Love the spirit of this NOLA neighborhood; gently worn space
Two of the evenings we stayed here there were wonderful neighborhood “block parties”— reminiscent of the celebrations of Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs (and maybe that’s what they were!) from when I was in New Orleans in years past— with small brass band “parades” and lots of good cheer. The home is about 4 blocks from Magazine Street (great restaurants & shops), though it was not clear to me whether we would or would not be safe walking these particular blocks at night.
The house itself is a “duplex” style, with privacy (a shared wall with another space, through which we could occasionally— but not a lot— hear others).
The space has some New Orleans character (posters of local music shows or other performances, Mardi Gras beads, etc). It is also a hodgepodge of older, gently worn, mismatched furniture, random dishes & such (and no basic ingredients like sugar, oil, salt, etc in case you intend to cook there). One bed was quite soft, the other was quite firm. It was comfortable as a place to end & start the day— we weren’t spending much time there in a city with so much to offer, and it was in a great location for some key NOLA places & experiences. And though we didn't meet them, the owner seemed nice & pretty responsive via text.
In my opinion, it earned 4.5 stars (but we can only give whole numbers so I rounded up)— but for its price & location we would consider it again, if needed!
This has to have been the cleanest VRBO rental we have stayed in. Lisa was an excellent host and did a great job communicating with us about our stay. I highly recommend her place and we would gladly use it again on our next trip to New Orleans.
Exactly as advertised. Host was great! Host met us at check-in and explained the neighborhood, recommended local food choices, and gave us some insight to local norms. Would definitely recommend to friends travelling to New Orleans, and will definitely be our first check for availability when we return.
This was a fabulous rental. It was clean and spacious and in a great location. Lisa met us for checkin which was very personal. I would stay here again!
The property was as described. Lisa was accommodating and prepares you well for your stay in NOLA. The property was very clean and from walking distance to brewery, coffee shop and magazine street. It’s a place at the top of my list for NOLA when looking for a quiet area. The home is quiet when you want to get away from the party. I would highly recommend.
This is a traditional New Orleans shotgun with nicely updated kitchen. Street is very comfortable and has on-street parking. This was perfect base for JazzFest which was about 15 minutes away by car. Nice private backyard with hammocks and dining table.
Nice shotgun style house. Modern/updated showers. Two bathrooms is very nice and unusual to find in the shotgun homes. Great back yard with lots of seating. The owner was very responsive. Cool area just a few blocks off magazine walking distance to cool coffee shots and restaurants
We plan to go back AND hope to book this place again. This was the perfect "homebase" for us. She had thought of everything, hand soap, toiletries, coffee, filters...all the basics. We were within walking distance of some really great restaurants, coffee shops and a hip record store. Ubers were quick to arrive at the location and we always felt completely safe. Lisa was very resposive and was available when needed. She was very helpful during our stay. It's the total package.
Perfect little place in the Garden District/Uptown Area
Ms. Lisa was a gracious hostess. She had a binder of things to do in the area. The home was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for the weekend. It's in walking distance from Magazine Street and the breweries. A big positive for us was that it was away from the chaos of downtown New Orleans but we were still able to get there with our car, and was in a quiet, safe little neighborhood. We had kids with us so this was very important to us. We will definently be back, and suggest this home to others.
Owner/manager met us upon check in and provided very informative details like places to eat etc. House is very clean and in a quiet neighborhood and just a 10-15 drive/uber ride away from the action. We will definitely look to book this home again should we ever come back to NOLA. A++
Super place. Decorated nicely. Convenient to our needs. Walkable neighborhood
