About this property

Casa Durango - 3 BR 1BA, Pet Friendly Home in Durango on W 2nd Ave

Casa Durango is a charming 3 bedroom 1 bath 1300 sq ft home located on Durango's northwest grid. Our home was originally built in 1896 and was recently updated to include a new kitchen, bathroom, interior paint and furnishings. It still has that vintage feeling but has all the modern amenities. Our home, like most homes in Durango, does not have AC, but the temperature is easily manageable.
The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and utensils and the dining table comfortably seats four and does have an additional leaf to seat a few more. The living room has a L-shaped couch, large ottoman, a Samsung 40" tv with DirecTV and high speed WiFi.
Two bedrooms have new comfortable queen beds and the third bedroom has a new twin daybed with trundle mattress and all have high quality linens and pillows. The third bedroom also has a large beanbag, 36" Flat screen TV with DirecT & Roku and many shelves containing games and puzzles. The backyard is fenced and there is a new gas BBQ on the deck. During the summer there is a outdoor dining set on the deck which seats six people.
Our house is dog friendly. The garden is fairly well fenced but not secure enough to contain a pup who really wants to explore the neighborhood.
Walk, hop on one of our cruisers (5 available) or take the Durango Trolly which stops 1 block from the house into the historic downtown district for dinner, shopping, bars or to just wander around.
There are so many great outdoor activities in and around the Durango area: Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road, Mesa Verde National Park, Durango Mountain Resort, Sky Ute Casino, Telluride, Gold Medal fly fishing, Animas River, horse back riding, golf, skiing, Jeep tours, rafting, hunting, kayaking, historic district, shopping, world class mountain and road biking, scenic tours and motorcycle touring.
The Animas River is only a three minute walk from the house. If you choose to walk downtown, the swing bridge over the Animas River is only blocks away as is the bike path. Historic downtown Durango is less than a mile from the house and an easy walk.

Great stay in Durango

Just back from a fabulous long weekend in Durango. Thus property was clean, cozy, well equipped and down right fantastic. Everything went smoothly, the property owners were so easy to communicate with, and everything was super easy.

Relaxing getaway

We loved the house and the enclosed yard. We came for Thanksgiving and to ride the Polar Express. Unfortunately, only one of those happened as the train had maintenance issues the night we were supposed to ride. However, we enjoyed just relaxing at the house and eating the massive amounts of thanksgiving food and chocolate from the stores downtown.

Great location. Thanks to the owner for having some cruiser bikes to use in the shed. Enjoyed the A/C. Easy check in and check out. Would def stay again when back in town.

Perfect for our stay

The property was wonderful. It is an older home that has been renovated but still kept the old world charm. We had a great stay. The dogs enjoyed the back yard. Hosts were easy to work would. Would stay there again.

Fantastic Durango home in quiet neighborhood close to everything

Title says it all. Absolutely great place. We'd love to stay here again. Definite pride of ownership and well stocked. This place is especially great for dogs, and we really appreciated that. It's hard to find.

Just what we needed.

This was a perfect rental for our family coming in for thanksgiving with extended family living in town but wanting to have our own space to retreat to. The beds were comfortable, the shower hot and strong, and the kitchen well stocked for our needs. Location is great, off street parking with a garage to put our bikes in. The house was warm and cozy without being cramped. We will book again when we visit Durango next.

Clean and comfortable

The kitchen had everything we needed, there were dog biscuits for our dog, Marla, the bed we used was very comfortable and yard was really nice. Responses to our questions were helpful and quick. We were able to walk and ride our bikes to downtown and grocery stores.

Perfect family home

We visited Durango with our daughter, her husband and 7 month old baby. The house was perfect! The yard was lovely for evening visits after the baby went to bed. The neighborhood was quiet and so close to everything. The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed for a wonderful family getaway.

Wonderful stay in Durango

Lisa and Johnny have an amazing property. It was such a lovely home and perfect for our family of four. It was clean, spacious and situated perfectly in Durango. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and an easy drive to all that Durango has to offer. They also did a great job communicating with us before, during and after our stay. Perfect dog friendly vacation home

My girlfriend and I visit Durango often with our two dogs. Casa Durango was the best pet friendly home we rented so far. We both had to work during this visit and the house had enough room for us to work and get some space when on business calls. The kitchen was very well outfitted with reasonably sharp knives if you like to cook (One of my pet peeves is crappy dull knives!). And there is a Weber grill on the back porch - the best option for outdoor grilling. We went to Sunnyside Farms Market one night and picked up some fresh Rainbow Trout and had a great meal using that grill. The back yard with the deck was perfect for relaxing with a good craft beer after a long hike and the dogs totally loved the fenced in back yard. We really enjoyed our stay and will try to stay here the next time we visit Durango.

The place to stay in Durango

We had a great stay in Durango! Casa Durango was clean, well appointed and in a safe neighborhood. Everything we could think of needing was there. We were comfortable and felt at home. Loved the bikes and took many family rides along the Animas River ...just minutes from the house. Great Mexican food around the corner, and many other choice restaurants a few minutes away. Lisa and Johnny were very accommodating and easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again!

Amazing house

The home had everything we needed, a fabulous yard, and was close to everything we wanted to do. The trolley stop is close to the house and take no time to get downtown. We loved it!

Wonderful stay in Durango

We loved staying here. It felt like home away from home. We enjoyed cruising around town via bikes and relaxing on the back deck. We cooked our favorite meals. Would be happy staying here again.

Wonderful home

Durango is a wonderful small town and this property really helped to make our stay even more enjoyable. We loved eating breakfast on the back deck, walking to the nearby Mexican restaurant for dinner and biking along the River. The house has all that we needed to make it feel like home and we would not hesitate to book it again.

Great house in Durango!

We come into town to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. What a fun time! The house was perfect for our family of four and for hosting friends for meals. My kids loved the game room, the plush bean bag and picking apples off the backyard tree every morning for breakfast. Beds were extremely comfortable. Host was especially accomodating with answering my questions! We will be back!

Charming house!!!!!

This is a 10 star house! We stayed 3+ weeks in this charming house in an incredible neighborhood. We have been coming to Durango for several years and have stayed within blocks of this house. When we walked in we immediately felt at home. It was equipped with everything we needed for 3 weeks. It even had nail polish remover!!! Lisa was wonderful and easy to contact and responded immediately. We had dinner on the patio every night. The house was spotless and had all the cleaning products necessary. The bikes were great to ride around the neighborhood and the house is one block from the daily fresh produce/fruit stand, which we walked to everyday to get fresh fruit and corn. The Animas River trail is less than a 5 minute walk across Main and downtown is less than a 10 minute walk. The house was perfect - we didn't want to leave :)... Can't wait to come back and stay here again.

Johnny and I love Durango and we hope you will too. We try and get back there as often as possible and by recently turning the house into a vacation rental (v. a long term rental) allows us to actually stay in the house when we visit. We are Northern California natives and currently reside in Corte Madera, CA.

Why they chose this property

Johnny bought the house sight unseen after visiting Durango to visit a friend who had lived there since college. The residential neighborhood is convenient to everything and the neighbors are all very friendly.

What makes this property unique

It's a funky old property that was build in the late 1800's. It has a lot of heart and still has that old rustic, southwest cabin feel.
