Wonderful home in a beautiful place

The host was very accommodating and would stop by to make sure things were running smoothly. The property could use a little TLC, but it had no influence on our vacation. There are many orange and coconut trees and we were able to pick a few of our own. The pool was refreshing after dinners we cooked in the gourmet style kitchen. The kitchen has full sized appliances, a coffee maker and a toaster. The first floor bedrooms had air conditioning that kept the rooms very cool at night, but I found I didn't need it as the house didn't get very hot during the day. The upstairs room was perfect for my daughter and her friends. It slept four teenage girls! They liked that they were able to get away and had a little of their own space. The master bath has a step down concrete tub finished with natural stone and endless hot water. The decor is rustic Mexico and left me wanting to add those touches to my Northern Virginia townhouse. The owner rented his vehicle to us, which was perfect for running into Sayulita for a bite to eat. Playa Patzcuaro is about 12 minutes walking distance down the road. As a protected beach, we found there were very few people and we greatly enjoyed the sunsets without the crowds. I would bring my family here to stay again.

Loved it!

I had a great vacation in Sayulita and the house was perfect for us. I want to first say that it's much more than renting a house. Nick and Ulysses went above and beyond in being helpful. They shared local tips on questions I had and were responsive with anything I needed at the house. The pool was awesome and cleaned daily by them early in the morning before anyone was up except me ofcourse. Beds were comfy and ac was cold. As another reviewer mentioned it is a house in the jungle. There were beautiful birds of all colors, woodpeckers, and plenty of colorful life..... ofcourse there are lizards and beetles, etc. The good thing was no mosquitos and no flies. My kids did not want to use the upstairs room because they got scared the first night due to the lizards. Lol. They are girls so they freak out. Not using the upstairs room did not bother us at all. We loved the house and spent most of our time there in the pool anyways! We had wifi and satellite TV although we really didn't watch TV. They gave us keys to the house but did not even take them off the table once. We left the house unlocked when we were there and when we were gone. Overall the house would be a 4 as it could use some TLC. Nothing major, minor details. The visit, the attention, the atmosphere is a 5 plus! We had a blast. Thanks Nick and Ulysses!

Excellent location in the jungle

If you know Sayulita then you will know whether you want to stay in the town or prefer to base yourself away from the hustle and bustle. If it’s the latter then this property is in a great location in the jungle off a dirt track about 10 minutes outside Sayulita and 15-20 minutes from Punta Mita. The accommodation is spacious and functional with a lovely garden and nice pool. It all works even though the property is dated. However, any limitations are more than made up for by the excellent host. Nick is a simply fantastic. He was available at the drop of a hat, immediately responded to any request or issue and was ready to help whenever needed. Also big shout out to his team, in particular Emmanuel. One tip: there is a spectacular unfrequented beach (Playa Pátzcuaro Sur) about 5 mins from the property driving through the jungle and a river. It is spectacular and well worth renting a buggy/off-roader from Nick to get there. If you are looking for a laid back location to relax and explore the region from Sayulita to Punta Mita then this is a good option.

An oasis in the jungle

This is a really great property for a family group. We loved the outdoor space with the large covered area and a great pool. There are three bedrooms with AC and a loft area with fans. It was pretty humid during our stay so taking a dip in the pool was perfect. The owners can also rent you a quad and/or a side by side, which makes it easier to get to the beach. We highly recommend the nearby secluded beaches over the main beach in Sayulita. There’s great housekeeping and maintenance services and they were always quick to respond when we needed something. Being in the jungle you have to be comfortable with bugs, frogs and lizards. The house is not airtight so some little critters make their way inside. Would totally stay here again, but maybe not during the humidity.

Beautiful and unique home, excellent service and attention

We arrived at the tail end of Hurricaine Nora and even with multiple downed trees , usual storm related service interruptions , etc. Nick met us to take us to the property and had everything ready. It is a perfect place when you need an escape from humanity. Private, quiet and a great spot for a larger group of friends or family or just a few people as we had. Nick and his team were available for any assistance we needed but let us to enjoy the area unless called upon . About 10 minutes or so to the main areas of Sayulita, close but away from the noise . Being in the jungle you may be concerned about pests but although we saw a huge array of birds, butterflies, etc. the property is very well manicured and clean so we did not feel overrun with bugs etc at all. Mosquito spray is a must bring especially during summer months but thats about it. We look forward to going again soon.

