Moose Lodge At Clatter Ridge Farm

A very small farm nestled in the middle of everywhere. Private and peaceful, but located minutes from award winning dining, music, arts, theater and poetry. Only 2 hours from New York and Boston, Farmington has the best of everything.
We live in a separate house on the property and are always close by to answer any questions. We have pigs in the forest and sheep in the pasture, they are visible (but it's not a petting zoo).

This is a very special place!

Our family booked this home as a place for those of us from out of town to stay while visiting family in the area. The hosts were kind and communicative, doing all they could to make our stay comfortable. There were fresh flowers in the home, wine and clear instructions. There was more than enough space for our families, with plenty of space to spread out. The home is cozy and adorably decorated. So many things to look at - art on the walls, tons of awesome books and antiques. The grounds are stunning with sheep, the cutest pigs ever, and even tapped maple trees. We were there in March and I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the other seasons. Super convenient location. We all absolutely loved this place. So thankful to the hosts for sharing it with the rest of us.

Cozy spacious family home

Our family of 6 stayed here over Christmas to visit with relatives in the area. It was a magical place to spend Christmas - beautiful picture window to watch the snow fall and sheep hang out. We LOVED everything about it. We own 2 short term rental properties and we were blown away at the fully stocked kitchen. As it was the holidays, we spent much of our time in the kitchen. I brought a bunch of supplies not knowing what was there, but there was no need. Everything I looked for I found. Communication was effortless. Gold standard for short term rental!

Well maintained property in a beautiful setting

Quaint, very well equipped and maintained, it’s a fairly spacious house on a large property with picture perfect sheep and wildlife grazing outside of your living room window. As urbanites used to room service and king beds, this was a nice change (more for me and the kids than the wife). Would I prefer a king bed and side table? Yes, but that’s hardly why you stay at a property like this. The owners are friendly, responsive and communicative.

Serenity on the farm

The house was the perfect place for my extended family. There is an oversized family room equipped with toys and games for the children and a quiet living room and screen porch with a gorgeous view for the adults. You’ll never see another house or hear traffic while you enjoy the view or visit with the sheep. Beautiful and peaceful.

Perfect Weekend!

We had the pleasure of meeting Bobbie and Anne and they are so devoted to this property and giving you a comfortable place to stay. Farm fresh goods were a family favorite and we were touched by their generosity in leaving us beautiful eggs for breakfast. Most of all, we found this to be a perfect respite from the hussle of family wedding activities. We want to come back and explore more. Such a special place.

Graduation Weekend

Our family loved our stay at Moose Lodge. House was perfect, ample room to spread out when needed and comfortable family room and living room to relax and spend time together. Wonderful dining room for family dinners. Would definitely stay again. Hosts are wonderful and very easy to communicate with.

Lovely respite

The property has everything anyone could need. It was perfect for our stay for a family wedding. It was a home away from home. Bobbie and Anne were very helpful when we had questions. The wildlife was spectacular! We saw owls, eagles, and other raptor birds. Sunday morning we saw a coyote! That is in addition to the domesticated animals on the property. There are also lovely trails for walking.

A Magical Place

The very definition of peaceful, this working farm is nothing short of magical. You are welcomed to a superbly-appointed home — not a clinical hotel. Or family had a great time visiting with the sheep, piggies and the lovely owners. We’re hope to be back soon!

Fantastic experience

Bobbie is an incredible host and Moose Lodge is just perfect for a family. We stayed for two weeks and appreciated all her wonderful communication, support during our stay, and thoughtful details. Would stay again at her farm in a heartbeat.

Wonderful hosts and property

We loved our stay here for graduation weekend! The hosts were very sweet and responsive, even letting our young daughter pet their animals, and were very responsive and friendly. The house was clean and spacious, and the grounds pretty and serene. Plus we got fresh eggs, milk and English muffins in the fridge at arrival. Highly recommended!

A gem in the woods

This home was so peaceful and comfortable we instantly felt like we were home. We loved the spacious eat-in kitchen and family room and our grandchildren couldn’t get enough of the sheep, sow and goats.

Farmhouse Charm

This property was a hit! A charming farmhouse set on a peaceful, working farm with animals, with all amenities needed for a comfortable stay, in a location close to shops, restaurants, activities, etc.--what more could you ask for? I'm sorry I didn't have the chance to meet the owners, but my nephew and his family did, and had a wonderful conversation about the property and its history. We have family nearby this location, so we are looking forward to returning when we have the next family event.

Wonder place to connect with family

My family and I stayed here last weekend as a place to gather to attend my grandmother’s funeral. Although the reason for the gathering was a somber one, it was really wonderful to have such a cozy, large space for our family to spend time together. It was nice to be able to have separate rooms and bathrooms, but also have the kitchen, dining room, and living room to enjoy meals together and play board games in the evenings. It proved such a wonderful place to connect. The property itself was beautiful and it was really fun to be able to see the sheep, pig and chickens! The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed – and the addition of farm fresh eggs and other things in the fridge was a treat. We also loved having a fire going in the evenings – it really helped create a cozy, comfortable ambiance! We have already talked about wanting to come back at some point for another family reunion, and would recommend to others!

Perfect for a family

My family used this rental while staying in Connecticut for my brother’s wedding in Hartford. We travelled a long distance and wanted something with enough space for my 3 young children to run around during our stay. The moose lodge was perfect. It’s a beautiful farm property located centrally to everything we needed. The animals were charming and my children absolutely loved them. They also loved helping Bobbie and Anne take care of them in the morning. The house was spacious and charming equipped with everything a young family needs (highchair, pack n play, booster seat, kiddie utensils) there is also a “playroom” dedicated to kids toys, games and wonder. The house was clean and well stocked with linens, kitchenware, coffee and even FARM FRESH EGGS. We loved our stay here and if needed to be in Hartford again, would not hesitate to return to this property.

What a beautiful, cozy, luxurious home! Bobby and Anne were so welcoming and even left fresh eggs in the fridge for breakfast! I haven’t slept so peacefully in months. Thanks again for hosting and we highly recommend this lovely place!

Perfect weekend getaway

The layout of the home was perfect for a family - plenty of room. It had such good energy and warmth overall. Beautiful surrounding area with plenty of food options. Very quiet and peaceful.

Moose Lodge Delivers!

We had such a peaceful retreat at Moose Lodge. Bobbie and Anne were easy to reach before we checked in, and we got to meet them during a morning winter hike up the ridge. There, they gave us an great overview of the history of the area. Great people. We are from Laguna Beach California, and were visiting family. and we got the full New England experience. The house is awesome - many rooms and cool nooks to relax. The Kitchen has everything you would need to cook and entertain. We made a fire every night, and chilled out in the "playroom". playing cards and games. They even left us a bottle of wine to kick things off. Our kids (though a bit older) loved the animals. Our son had a broken leg, and loved just sitting with the Chickens and Sheep. A delightful weekend in the country! We will be back!
