the house was clean , comfortable and a great location . Unfortunately the mountains near Santa Barbara caught on fire , and we could see the flames from the house . This fire and the possible flash flood from the mt. debris was very scary . We never heard from the owner , even if it was national news .The rain started and the ants invaded the bathroom and the kitchen . other than that our stay was pleasant .
This is like somebody’s grandma’s house with vintage furnishings, at a very good price and pet-friendly. We would go back tomorrow in spite of some minor drawbacks, because it’s a great location and a sweet house. It's on a busy downtown street, there are some homeless around, but we didn’t have parking, noise, or safety concerns and loved sitting out front with our dog (both back and front fenced). Furnishings are all antique, clean and in good repair, though, oddly, all wood tops are covered in glass. The house could really use better lighting & window coverage, and attention to little details like all-cotton sheets and fresher pillows, organization and cleanliness of cleaning supplies, and fewer stored & jumbled items in closets, cupboards, drawers. It would be helpful to provide instructions for the very complicated streaming TV/cable setup. Owner was very kind and easy to work with when it looked like we might need to change our dates in advance. Ken next door was super helpful when the sink leaked and also let our dog out for us the day we went to Channel Islands. We had a good time here, slept well and were able to live comfortably for four weeks. Great location for walking around downtown, and good jumping off point for beach and beyond.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Santa Barbara. The cottage was very clean and in a good location making it easy to walk to the restaurants, library, museum and Farmers market. The weather was perfect. It was a pleasure to deal with the landlord as well as the neighbor Ken. Would recommend this rental.

Perfect In Every Way
I just spent the month of April here and the cottage absolutely exceeded my expectations. It is exactly as pictured on this site. Very spacious, appearance is deceiving, well furnished and up to date.
The cottage is within walking or bicycling distance to State Street, Stearns Wharf and the Funk Zone. Early on I discovered Renauld's in Arlington Plaza and visited everymorning for coffee and pastry.
The front porch is perfect to while away a few hours reading in the afternoon or a cup of tea in the evening. Very peaceful neighborhood adds to the ambiance.
John was a great host, had a couple of early wifi connectivity issues and he was all over it. He then followed up with me to make sure it was working okay.
I would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

Cozy, charming, and comfortable
After various long-term rentals in Santa Barbara I do think this house ranks number one. With two bedrooms and a bath, it was perfect for me and my husband. We thoroughly enjoyed the front porch and our dog loved the secured back yard. It is in an outstanding location where the best of Santa Barbara is a short walk away. If the beach is your passion it is accessible less than five minutes by car as is the harbor front. Lovely comfortable furnishings include to my delight a piano. We certainly hope to come here and stay on our next visit to SB!

Quiet Cottage in a Friendly Neighborhood
This cottage is walking distance to state street, but is in a quiet neighborhood. I was very comfortable with everything needed for a long stay. The house is bigger than it looked, but the extra room was appreciated. The front porch was nice for relaxing and watching the world go by.
Always felt comfortable and safe during my stay which was important to me.
Loved the antiques!

Super convenient
My family stayed at the cottage for almost two months while our house was being renovated. It was super convenient and met all of our needs. The location to State St shopping was great and street parking was easy. It was fenced in so secure for my kids who played in the front yard. Neighbor Ken was really nice. Host John was easy to get a hold of to coordinate our stay.

Cute little cottage in a perfect location near downtown Santa Barbara
My wife and I stayed for a month in the cottage while I was visiting colleagues in downtown Santa Barbara. The place was clean, tidy and had everything we needed including cooking facilities, fridge and cupboard space and a laundry with washing and drying machines. The second bedroom was a perfect addition for my wife's brother who came to stay for a few weeks. John was immediately on hand and quick to reply to any issues and Ken, the friendly nextdoor neighbour was such a great help. If we needed to stay in SB again, we would definitely look them up. Recommend strongly to all.

Sweet cottage, walking distance from just about everything!
We (couple) stayed here for five weeks. The extra bedroom allowed for two sets of grateful out of town guests, and we burned about ten bundles of wood in the living room fireplace - what a treat that was, especially given the stretch of rainy days! John was nothing but communicative, clear and cheerful, and being within a few blocks of downtown exceeded our expectations. We walked all the time, saw a bunch of new places in Santa Barbara, and enjoyed the front porch as well. Perfect place for those who want a downtown cottage on a budget.

A PLEASANT SURPRISE
This charming craftsman style house shows the owners tender, loving, care.....everything we needed was there, including a brand new washer and dryer. It was immaculately clean and if anything was needed, Ken, next door was more than happy to take care of it. The owner was easily accessible by phone and was always cheerful and helpful. The location is right downtown, walking distance to State Street and the electric bus. Our month's stay on Bath was truly enjoyable....and we would go back again in a minute. Santa Barbara is a paradise. Thank you John for everything. Penny and Terry, Brevard, North Carolina

The house was nice.
It was clean, spacious, formally furnished and the white tile bathroom was splendid.
And I welcomed the new piano.
The location downtown was a big plus -- a 4-block walk to State St. and what became our routine morning coffee at a pretty authentic French Patisserie & Bistro.
The handyman next door looks after the house, was available to answer questions and promptly took care of some minor fixes. It was nice to have a laundry in the basement.
The owner was accommodating, helpful and courteous.
Some minor drawbacks: The lighting for reading in the living room was not as good as we needed, so we contributed a table lamp. We needed to devise temporary curtains to darken the bedroom from some city lights at night as we are country dwellers where nights are dark. A second bar stool at the nice kitchen bar would have been useful.
All in all a pleasant stay for the month.

Absolutely Wonderful!!!
My husband and I spent several wonderful weeks in this beautiful cottage! It's just perfect: it's very roomy - with 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room and full kitchen, and everything was immaculate and just as in the photos. It was also cozy, with plenty of comfy chairs and everything you could possibly for pots, pans, etc. for making meals at home. There's also a washer/dryer in the basement - nice! It was just a few blocks from State Street, within easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants there. Plus, being able to walk to the the 2x/week farmers markets was a highlight! This is a rare find in a perfect location in Santa Barbara. Had the cottage not already been booked by someone else we would have gladly extended our stay - as it is, we can't wait to go back! Thanks very much, John, for everything!
