About this property

Rest And Relax In Comfort While Exploring Mid-Coast Maine!

We welcome you to The Harbor Cottage on Barter's Point Road located in the sleepy, picturesque, fishing village of Tenants Harbor, Maine; the cottage rents from Saturday to Saturday during the Summer months and is available for more flexible bookings in the Spring and Fall. This 3 bedroom cottage is perched on an incline with terraced steps to the entrance. It is located across the street from the Harbor. There is a small shore front access a short walk away suitable for launching canoes and Kayaks. The cottage is equipped with WiFi and cable and furnished for comfort. Two of its three bedrooms have queen-sized beds and the third has a trundle bed. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen that includes a large pot for cooking lobsters. The living room, with its beautiful but limited water view, has comfortable seating for lounging while in conversation, watching television or planning your next excursion. The front deck is also a great place to drink your morning coffee or evening cocktails. There is a small grocery and also a bakery within walking distance. Bring a picnic lunch to Drift Beach located a short drive away. Best at low tide, children can frolic and build castles on its silvery sands or search the rocks for sea creatures. When you leave the beach, visit Marshall Point light and Museum then drop by Village Ice Cream in Port Clyde and perhaps, make plans to take the ferry to Monhegan Island..

If sight-seeing or antiquing is of interest, mid-coast Maine has a lot to offer. For more beautiful sights, visit Camden or Rockport to the north and find roadside stands boasting seafood and fresh produce along the way. Book a sail in Camden to the north or whale (or seal) watching and deep sea fishing in Boothbay an hour to the South. Make sure to visit the Maine State Prison Store in Thomaston, known for its handmade wooden furniture and gifts. The sailing ship in the living room picture came from there.
And don't forget the seafood. Whether it is lobster, clams, fish or crab. It is delicious!
All in all, there is a lot in the area to keep you entertained..

Getting away from it all

We spent two relaxing weeks in the cottage. The location made day trips to Port Clyde, Rockland, and Camden easy but as our stay progressed we had no desire to leave Tenants Harbor. We were in walking distance to the general store and restaurants. We enjoyed dinner at both the Happy Clam and Luke’s. Most days were spent sitting outside in the shade of the tree watching the lobster boats from the front yard or making the short drive to Drift Inn Beach at low tide. Most nights we stayed in and cooked lobsters in the steam pot provided. Our yellow lab enjoyed her daily walks and the friendly neighbors around Tenants Harbor. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed: wireless internet (for when we had to work), cable TV (though we seldom watched), washer/dryer, and fans for those warm days. It was a vacation with the comforts of home and we hope to return in the future.

Little slice of heaven!

This was a perfect rental! We actually booked this place at the very last minute after being in a horrible rental in Camden Maine. The owner was great to work with and responded very quickly to the one request we had during our stay. Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde are true hidden gems and we adored both places. We will definitely be back again!

Wonderful!

Harbor Cottage was simply wonderful! The cottage itself is clean, well kept up, and well laid out. We spent several cups of coffee each morning on the deck watching boats in the harbor. We enjoyed being able to walk just a few minutes down to the water, to the general store, or to Luke's or the tavern at the East Wind Inn for dinner. It's a short drive to Drift Inn Beach and Port Clyde, where there's a ferry to Monhegan Island and a place to rent kayaks. Linda was great and very responsive. If and when I get to go back to beautiful Maine, Harbor Cottage will be my first choice for a place to stay.