Sayulita Jungle House

Let me just say that this place and the management of it, was amazing. The property and house were beautiful. The seclusion and privacy of the property was a nice little getaway from town, but just a short 4-5 minute drive into town, so you don't feel too far off the grid. I traveled with a group of four other adults and we all loved it. Nick, Veronica, and Ulysses were all very responsive and a joy to deal with and interact with. They helped us coordinate taxi pick-ups and drop-offs, and gave us great tips and pointers about the surrounding area and things to do. Nick's restaurant in Sayulita is right on the beach and it is A MUST DO ACTIVITY. I can honestly say that the food and service at Nick's restaurant is five-star quality. It was absolutely amazing! Our group of six all practically licked our plates clean. This trip was everything we hoped for and then some. We will definitely be coming back at some point in the future and will again be staying through Nick. They were a great host to have. I highly recommend this place; Adults trip, families getaways, whatever the case may be it is suitable and a super fun time! Thanks, Nick and Veronica for having us and we will see you again in the future!

Needs TLC but it suited our needs

We rented this property for a small pool party for our daughter and her friends. The large grassy area, soccer goal, swimming pool and large covered outdoor seating area were perfect for our needs. We did have some technical difficulties with the refrigerator and the oven would not get hot enough so we ended up having to microwave our food, but it worked out okay. It's a bit run down-- light fixtures are broken, curtains stained and falling down, toilet cracked, etc. This was not a big deal to us as we were just using it for an event but if I was from out of town and rented this for a longer stay, I might not be pleased. The owner was super easy to work with, the house was clean (though some trash in yard), the beds were comfy and the setting was peaceful.

Perfect for my family and everyone really enjoyed our stay here!

Really nice place located just out of town in a lovely quiet setting. Way better than the noise in town. If you need to be pampered at a five star resort this is not for you but great if you want to get away and are fine with being a bit more self sufficient. The host is great and very responsive to any needs. My kids already miss it and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Wonderful family Christmas in Sayulita!

My husband and I and our 4 adult children plus one partner and 2 dogs spent a fantastic 2 weeks at Nick’s Sayulita Jungle House. We were greeted by our host and guided out to the property. The house itself was amazing! Sparkling clean on arrival and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We arranged to rent a car and an ATV both were ready for us and made getting to and from the house a breeze especially with 7 people all not wanting to do the same thing! The pool was ready to use and very nice for a cool dip after a hot day at the beach. This was maintained during our 2 week stay and as well Nick provided a cleaning lady whenever we requested. He was always super quick to respond to any questions we had. There is no cell service at the house but there is WiFi. We really enjoyed our stay... the property it’s self was beautiful and Nick and his wife are terrific hosts.

Sayulita Jungle House!!!

Great place to stay with family or families. House was large enough to accommodate two or more families. Nick and Ulises were super quick in responding to our various requests or breakdowns/repairs. They made sure our stay will be comfortable and enjoyable. Pools was awesome for the kids to dive and chill. It was fun driving on the dirt road leading to the house. I had rented nissan pick truck and it was good idea for this property. Ride to pueblo Sayulita was less then 10min. Nearby beaches were undeveloped and preferred by turtles to lay eggs. Regards, Irfan

