Great house for a big crew

We stayed a long February weekend for skiing at Sugarbush and the house was great. Roughly 18 of us and had plenty of room. The kitchen is huge and works great for big meals. Ben was very accommodating and replied quickly if we had any questions about the house.

Beautiful Property

We had our wedding on the property. Just like us, our guests were floored with the set-up. The place was perfect for our wed-fest event. Our friends stayed in the house and camped. House has a campy feel and there isn't much to it, but everyone was comfortable and able to spread out, given the use of the property, yoga studio etc. You just can't beat the pristine natural beauty of this place.

Family ski vacation

We used this house for a family ski vacation with two families with teen kids. The cooking stove was wonderful for cooking large meals and even has a griddle. It was really nice to use the wood stove and we were thankful that wood was provided. I really loved hiking the trails on the property and enjoyed the frozen pond which is very close. Owner's dogs who would visit us occasionally which was fun. The owner does live only a few hundred feet away in a separate home. I would describe the home as old farm house. It does have some quirks that you would expect from the age. The beds were a little springy and the washing machine would sometimes give us an error msg but everything worked out in the end. We skied Sugar Bush and Killington which were a about a 30 min drive. It was a lovely place to spend a week away from everyday life. Thank you for the stay.

Our Amazing Wedding at the Farm

We had our wedding at the farm during our favorite and most beautiful season in VT. How perfect it was!! The setting was extraordinary in every way. The backdrop of our outdoor ceremony was the magnificent fall foliage of the Braintree Mountain Range. Our reception took place in the barn and provided lovely and ample space for our guests, our caterers and lots of dancing. And the view from the barn was just amazing too. We used the yoga studio for a class the morning of our wedding which was a great way to ground us at the start of the best day ever. The house was super spacious and comfortable for us and the guests who were staying with us. People took full advantage of exploring the trails and ponds around the property. Ben was also super communicative throughout the process of planning our wedding at the farm and the weekend of which was very much appreciated. He was great to work with!! We all had a wonderful experience at the farm. It was the most perfect day and weekend!!

40 person wedding - amazing location!

My husband and I had a small, 40 person wedding here 09/10/2016. We rented the house, barn and yoga studio for the weekend, with our closest friends and family spending the weekend. The Barn: The barn is BEAUTIFUL and HUGE! I mean, massive! You can easily fit over 150 people in here. We even ended up having our ceremony in here and it was no problem, as we just opened the large barn doors and walked down from the upstairs (due to rain) and it still ended up wonderful! We had the dining set up family style, with a BBQ buffet on the other side of the barn. The tables/benches came with the barn and fit around 40 people on them. This was an added bonus as we didn't need to rent anything, just threw some linens on top of them. We had no issues with mosquitoes, but were prepared in the circumstances that there may be some - not a problem at all. We also had a fire on Friday night, roasting marshmallows and hanging out. If you like the rustic barn look, with an amazing view, this is your place! The Farm House: The farm house was just an added bonus, but nothing to write home about. It's comfortable enough, some of the beds are really hard and there were a lot of flies but honestly... it's a farm house and again, it was just an added bonus. Yoga Studio: LOVE the yoga studio! We all got ready here and it was perfect! Before the ceremony, we all ran to the upstairs of the barn so no one could see us. I would definitely rent this out if you choose this space. Hosts: Absolutely wonderful and responsive! Ben and his wife were a pleasure to work with and so helpful in every which way. Overall, this was a wonderful wedding and just as we had always hoped. Thank you all for making it possible.

Great place to stay with a large group

We enjoyed our stay! The farm house was perfect for our group of 4 families, which included adults and young children. There was plenty of room to spread out, play board games, eat meals and even watch a movie using the projector screen (we used the WiFi and streamed movies). Ben was very accommodating to any concerns or questions. The kitchen was great and all the amenities were good. The fireplace kept us toasty and warm and was a perfect gathering area. We would highly recommend the farm house for a large group looking to enjoy the peace and nature of Vermont.

Breathtaking wedding location on permaculture farm

My husband and I chose to get married at this gorgeous property both because of its pristine VT beauty and the values that it represents as a working permaculture farm. The house is large enough for over 20 friends and family and is cozy and clean, with everything you may need. We were able to have our rehearsal dinner in the house with over 30 people. The barn is unmatched in construction and views, with a panoramic vista of the VT mountains spanning an open side. Our guests were blown away by the views and loved hearing about the ongoing education and beneficial land work going on at the farm. We appreciated being able to compost our food scraps and keep waste very minimal. There are many nice trails on the property, a large fire pit area, and multiple ponds to explore. You will wish you could stay forever!

Picture Perfect Farm Wedding

My husband and I had our wedding of just under 100 people at Satoyama Mountain Farm, and it was absolutely perfect. Every inch of the property is well thought out, beautifully manicured, and just stunning. Not only was the property gorgeous beyond words, but Ben and Erica were very gracious hosts. They were available to help out with anything we needed. They even provided a list of recommended vendors to help make planning a breeze. The house is warm and inviting, perfect for our wedding party plus a few extra guests to stay in together for the weekend comfortably. There are not enough kind and positive things we can say about our experience at Satoyama Farm and the Falks. We strongly recommend this location for any event!

