Frenchs channels, a DVD player and DVDs as well as books.
Up the spiral staircase (suitable for children 6 years old and upwards) there is the mezzanine with two single beds.
The large patio doors lead to the outdoor seating area and the heated pool.
The lounge leads to a dressing area (large in-built wardrobes, with lots of hanging and storage space) and the light and airy double bedroom with chest of drawers and bedside tables. Door to the garden.
To the other side of the dressing area, there’s a large family-size bathroom with a sunken bath and shower, double vanity unit with two wash hand basins and toilet. There is also a washing machine, iron and ironing board.
During your stay you can relax on the comfy leather sofa overlooking the garden, swim in the large heated swimming pool (open mid May to September) and enjoy cycling round the lanes and picturesque villages as well as visiting local attractions, vineyards and of course castles! (bikes are at your disposal).
IF 'LES ROSIERS' IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE DATES YOU HAVE IN MIND, PLEASE DO CONTACT US AS WE ALSO HAVE A THREE-BEDROOM PROPERTY (SLEEPS 7) AND A TWO BEDROOM PROPERTY (SLEEPS 4) IN THE SAME GROUNDS.
ALTERNATIVELY, WHY NOT ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO JOIN YOU? OUR TOTAL SLEEPING CAPACITY IS FOR 15 PERSONS + 2 CONVERTIBLES.

About the host
Hosted by Phil Bignet

Phil and Sandrine Bignet bought the property from their former English owners in November 2021. Phil and Sandrine are totally bilingual and both work in communications, with advanced interpersonal skills. They are very much involved in tourism and will be happy to offer advice on how to make the best use of your stay in the area, should you require it. Phil is a freelance conference interpreter and Sandrine is a Marketing executive with IBM.
We have two children, Marion and Antoine, 28 and 24 years old. Marion works in Paris as a consultant in digital transformation, and Antoine is in his last year of chemical engineering. We also have a very friendly cat named Zephyre and acouple of hens which kids love to pat, and love to eat their eggs.

Why they chose this property
Phil and Sandrine spent 9 months travelling between the Loire Valley, Bourgogne and Charente, before choosing Monteaux last year. Why? Because of its central location, excellent road and rail links. There's a main railway station just a few minutes up the road from where you can take a train to Paris (2 hours) and the main Paris-Bordeaux motorway is just 20 minutes away.
The property offers the best of both worlds: calm and relaxation in the beautiful one acre grounds and the accessability to towns and attractions (Amboise, Tours and Blois).
Amboise, just a 15 minute drive away, has a fantastic Sunday morning market where you can find virtually anything from food (wonderful local fruits and vegetables), plants, clothes, hardware to furniture - and lots more. The castle and the Clos Lucé (Leonardo de Vinci's last home) are centrally located and there's a wonderful choice of cafés, bistros, restaurants in the town centre. In July and August, enjoy the wonderful sound and light (son et lumière) shows in the grounds of the castle.
Amboise also boasts the largest freshwater aquarium in Europe and on the Loire you can rent canoes and kayaks. The current takes you effortlessly downstream and is an experience you'll never forget. You'll soon realise why the Loire Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
