Beautiful Private Cottage 3 miles from the Sequoia Park Entrance
Tucked into the lower east side of Salt Creek Canyon sits this beautiful hand-crafted 580 square foot guest house on nine acres. Originally built by owner as a writing and painting studio in the late 1980s, it has an open floor plan with a wood beam ceiling and pine plank flooring. All wood furniture is made by owner. The screened in porch opens onto two wooden decks that over look a series of cascading ponds and Salt Creek farther below. A separate driveway from Salt Creek Road (also known as Craig Ranch Road) with carport provides parking and privacy. Location makes it very easy to get to where you want to go, whether it is to the park, to town or to the end of south fork and lady bug trail. A half mile walk or bike ride further up Salt Creek Road gives you access to BLM (Bureau of Land Management—public lands) and Case Mountain for great hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as, Salt Creek waterfalls. (seasonally winter and spring) It is a park all unto itself.

Our stay at the cottage was exceptional. The location was perfect, offering easy access to the National Park. Every detail was thoughtfully attended to, making our stay incredibly cozy and comfortable. The private setting provided a peaceful and relaxing retreat. Highly recommend!
We loved every minute- it's a truly magical place, exceptionally appointed, with every need anticipated, and thoughtful, artistic details at every turn. We will definitely be returning.
Our stay was perfect. The cabin is beautiful with so many unique touches. Kitchen and bathroom are very generously stocked with anything you might need. Thank you so much!
My husband and I stayed here for a few days while on our honeymoon. It was such a nice and relaxing stay. Martha was great in communicating with us and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this cottage!!!
This cottage is so calming and relaxing, both inside and out on the property. It is immaculately clean and comfortable. It would be a great place to stay if you needed to get away and do nothing else. Martha is a really neat person to talk to and she and her husband are obviously blessed with creative talents. I would definitely recommend this as a wonderful getaway!
We loved our stay! The owners definitely put in a great deal of time and energy in the furnishings, decor and amenities to make this cabin relaxing and enjoyable. We couldn’t have been more thrilled the second we walked in the door and felt inspired and welcomed.
The cottage is a tranquil, serene place to stay. It was clean, well-equipped with everything we needed, and featured thoughtful and homey touches throughout. We would definitely recommend staying here if you plan to explore sequoia national park - it’s just a quick drive away! 10/10.
This home was exquisite. We’ve stayed in a lot of nice places. This was not just nice, it felt like home. I wanted to read every book on the shelves. The furniture is handmade by Rick. Much of the art is Martha’s. I’ve never been in a cleaner, more well appointed, more organized rental. Martha has gone out of her way to try to anticipate everything her guests might need and, at least for me, everything I needed was exactly where I looked for it. Luxurious in a very understated and comfortable way. Quiet. So much wildlife carries on around the koi cascades. If you just sit you will see a myriad of small birds and mammals. We loved watching the hummingbirds. We even had a bear visit, which was exciting! I hope that someday we have a chance to return to this serene oasis! We cannot thank Martha and Rick enough for their hospitality and kindness.
Can’t say enough about the place! Windows all around. Beautiful screened porch. Lovely design and decor. Every last thing you could need has been anticipated. One of our absolute best!!!
It’s hard to imagine a more perfect stay: a precious cottage built with craftsmanship and care; scenically nestled in a secluded pocket of nature; immaculately maintained; hospitably prepared with attention to literally every detail, and gleamingly cleaned. Visiting the Park was convenient and beautiful, but returning “home” to the cottage each evening was an equal delight. It was, indeed, a perfectly wonderful stay. It only rates 5 stars because “10” wasn’t an option. Thanks Martha and Rick.
I am lucky to say this was my second stay at the cottage. Tons of diffused natural light bathe the spaces and you are surrounded by trees and the sound of the river (and maybe some frogs at night). Martha has thought of everything that you could need - soft blankets, fluffy soft towels and a well stocked kitchen and even pantry items. There is a screened room off the living room that is a tranquil indoor/outdoor space.
Because Sequoia was so snowy, I wandered in the BLM land which is about 0.5 miles up the road. Tons of open space, wildflowers, trees, Salt Creek, a little waterfall and occasionally horses and cows!
This is a beautiful place to recharge your soul.
We love quiet and off the beaten path places and this totally fit the bill. Very well appointed cottage in a beautiful setting. Also make sure to take time to explore the BLM land up the road!
I know this has been said before but I’m going to say it again. The pictures do not do it justice. It’s so much more beautiful in person! The cottage itself is an amazing piece of work. From the garden out front and surrounding the house, to the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom, the patio, the pond, EVERYTHING. Down to the notes scattered around the house. Martha and Rick know how to make their guests feel very cozy and special. My girlfriend (now fiancé) and I had the best time here. We had plans to visit the park our second day being there but the house was just so inviting, we decided to sleep in, make brunch, take a local hike (where I proposed to my gf in private out in nature), and come back to relax, read our books, feed the fish, prep for dinner (we made soup), and we used the rest of our time binge watching Love is Blind, on the couch with the blankets over us. It was peak cozy levels.
This place has left us with a lasting positive impression. The cottage is special. We definitely will come back to visit. Hopefully for more days and when the skies are clearer and sunny. Thank you for all you do, Martha and Rick!
My wife and I had an absolutely amazing stay here. The house is immaculate with craftsmanship and attention to detail everywhere you look. The property itself is incredible with several ponds right out your back deck and the sounds of the river just below in the background. Whether you're looking for a relaxing retreat in nature or a home base to explore Sequoia National Park this is the place to be!

The cottage is set up nicely and has a lot of extras. The only thing I would recommend is to have a comfortable sofa in the living room area. The sofa they have was not comfortable at all.
The cottage was perfect in every way. It is a quiet location where you feel like you are the only ones around. It is peaceful and relaxing and so close to the entrance of Sequoia National Park. Martha has gone out of her way to make sure the cottage is fully stocked with everything you could need. We enjoyed our stay SO much! I think we could have stayed at the cottage all day and still had a wonderful vacation! It is not just a place to stay! If you like relaxing and peaceful, it is a destination!
If I could give this a 10 Star rating I would. I've stayed in quite a few VRBO's and this has to be one of the best. It was exactly what we needed for the two of us while out hiking in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Very convenient to the parks, restaurants, etc. The cottage was more than equipped with what we needed. It was just so homey and comfortable. We would have our coffee on the deck in the morning and wine on the deck at night after our return from the parks.
Martha was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Very responsive to our questions and she provided all the info we needed for the area. If we are ever in Three Rivers again, we will absolutely stay here. Loved it!!!!
This finely crafted cottage is nestled anong intimate cascading water features. It is evident that it was designed with a keen eye for simple elegance. One of our favorites.
