The home was exactly as described. We stayed the second week of October 2024. We were looking for some quiet time and time to recharge our batteries. We really enjoyed watching the horses from the front porch. It was our first time driving out to Carova Beach and we're glad we followed all the suggestions we were given about airing down the tires and timing the tides. We recommend this home and will be back ourselves.
Wonderful stay. Horses are beautiful. Son loved driving on beach. Only suggestion is no place to put clothes wish a small chester drawers or at least a place to put suitcase. Not all things can be hung up. Otherwise very comfortable.
We love the beach location because it’s remote and less crowded. Perfect for our kids and dog. The house is very simple and yet very comfortable for a single family. Very clean and functional. Definitely have to have 4x4 vehicle to access location. We had a wonderful week. Very easy to get in touch with owner. We simply loved it!
If you want to pack up and experience a stay in the 4x4 section at Carova Beach my family highly recommends this house. The hosts are great communicators and super easy to deal with. The check-out process was by far the best we’ve ever seen. No long list of things to clean or as we call it “pre clean for the cleaning team”.
House has everything you need, linen, towels, stocked kitchen ready to cook and the hosts even had 5 gallons on the water cooler in the kitchen and a brand new bottle waiting for us when we arrived. We’ve never seen that!
I’m a truck guy and hate seeing my vehicle bake in the sun. What an awesome sight to see several, huge, live oaks in front of the house and lining the driveway. I was able to keep my truck in the shade the whole trip. Two swings and a hammock are located in these trees for the kids, too. Comfy beds and huge couch with great internet and plenty of porch with rockers and a dining table with chairs.
Our plan was to bring EVERYTHING we’d need and not go into town once arriving. Even the best laid plan fails to survive first contact. The lengthy drive down the beach became tolerable each night if even a little enjoyable as we saw the horses many times and even a lightening storm roll in.
All in all, great home, set back in the trees with an unusual amount of privacy and a chance to see the horses in the front yard. Clean, fresh and ready to impress. The ONLY complaint was that VRBO had “sauna/spa” listed but there wasn’t one.
"Our family had an absolutely delightful stay at this charming home! It was just the right size for our spring break retreat. The outdoor space was a highlight, offering endless entertainment with games like cornhole, and delightful visits from the wild horses in the mornings, all while we savored the serene view from the deck. The kitchen was well-appointed with fantastic amenities, making meal prep a breeze. Plus, the convenient proximity to the beach was the icing on the cake. We wholeheartedly recommend this property and can't wait to return for another memorable vacation!
We loved the location of this house in the Outer Banks. If you want to truly rest from the busyness of everyday life, this is the place. Even in December, we were able to sit on the deck and read books. Saw horses and collected beautiful seashells at the beach. It has a beautiful kitchen and comfortable living room area along with three nice sized bedrooms. Definitely need 4 wheel drive to get to and from. Prompt communication should you need to communicate with property owner at any time. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
The house was just as described, perfect for my husband as well as our dog. Private but close to the beach. Property owner was easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay again.
Overall it was a great house! Very clean, small and perfect for what I needed. Private and quiet! Could use some dressers for storing clothes out of your bags, but I made do.
We were looking for a place to stay on Corollla Beach so we could look for and see the wild horses and also enjoy the beach with our fur baby. This house was perfect! Clean, easy to find, easy check in with great communication. We also had fun driving around the area and saw wild horses every day! Highly recommend this place - we would definitely come back!!!
Everything was just as listed. House was perfect size, comfortable and clean. We saw many horses, deer and beautiful sunrises! Followed air down procedures and had no trouble with beach driving.
Enjoyed the peace and ease of a 4x4 beach vacation. We saw lots of wild horses. The house was clean and well equipped. It was a fun, memorable trip for everyone in our group.
Great property to spend some time at the beach. Parking passes allow for parking your truck right on the beach. No traffic and no problems…just make sure you get your supplies and a full tank of fuel. Good communication and good tips from the manager for a stress free week. This is a very friendly area that we expect to visit again soon.
This was a great find! The house is tucked in on a no outlet road so there is very little traffic. It is only a 4 minute drive to the beach. Melissa provided drinking water, along with all the other essentials to make our stay cozy. Our kids loved the swings outside and the corn hole boards. On our second morning we woke up to a knocking sound under the house, which to our surprise was three horses! They hung out for about an hour which was neat to watch while drinking our coffee. While preparing for our trip, Melissa was quick to answer all our questions we had about the house. It was a relaxing vacation thanks to all the accommodations that was provided by Melissa. We hope to stay here again in the future!
To actually get to the house, you need to take the beach access road which was pretty exciting the first time around. Even though we have an all-wheel drive vehicle, the drive was too rough for us. We really enjoyed our stay at the house though. It was clean, comfortable and the host was very accommodating. We loved seeing the wild horses also! Not sure if it was the weather or the time of year, but the waves were too high and violent for swimming. We did however enjoy walking on the beach with our dog.
This was our first experience using VRBO and obviously our first experience with a host. This adorable little house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina was perfect for my wife and I celebrating our 30th Anniversary.
The host was quick to respond to any questions and the property was exactly how it was described. Very clean, easy access to the beach via a short drive. Just know you need a good AWD or 4WD to get to the property. Our Subaru Outback Wilderness had NO issues getting there and exploring the back roads of 4X4 beach searching for the famed wild horses.
Worth every penny!
This was the most memorable vacation we’ve taken since our retirement the beach -the horses - we were lucky to at least see one every day we we there - and really lucky to find one resting on the side yard of our Vrbo rental for almost an hour we just couldn’t take our eyes off of him and on our way out there were many horses on the beach - wonderful vacation!
In a word: quiet. This is the place one comes to get away from it all. Place is practically new, located among live oaks and loblolly pine. Home has everything you need provided you bring the basics w/you, if not you are 40 minutes to nearest gallon of milk. No one stumbles into 4x4 section of Outerbanks by accident, if you know, you know!!!
We tried something new this year and spent time just our immediate household for Thanksgiving. We loved the property! We’ve been to Corolla before, but stayed in town. Would definitely recommend staying here behind the dunes!
