Mountain cabin.

In summary, Awesome! If you’re looking for a small mountain cabin centrally located to Loveland, copper, and Winter Park this Georgetown location is perfect. Just off the highway but absolutely secluded. Picture someone’s Christmas train setup an staying in the middle of it. That is this place. The holiday decorated train runs right behind the house every hour or so. It never got old. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO's. This one was outfitted beyond what we are used too. It had all the kitchen gadgets you could want, to include GOOD SHARP KNIVES. It had a full line up spices and enough coffee for a week. The mattresses were comfortable, down pillows and great sheets. Four adults never ran out of hot water. There are no neighbors and the windows were plentiful. Any negatives are too minor to list. If you want perfection go to the Four Seasons and press your luck there. This place was fantastic. If we come back to the area we will stay there again.

Amazing Christmas

We arrived from Texas on Christmas Day to give our 10 year old a white Christmas. It did not disappoint. The snow came fast and the house was decorated with a tree and Christmas decor. The owner was very communicative and helpful. We had all we needed in the house. If was very comfortable and thoughtful. We were right behind the train but it does not go late or early at all. We had one of the best Christmas vacations ever and we couldn’t recommend it more!

Magical stay!

We were wowed as soon as arrived. The scenery is beautiful - a creek in front and historic railroad in back, plus hummingbirds everywhere. Also, it's quite private (minus the train that rides by a few times a day, but we enjoyed waving at the conductors and riders). The cabin itself is rustic and charming and everything a mountain stay should be like. Host communication was fantastic - he messaged us shortly after check-in to make sure everything was ok, and prior to check out, wishing us safe travels home. The views out the windows were stunning as well, so even being inside, we were able to enjoy the beauty. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck hearing the creek and hummingbirds. The beds were comfortable, there was ample hot water for showers, and we did use the washer/dryer a few times with no issues. There were extra blankets or bedding if we needed and had no issues operating the heating in the main room and bedroom at night/early morning. The upstairs was definitely unique (and tight spaces - it is an A-frame), and walking backwards down the stairs was a great tip from the host. Our child loved the tub upstairs for bathtime. One of THE best stays we've ever had. We would stay here again and again.

Great getaway, close to trails, restaurants

This cabin was just what we were looking for! It felt secluded with views from every direction, but it was just a minute or two from town. The creek, mountains, hummingbirds and train made this such a beautiful place to stay. We had excellent communication from the owners before, during and after our stay as well!

June Stay

Location was great, easy to access but also offers a lot of privacy. The cabin is beautiful and Ken thought of everything. He’s great with communicating and keeping in touch to ensure your trip goes well. The hummingbirds were a welcome surprise, there are a couple hanging out all day, but be careful they do divebomb you occasionally. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more.

Above the rest! 10 out of 10 in every category

The pictures don't do it justice! It's much roomier than you might think - excellent use of space. Everything is top notch. Cleanest condo we have stayed at - Pristine. Well-equipped. We cooked every meal here but one for a week. These aren't used dishes/pots/pans - everything is quality which made cooking and clean up a breeze after a long day on the slopes. Pantry was stocked well too for the little dash of this and that. Beds - incredibly comfortable - high quality mattress as well as duvet and linens. Details - they had fans and humidifiers (often items I run out and buy when staying at a condo). Excellent instructions on utilizing the various heat sources and appliances. Extra water bottles. Klenex boxes. Plenty of towels, etc. So comfortable in every way. Location - no scary drive. Secluded and private yet close to everything you need. We skied Loveland and walked around the town and drove the pass. Saw lots of wildlife on the property - right out the window. I think it was a family of elk or else the largest deer I've ever seen! Ken was so pleasant to communicate with and very responsive. Next time we ski Loveland we will be looking to book this wonderful and unique cabin!

Rail Fans Dream

This cabin is kept in immaculate condition. By far the best VRBO experience I've had. There are plenty of supplies for whatever you need, I was pleased by the quality of all of the cooking utensils, equipment, etc. and it seems the owner thought of everything you may need during your stay. My fiancé and I booked this cabin because it is next to the Georgetown loop railway. We were able to sip coffee and look out the window as the trains passed by, we could not have asked for a better stay for our vacation. The cabin is tucked away and there is plenty of privacy, it is close to a nearby stream and so soothing to sit on the porch and hear the water. I was especially impressed by the owner's communication and thorough planning. We will be back!

About the host

Host profile image
Our family relocated back to Colorado in 2012 after a 15 year hiatus away from the state. Our goal from the outset in Colorado was to find a private cabin in the mountains for us and guests to share. We live in Golden area and found this wonderful cabin location in Georgetown Colorado that shares our views of being outdoors, seeing the beautiful mountain settings and being around nature. Come share this experience with our Family.

Why they chose this property

Once you see the pictures and stay at the Rail Stop cabin you will understand our decision to buy here. Only 12 miles to 25 miles from 6 major Colorado ski areas (Loveland, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Keystone, Copper and Arapahoe Basin) and hiking, biking, railroad and mine tours, climbing, fishing, 4 wheeling etc just out the door it offers the Colorado outback getaway while being close to all the major attractions.

The Rail Stop Cabin maintains the rustic cabin look and feel with all the amenities you expect at a vacation cabin.

What makes this property unique

I'll try to list them, but there are many

Mountain and Rushing water views and sound
Privacy in the woods
Close to all major ski areas
Historic Georgetown Restaurants and Museums
Easy commute from Denver and DIA
Star Gazing at night from deck
Wildlife viewing
Train rides, viewing trains and mine tours
Biking and Hiking nearby