Beautiful Farm + Barn Wedding

This property is what dreams are made of. Ben and Erica steward this farm in such a beautiful and thoughtful way. It was the perfect wedding. We filled the farm house with family and wedding party. The house was clean, well maintained, and a great layout for sleeping lots of people. The kitchen is huge! We cooked dinner for 40 people at the house and roasted smores outside in the bonfire. Ben and Erica were super responsive - he even harvested a swiss chard and herb salad from the garden for us. The wedding itself was outside and the backdrop was beautiful. We had the dinner + dancing in the barn and we barely even needed to decorate - the space Ben built is just that beautiful. Our friends echoed all that I have said - it was the best wedding ever. We hiked, swam, and did yoga on our wedding day!! Incredible. I could not recommend this property enough. Thank you Ben and Erica!!!

Spectacular Wedding Venue

This was such a special place to have our wedding weekend. After a thorough search of similar locations throughout Vermont, Satoyama Farm caught our eye and it took about 3 minutes of being on the grounds for us to know that this was the place for our special weekend. We were taken back by the stunning views, relaxed vibe and by our positive first-impressions of Ben. After booking the venue, the lead-up to the wedding was positive in terms of communication and straightforwardness. Ben and his father were responsive to our questions within a reasonable timeframe and were both helpful. Our only frustration throughout the process was involving the event insurance, which felt convoluted at some points. Streamlining this process could take away some significant hassle, especially for fellow DIY-ers like ourselves. With the event insurance frustrations aside, the rest of the process was smooth and allowed for our wedding weekend to be even more glorious than anticipated. Ben and family were on site throughout the weekend, which turned out to be reassuring and made for quick solutions to our questions/problems. They easily blended in and were busy doing their own thing, and we were more than happy to share some of our food, drink and conversations with them. The facilities were more than sufficient to have 50 people for our event, and we are really happy that we decided to stay in the house with close family and friends for 3 nights. This allowed for ourselves and the other house guests to get to know one another and to explore the grounds, and we absolutely utilized all that the farm had to offer, especially the ponds to cool off on our oppressively hot weekend. Also, guests walked the grounds, we had dinner and dance in the barn, had our ceremony in one of the open fields, took pictures in multiple picturesque locations and also had a fire the night of the wedding. The house itself was well stocked with enough kitchen utensils and appliances to prepare our wedding food, community breakfasts and other meals. It was critical to have the additional refrigerator space in the barn, which allowed us to better house our prepared food. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Satoyama Farm, and strongly recommend it to other people who are looking either for an exceptional, serene location for an event or for just a relaxed weekend away.

A naturalists/ modern farmers dream!

Our entire experience was flawless from start to finish. I was looking for a location to host my cousins' bachelorette party, and this fit the bill in every way. Laurel is a farmer who loves to jump in bodies of water and spend nights under the stars. Ben kindly gave us a tour of the property, explaining how the land was zoned, what was planted, and how his work would shape the nearby area in years to come. We swam in the pond, hiked around the property, enjoyed the sauna, and had champagne & s'mores around the fire at night. The house itself is enormous, and we all gaped at the amount of bedrooms and how nicely they were decorated. The kitchen and living area are lovely, and well suited for cooking group dinners, relaxing and playing games. We even utilized the yoga studio before leaving! Ben was more than accommodating, and the property itself is majestic. Just listening to the wind move through the trees is enough to make you want to book your next stay.

A Fantastic Place!

We went with a large group for four days. We had an amazing experience. The house is really well set up, comfortable beds, very good kitchen with everything you need. The barn and the yoga studio are so lovely to be in. And the land is magical. Two ponds to swim in and a gorgeous view of the mountains. Ben is really taking care of the place. We will be back!

AMAZING getaway!

We had the most magical time at Ben's farmhouse. First of all, the love that he has put into the space is palpable- he has handmade furniture, perfectly curated each room-- to give it an incredibly warm and welcoming feel. We had 20 people stay there including a 6-year old and a 4-year old kid and we didn't feel cramped at all - yet it still retained its intimacy. Ben was also incredibly helpful- i was getting an order of flowers to the house for my wedding and he put a note up for fed-ex so they would leave it at the door. The property is also incredible- ponds, mountains, and stillness. It also boasts a yoga studio with huge glass windows and a porch-- we practiced there every morning and meditated as a group. We all left feeling like we walked out of a magical fairy-tale. Thank you so much for making our wedding weekend incredible-- our families and bridal parties got to bond and we all made new friends and unforgettable memories. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to get away, reconnect with themselves, and the pure essence of Vermont.

Rustic Cozy Wintery Beauty!