Perfect location, Beautiful views, Cozy and comfortable cottage, best vacation we ever had

We are Florida's "Snow Birds" -1st timers. For me and my wife our first long vacation became one of our best. All three months went like one long happy weekend. We enjoyed beautiful views of Tenants Harbor in the light of rising sun and in the evening dusk, right across very quiet street, spending quiet evenings on the porch, and inside the cottage, cooking local lobsters and farmers produce. Cottage is very comfortable for both of us, all household amenities were right there. Nearby shopping was about 15-20 minutes away, plenty of restaurants, and places to go, for recreation , beaches, sightseeing. When hurricane Irma hit Florida and we could not return back, our Landlord offered us to stay here for a week longer, and did not charge for this week. Now we are going back and will always remember this summer . Thank you Linda. David and Regina

We had a great time at the Harbor Cottage. The cottage was very neat and clean and had all the necessary housekeeping items to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the furnishings were beautiful and comfortable. The beds were new and quite comfortable. Nice new bathroom. We especially liked watching the water from the front porch and my husband liked being across from the dock where he could go fishing. Tenants Harbor is one of our favorite vacation spots. We love visiting Port Clyde, Rockland, Camden and all the other neighboring towns. We even find it easy to travel down to Freeport or Portland for a day of shopping from Tenants Harbor. We have been coming here for many years and stayed in numerous cottages. This cottage was well worth the price.

A Wonderful Experience

Harbor Cottage is wonderful! A terrific place to relax and enjoy one of the best little villages in Maine. The house was comfortable and beautifully furnished. The kitchen is well equipped, and the mattresses are new! Everything encouraged a restful interlude from our hectic lives. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch, coffee in hand, watching the fog roll out in the morning. The accessibility of the internet and cable TV kept my husband happy, while I enjoyed the serenity of the view of the boats coming in and out of the harbor. My daughter and grandchildren came with us to Tenants Harbor, and everyone was pleased with the accomodations. My 2-year-old grandson was especially excited by the "big boat" in the living room! And, wisely, it was out of his reach. The grandkids really loved sleeping in a trundle bed. My husband has to use a walker because of a broken hip, and he had no trouble accessing the cottage. We did have a problem with the stove when we first got to the cottage, but one phone call and it was fixed about an hour later. Very responsive. Dealing with Linda for the rental and the repair was pleasant and effortless. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for an enjoyable, tranquil get-away. The proximity of Marshall Point lighthouse and Rockland's museums and pubs and the many highlights of mid-coast Maine makes Tenants Harbor a perfect location. We have been coming to Tenants Harbor for years, and our experience at Harbor Cottage was one of best yet.

I have been vacationing in Maine all my life. My father's family came from Tenants Harbor so we vacationed there every year. I have continued the tradition with my own family. They visited their Grandparents as children and nowboth of sons continue the tradition by visiting the Harbor with their children.

Each year we plan a week or more in one or our cottages. We look forward to the fresh seafood and quiet atmosphere. In our busy lives, it is a wonderful place with an unhurried pace and incredible beauty.

Why they chose this property

This property has been in my family for years. My parents built it and it is one of their legacies to their children. Some guests bring their kayaks and paddle around the coastline, Most enjoy indulging in the incredible seafood. The ocean is visually stunning. Travelling north or south on coastal route 1 is a great way to learn about the area and we provide all visitors with a guest guide to the mid-coast area.

What makes this property unique

Access to the shorefront is just a short way away. Our guests can launch their kayaks or canoes in this area. We recommend Drift Inn Public Beach in Port Clyde, a 5-10 minute drive from the cottage for swimming and playing in the sand. This beach has a wonderful sandy expanse at low tide. Bring a picnic basket and a blanket and make a day out of it.

The Village of Tenants Harbor is just a short walk away from the cottage with scenic views on the way. The post office, general store, The Quarry Tavern and Harbor Bistro at the East Wind Inn, The Town Landing, The Schoolhouse Bakery, and The Happy Clam restaurant with its Outback Bar are nearby. Walk down Mainstreet and drop in at the St. George Historical Society to learn about the area. Continue on past the Town Office and see the sculptue of St. George and the Dragon. The Jackson Memorial Library and the Granite Gallery are only minutes away.

The Cottage is located only a short distance (10 minute drive) to Port Clyde where you can book Tickets for the Ferry to Monhegan Island, pick your favorite flavor at Village Ice Cream, enjoy the scenic view from Marshall Point Light or check out the art galleries.

We invite you to stay at the Harbor Cottage in Tenants Harbor as you enjy your adventures exploring the midcoast of Maine
