About this property

Enjoy your dreams balancing embraced in a typical hammock under this tall thatched jungle shelter, mosquito net enclosed. Find out why this way of sleeping has been the fashion around this lands for the last millenia. By night the house candle lights up for an unsurpased atmosphere that evoke the spirit of past gone times.
Traditional mayan shelter design built solely with stone, wood and palms, tells the story about simplicity of a way of life. Naturally acclimated and in much communion with the jungle, offers a close experience to stay out in the open, even at nights stars can be seen from the inside. Surrounded by lushy vegetation allows some isolation from our other two guest rooms. An array of hammocks round up this minimal concept.
Bathroom facilities outside the room shared among other 2 hut guests, consisting in a roofless shower enclosed in a stone wall, an open sink area and a separate composting toilet unit which waste turns into manure for plant sowing. All the water we use we filter and use again for plant irrigation. No hot water supply.
Guests of this room have also access to the gardens, outdoor lounge area, hammocks and pond. Also can visit our art workshop and gallery. Within the same premises an art residency program is hosted,so chances are you meet one of our guest artists or their work. No kitchen access.
There is coffee or tea courtesy service from 7am to 9am served in the gardens when climate permit. We are keen into extending travel information personally based on specific needs. We prefer the off beat paths, to find hidden ruins, unrevealed cenotes, and little towns trapped in time.
Since the house is located in jungle envirorment expect to find some wild life, as many sorts of insects, small reptiles, butterflies and a large number of seasonal birds. Account the rooster farm of our neighbor can be sometimes annoying for noise sensitive people but certainly can be good for those who like making the most of the day by starting early. (Earplugs advised if planning to sleep through late)

Why they chose this property
We are a couple from central Mexico very into ancient civilizations. We built our house with an architecture of the earth on the rural side of the Mayan transition zone in the ejido of Macario Gomez. With the purpose of harmonize with the peculiar environment in which we live and in order to preserve the underground water flows, we incorporate alternative and sustainable solutions, happens to be also off the grid. In 2013 by support of many local workers we started this housing project "Casa Xaan In Ná" (mayan: house of palms), minded to consciuous travellers, artists and friends. We enjoy to share a glance into local life here. We like the off beat paths, hidden ruins, unrevealed cenotes, little towns trapped in time. You are very welcome to immerse into the beauty of the simplicity and a simpler way of life.
What makes this property unique
