ACCESSING THE APARTMENT:
The apartment is accessed by entering my garage. Once in the garage, there is a private entrance to the apartment. There are (private) stairs leading down to the apartment.
THE PARK ACROSS THE STREET:
The park has an asphalt 0.42 mile walk/run/bike trail that circles a lake. There are two docks for fishing. There is a playground with a nice AstroTurf surface. There are some nice areas for doing yoga as well. The sunsets over the lake are beautiful. Sometimes we get slushies from Sonic (which is a 5-min. drive away) and walk around the lake at sunset.
***Please note that there are a couple small noise concerns, mainly things that I want potential guests to be aware of if they are light sleepers. I *do* provide every guest with ear plugs and there is a Marpac Dohm white noise machine in the bedroom. First, we have young kids who get up around 7 a.m., which means we are up and walking around on your ceiling around 7 a.m. Second, we have a sump pump, which pumps water off our house's foundation in the rainier season (usually spring). It's not *too* loud, but it is below the bedroom.

About the host
Your host

I grew up in Columbia, Missouri, but my husband grew up in the Kansas City area. When we got married, we moved to Austin, Texas, for 5 years, but eventually came back to settle in the Kansas City area so we could be closer to family.
I currently live above this rental space with my husband and two young children.
When I travel, I like things just so: I bring my own pillow, my own tea, my own coffee -- my own creature comforts. I don't know what your creature comforts are, but we have tried to pay attention to the details so that you feel comfortable.

What makes this property unique
My husband and I bought our house entirely for its location -- right across from a beautiful park. We love taking our kids to the playground after dinner, which we do several nights a week. And on summer nights, we get Sonic slushies from down the street and walk around the lake as the sun sets.
Soon after buying this house, we had a vision for sharing this location with other people. So, we finished the basement and turned it into this apartment. We think it's an ideal space for a variety of people. We have a lot of gear for kids and there's a playground across the street, so it's great for families. It's great if you're here on business because it feels homey while still providing hotel amenities. And in the evenings you can pick up Chipotle and unwind at the park.
