Should have been better.

We lost some food due to an ant infestation. The ants even got into some medication but it was all sealed and no harm was done. I went to Food Lion and got some ant and roach spray. We also had a higher than usual amount of roaches. I think roaches are common at the beach, but we saw and killed several more than we usually see. My wife decided to sweep the floors, the only broom had a short broken handle and was caked with dog hair. Kind of unusual for a no pets allowed house. No dust pan was on site so she was able to cut a paper plate for a dust pan. We are used to sleeping in a cool house, I set our home thermostat to 68 at night. The thermostat here only allows for a lowest temp of 72. We were uncomfortable at night, waking up covered in sweat. The biggest issue to me was the lack of handrails on the basement stairs. As a professional in the building trades I would consider this a major life safety issue that should have been addressed years ago.

Bumpy to smooth

The website was misleading with their statements re: a TV in each bedroom, but Proactive intervened and made things “right” for us. This property was convenient. Prior tenants hung up pots and pans that were filmy and sticky, so we hand washed everything we used. We loved the tower at the top of the house.

My wonderful vacation at Seawatch towers

The house had a tower where you could overlook the houses in front of you so you can view the ocean. I went up there every morning for coffee. The house was very comfortable and spacious for our family. Clean as it could be.and made us feel like we were home. Loved the pool. Location was great.

Holden Beach

We enjoyed our vacation because we were with my two children their spouses and my two grandchildren. We were scheduled to vacation in May 2020. Our children decided not to go since we were in a pandemic. I checked with the rental company and it took quite awhile for them to decide to let us reschedule to September. The house had a nice layout, the pool was great and a short walk to the beach. However, the cleanliness was not acceptable especially during a pandemic. The reason I waited to give my review was because I was hoping the rental company would respond back and say thank you for letting us know about the problems and that they would address the issues. I never heard back. We were very disappointed with the cleanliness. A few examples, cans and bottles strewn around outside, roaches in the kitchen, used tissues under the beds, doors very dirty by the doorknobs, dust everywhere, trees had been trimmed and branches still laying on the ground. I would not rent this property again.

Relaxing Vacation in Holden Beach

We had a wonderful week at this large, comfortable home. The grandkids loved the pool and that we were so close to the beach. The management company made the whole process easy. We would stay here again.

Not up to par!!

We did not stay at this home. The freezer was rusty and the inside/outside furniture was dirty or broken. Reviews said differently. I contacted the rental company, Proactive and we stayed at another house. We were pleased with the home we stayed in.

So relaxing!

We love Holden Beach and the SeaWatch Tower did not disappoint. It was a great location with a short walk to the beach. The pool was a nice way to cool off by the house, but out favorite part was sitting in the tower, reading books, watching the world go by and listening to the waves. Would definitely go back!

Great- easy to work with!

Very cute house we loved it and would come again. Beds were comfy and the Eagle nest roof top was our favorite. Great location with beautiful views and easy walk to the beach. A new grill would be welcomed but we did just fine. Thanks for our stay!

Paradise

I am shocked there aren't more reviews for this place. Sea Watch Tower was one of the best vacation homes I have ever visited. The pictures do not do this place justice. The house is very clean and well maintained. It has a welcoming charm to it that you don't get from brand new homes. The colors, furniture, and decor are perfect and not overdone. It's private besides the house directly in front of you, and the property is on a dirt road. The living room / dining room / kitchen is nice and much more spacious than the pictures make it seem. Many people could hangout in the area comfortably. The bar area against the crows nest door is very handy. The built in wine fridge gets quite cold and drink station is large enough for two people to mix up their favorite drinks comfortably. The tv is quite small and fuzzy. (But that's not why you came to the beach) The kitchen is large enough for two people to cook. Two dish washers would be quite handy for a family visiting. The stove is gas, and the kitchen is equipped with almost anything you need or forgot to bring. The bedrooms are beautiful and there is a good amount of storage and closet space to store your clothes. The bedrooms stay cool at night as there are several vents in the rooms. You could easily sleep 2 couples. Two individuals in the twin bed room. One on the futon off of the kitchen. Possibly someone on the couch. The basement is quite humid so I wouldn't recommend sleeping on the futon downstairs. The bathrooms are mildly out of date but that didn't bother me at all. The master bedroom was quite nice. The shower got hot and had plenty of pressure. I didn't use the jets on the tub but that is a plus. The crows nest was worth the price of admission. The views are amazing. Deer wander the open lots surrounding. I miss that place every night. You can see the ocean, the intercostal, and the road. Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful and a must see. Rain does not fly in unless the wind is really blowing. The pool was spotless and the saltwater is so much nicer than chlorine. The pool isn't heated and can get cool if the sun isn't shining. The fence is very private and the deck is well maintained. The grill in the back yard is in great shape and you should plan to grill a few nights. The garage has room for one car inside. The other is used for storage. Perfect for keeping the weather off of your car. 10 / 10 will be back. Thank you!!

Everything we needed.

We had a great time at Seawatch Tower. The views from the tower are breath taking. We saw lots of wild life during our stay as there is a lot of undeveloped land close by. Lots of deer at dusk. It was great. The pool was spotless even after the storm that had gone through the day before we arrived. Beds were comfortable and the set up was convenient. A most enjoyable week at Holden Beach. We would definitely rent the property again.

Seawatch Tower is an extremely charming, spacious, well-appointed house with a huge backyard and a lovely saltwater pool steps from a wonderfully quiet stretch of Holden Beach on the West Side of the island. Nearer to the bridge, there is a lot of traffic and many more people on the beaches. We loved the feeling of the house, with its wide-open common spaces and the natural wood ceilings in the bedroom. Even in bad weather, the house has good TVs and common space for watching a movie together, playing boardgames, or just watching the storm pass. The master bedroom has a beautiful sunlit bathroom with a double whirlpool jacuzzi tub big enough for two. The kitchen is great for cooking for a big group, and the porches, my god! The front porch is great to hang out on, as is the back porch overlooking the pool and grilling area, then there is a crows nest—from there you can feel the wind and see the ocean. The property is surrounded by some scrubby woods where there is a lot of bunny rabbits and deer. One of the best things about the property is the feeling of privacy and solitude—unlike many other beach properties, you don't feel hemmed in by people or the surrounding beach houses. The pool was very clean and fresh and a pool maintenance guy came and cleaned the pool while we were there. Again, its a quieter part of the island, you can see all the stars at night, but its also just a short five minute drive to the pier and the holden beach general store where you can get charcoal, beverages, snacks and the newspaper. We had very nice times sitting out in the chairs, grilling out back and jumping in the pool in the evenings. And its only a two minute walk to a pristine stretch of the beach. I would absolutely love to stay here again.
