Our stay in Victoria
This is a good place to stay in Victoria, nice condo and great location, walking distance to everything! Having said that, some of the problems we had may have been one-time issues. Something happened with the cleaners, so they didn’t finish (I think?). Areas were dusty, bedding was left in the dryer for us to make up the bed. There seemed to have been some major miscommunications with the property manager. He tried very hard to make things right, but some issues were out of his control: during our stay, there was construction going on throughout the time we were there (5days), with workmen rappeling on ropes outside our windows daily, beginning early in the morning. Before we knew what was going on, we went out and returned seeing that people had entered the apartment and moved things around. We later learned from the manager that these were workmen. A group of 4 workmen/engineers came into the apartment another time(knocking first but without previous knowledge) to inspect balcony work. We can understand if construction needs to happen, but let us know that workmen will be hanging on ropes outside our windows while we get out of the shower?! Confusing directions were given for check-in at a “key cafe” blocks away and we had to ask how to check out: in the end it involved holding the elevator, running back to the apartment to leave the keys on the table? Only one set of keys, no instructions or notes left for us as we have found at other rentals. The apartment gets very warm in the afternoon. We thought there might be AC but couldn’t find directions for anything and decided in the end to just work around it. These issues were annoying but can hopefully be resolved by the property manager who seemed to really be trying. Victoria is beautiful to visit, and this unit would be a great place to stay if some of the issues are smoothed out. There is a pub directly downstairs that is open until 10 nightly and the water taxis are beeping into the evening. We enjoyed that but others should know it isn’t a quiet setting. All in all, this could be a fantastic rental with better logistics and communication!