Lots of potential - Lots of deferred maintenance

This house was a huge disappointment. I expected a nice house in the jungle. This house wasn’t that. The kitchen was far from gourmet and mice infested. We had to throw away a bunch of old bags of rice and beans that had been left in the cabinets and had been eaten into by mice. The refrigerator was also full of old food that had to be thrown away as well as a bunch of empty booze bottles on top. It was as if whoever "cleaned" the place mopped the floor and wiped the counters but never bothered to look into the cabinets or refrigerator. The coffee maker, toaster, blender shared one small side table and only one item at a time could be plugged in. There was no living room furniture, only a large dining room table and chairs. There was rubbish laying about all over the grounds and the pool had to be skimmed before we could swim comfortably. The pool had a water fall feature that apparently hadn't functioned for some time. The large banquette under the pool palapa was filled with junk / trash and smelled really putrid, as if something had crawled in there and died. The laundry room is full of moldy rotten junk. The plumbing and electricity set up is totally jerry rigged and don’t even look at the electric box on the outside of the house. You’d run for the hills. There is no hot water plumbed to the kitchen sink and the sink drains into a planter. Screens on all the windows need replacing (many windows had no screens at all; others were tattered remnants), some lights worked, some did not. Judging by the holes and nails in the walls at one time there were some decorations / paintings, but no more. No effort was put into the cable TV / internet installation with cables drooping in the master bedroom and only one control so the TV in the living room cannot be controlled independently from the one in the master bedroom. There was no way to lock the house. The positive things I can say are: The AC in the bedrooms worked well, the beds were large and comfortable. The landscaping is beautiful with many mature trees and lots of lawn space. Being in the jungle at night you could see lots of stars and its quiet. This home has been neglected BIG time which is really too bad because it could have been a very nice find. It wouldn't take much to make it nice. Haul away the trash, paint the walls, replace the screens get some more furniture; basically some elbow grease and a couple of thousand dollars and you'd have a really nice place here

Nice hideaway, great for families

Nick was a good host, made sure we got settled well and brought us water when we needed it. Somewhat rustic house, no hot water in sinks or kitchen which made dishes a challenge. Beds were very comfortable, pool and outdoor setting were perfect for chillin by the pool soaking up the sun. Would recommend it for two families travelling together looking for lots of space and freedom to run around.

Fantastic Vacation Spot

My wife and I loved this house. It was just what we wanted. You'll feel like you're alone in the jungle...but just drive 4-5 mins and you're in bustling Sayulita! In the morning you can watch the sun rise through the palm trees over the mountains in the distance. In the evening you can take a VERY short drive to the beach which is large and truly spectacular...and literally lined with palm trees, for a great sunset. We saw tons of birds there as well as iguanas on the cliffs. On one end of the beach there's cliffs and a cave tunnel through it to a tiny cove. Climb over some more rocks and you're at another more secluded beach!! With picturesque cliffs bracketing either side. The house itself is great, very open concept. AC in both bedrooms which we turned on only a few times as there was an amazing fresh breeze coming through all open windows. 2 good bathroom both with showers and 1 with the biggest tub I've ever seen. Tankless hot water heater for those who like long showers. We're music lovers and I was happy to see large Boze weather proof speakers with aux cord for your phone to plug in. We just took the speakers outside and had music playing all the time while chilling by the pool or eating and under palapa. The palapa was massive with a large hammock and table and chairs. The pool was nice and deep and clean. Nick and his wife Veronica are truly kind people they each stopped by to check on us. I couldn't get my roaming package on my cell phone to work so emailed Nick with some questions kinda thinking we might be outta luck not being able to call. We we're in Sayulita very early the next morning getting some incredible coffee at El Fortin! Nick pulls up on his ATV saying hey I got your message Ha! I would recommend renting his truck cuz town has some big hills. And the opposite direction from town has some great roadside eating spots too. Like Real Fish Taco in Higuera Blanca, we ate there 4 times I think. Just when we didn't want to take large truck down tiny Sayulita streets. We had keys to house but didn't lock it we had no worries about security. The entrance road to house has a security gate with a remote that he gives you. We're not resort people and we don't want that type of feel. this place is open, laid back, tucked away, country style living, bigger than we needed but just what we wanted.

Quiet get away

This was a relaxing, quiet (apart from the wonderful jungle noises) getaway, close enough to Sayulita but far from the action and the scene. You need a car to stay here. The house needs some TLC and maintenance, but it's spacious and comfortable. The pool is great, as are the fruit trees. Nick is helpful and nice. It was a good place for my family, which included my husband and six year old - we could have fit another family there. Be careful of the back yard zip line, as it currently has no stopping mechanism. I would say big kids only.