We were a group of young scientists from a research university in Boston coming for a weekend retreat to have fun and relax bringing spouses and a couple kids. 21 of us total including two little ones. This place was perfect for a large group with the large kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and plenty of bedrooms. The views were spectacular, and the fireplace was so cozy. We had a fantastic time relaxing, enjoying nearby skiing, exploring Rochester, and just lounging to shared meals and playing games in the evening in the spacious living room. Ben (landlord) was very gracious, providing a gift of some chocolates & local brew for us, offering plenty of firewood, and being just a text away if we needed anything. We would absolutely stay again!

Special place for a Wedding

Ben and Erica's property was a perfect location to host our wedding. We were comfortably able to accommodate our families in the big farmhouse, which has lots of common space for relaxing, and a well proportioned kitchen where we could cook shared meals. The Barn is amazing, both in its design with large windows providing lots of light, and the setting, looking out onto a beautiful landscape of fields, ponds and mountain ridge line. The weather pushed us inside for the ceremony, which we held on the third floor of the barn which cozily fit our guests (about 100 of them). We hosted a large group of people for a dinner in the Yoga Studio as well, with beautiful wood floors and surrounding deck and which overlooks a small pond. The setting for this all, a working permaculture farm, really makes this a special place, with space to take long strolls through the fields or mature forests. The hosts, Ben and Erica, are super friendly and responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We recommend this location for anyone interested in hosting a large group of people in a beautiful part of Vermont.

Visiting the Farm in Consideration of Scheduling a Wedding and/or a Family Reunion

A Beautiful Wedding and Family Weekend

We had a family wedding here for 125 people combined with a family reunion. Site is over 150 acres - magnificent with long mountain views, open fields, forest, hiking trails, several large ponds for swimming, animals. Very quiet; Evening skies were clear and awesome - cannot see any lights anywhere from adjacent mountains. Some couples camped in the open fields. Wedding took place in a large timber-frame barn that is a sight to behold. House is very down to earth, comfortable, well furnished and equipped, with big inviting kitchen and living room with fireplace-wood stove- plenty of room for our immediate families. Yoga studio was a great surprise and bonus and something we never expected to have at our wedding. Ben the owner was easy to work with and accommodated a few special requests for us. Guests stayed in Middlebury and Warren, idyllic VT towns a short drive away. We even enjoyed early fall colors. We have recommended it to a number of people. In all- a great experience in a very exceptional location with relaxed ambience. We looked for a farm location for our wedding for a long time and were very happy when we found this place. It totally satisfied our desires at a cost a lot less than many other locations we saw especially considering the natural beauty and quality of the farmhouse, amazing barn, yoga studio and everything else that is available on site.

Simply magical - a stay you'll remember!

Stayed here in the summer and went back in the fall and winter - needless to say I absolutely loved it! The house is just beautiful and really spacious and cozy, with a nice fireplace and enormous kitchen. The site itself has so much to offer - the big open-air barn with its view on the mountains, 5 different ponds to swim in and a yoga studio. And, it happens to be located in the most stunning area of Vermont, with countless mountain hikes and spots to swim in rivers, areas for biking, and skiing in the winter. Already looking forward to my next stay.

Wonderful setting in the heart of VT

Recently spent a few days here with friends, and I'd highly recommend it. It's obvious that the host has put great care into making this home suitable for rent; the common spaces were spacious, warm, and comfortable, and the kitchen more than I could've hoped for. It's worth noting that there's also a ping pong table (definitely a hit with my group). The property itself warrants some exploring, too. There's a good mix of field and forest, much of which seemed to be easily accessible for hiking. If you're into photography there's lots to check out as well.

Amazing Space

This property is located in one of the most unique spots in the state. The hills facing south east have one of the most amazing views of the north hollow. The five ponds that dot the property all vary in size with the smallest over looking the 25 acres of pasture. There are hundreds of fruit and nut trees planted throughout the property, a food forest really, which can become quite distracting to plant lovers, children, animals and anyone else curious about what restorative agriculture can do. I would definitely check this place out

Amazing Place

The property has so much to see and do. From the scenic Braintree Mountain Range to the East, the various ponds, the broad acres, beautiful barn, trails throughout the woods, and yoga studio, the place is a great location to be close to amazing skiing, hiking, and other outdoors activities. The home is very welcoming and very spacious. The kitchen has enough room to cook for a large group easily, the the home is comfortable enough to spend down time in feeling right at home. Nearby is a quaint Vermont town with all you would want. The landlord was easy to work with and everything went very smoothly. Would recommend it to anyone during any season!

Beautiful, private compound, serene.

We enjoyed our time here immensely. Gracious host checked us in, oriented us to the house, fields, ponds and trails on the farm. He was available via phone if we had any questions and lives locally. Land is spectacular - our own retreat space for the family. I'm recommending this to nieces as a wedding spot someday! The internet is a little slow but otherwise all was perfect. Comfortable home, great light, lots of space. Ponds are incredible and the skiing out the door looks like it will be in the winter as well. We'll be coming back.
