About this property
Via Porto 2 Comfort with A Class, Near Old Town
Enjoy the comfort of this property just 400 meters from the Old Town.
The accomodation consists of four new, luxurious, comfortable rooms with spacious, modernly
equipped bathrooms. The north bedroom overlooks the old part of the city and the red roofs of the old,
Mediterranean, stone houses which are brathtaking and ideal to relax, while south rooms have a beautiful view at the sea and the port. Our family has a 40 year old hospitaliy tradition on the island of Brac (nearby island, 45 minutes
by ferry from Split) where we have a large house with six apartments. In the 1950s My Grandma and Grandpa rented rooms to tourists, later my parents continued the family tradition and
they are still renting the same house , we helped them and we still help them with the job (especially my husband, my children and me). My parents live on the island of Brac while me, and my children live in Split. Via Porto Rooms is our new accomodation in Split. it,s really close to our house which is
located 200 m from Via Porto. If you need something or you have a problem, we
will be there in 5 minutes.
I, together with my husband Sandro and children: Paolo, (21) and Dea, (18) are taking care of Via Porto Rooms. Paolo will welcome you, check you in , give you all the information that you need
,he will be at your disposal during your stay and help you with check-out. Dea takes care of it
cleanliness and equipment in the accomodation.
Paolo and Dea are students. Paolo is studying economics and Dea is a dental technician.
Sandro works abroad and I am a . We like to travel, sail, meet new people, fishing
and boat rides. We have a family boat and we use every chance we get to visit the surrounding islands.
We also have a pet, Beta, she is a rescue, she's a mix between golden retriever and
a Labrador.
The location of the object is really interesting because it is located in the neighborhood "Radunica", a neighborhood where fishermen and laborers lived in charming Mediterranean stone houses with red
roofs. The North Rooms overlook this part of the Radunica neighborhood.
If you come to our accomodation everything important in the city is a few minutes away from
the accommodation . If you came by bus, boat or train, our
object is 3 minutes away from the station.
The shore is a trademark of the city, all the social life in the city takes place on the Riva, the sunny shore decorated with palm trees, full of small restaurants and cafe bars where you can enjoy
beautiful sea view.
Diocletian's Palace is the only palace from the Roman age in which people still live to this da., The palace is the heart of the city,
It is 1700 years old and a symbol of Split. Inside of the palace is the Peristil - Imperial Square on
which every day at 12 o'clock you can see Emperor Diocletian "live" and take a photo with
his soldiers. "Sveti Duje" is the main cathedral with the famous belfry. Via Porto Rooms is located 400 m from the Diocletian's Palace. Diocletian's Palace was the scene of the famous "Game of Thrones" series. If you're a fan of "Game of Thrones you will enjoy tours and excursions to which the series is the main topic.
Also Diocletian's Palace has a "Game of Thrones" museum worth seeing. In the museum
you can take pictures with your favorite characters from the series (wax figures). Next to the museum where you can take a picture while sitting on the iron throne. If you want to go to the beach, there is the , oldest and most famous
beach in Split called "Bačvice" just 500 m from our accommodation. Split has a real Mediterranean climate that is gentle and warm throughout the
year. People on Bačvice are bathing all year long, even during winter months. Also you can see some people play rhe game of "Picigin". "Picigin" is an old Split game that is played in the shallow part of beach Bač goal of the game is to hit the ball without the ball touching the sea.
You can see this game every day, no matter the season. Above the beach there are cafés from which you can enjoy watching the game and all
nearby Dalmatian islands in the distance.
If you like an active and healthy life, we recommend that you visit the "Pazar" - green market
where you can enjoy visiting stalls full of seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as traditional
food, mostly handmade, produced by farmers who have fields around the city and on
islands.
If you like jogging, go down to Bacvice beach.
When you are on the beach Bacvice you can run by the sea while passing trough several beautiful beaches and harbor with small boats and sailboats. During the summer we recommend running early in the morning or late in the evening (everything is illuminated) because during the day the beaches are full of swimmers.
From t Via Porto Rooms you can see the hill Marjan, above the town towards the sea. Marjan has numerous promenades through the pine woods, offering beautiful views of the city and
nearby islands. This is where you can run, ride a bike or walk.
If you like to eat well, 150 meters below our building there is the "new gastro street" in which
We have an old town pizzeria that is now a pizzeria and steak house "Bakra", where you can eat
the best pizza and the best steak in town. Right next to "Bakra" there is a tavern "Lučac" in which
you can taste homemade traditional specialties. The prices are little pricey but it s worth it.
A little further, within Diocletian's palace and on the beach Bačvice there are
a series of small restaurants with excellent homemade food and pizzas, steaks and more
international specialties. When you leave the building, you will see several tourist agencies (20 m from
object) that can give you additional information about their travel offers that you might be interested in.
If you are interested in shopping, in Diocletian, we have some nice little shops but if you like malls
we recommend these malls: "Mall of Split", "City Center Split" and "Joker". These are classic malls with
international stores (Zara, Mango, ...), prices are the same as in other cities,
during the summer is a classic summer sale.
If you want to go on excursions to the nearby islands (Hvar, Brac, Vis, Korcula, ...), Plitvice Lakes,
Dubrovnik, surrounding towns, rafting, canoning, zip line on the river Cetina and various other attractions,
ask us and we will help you book a trip. Also bus station, ferry port and, train station are just 300 m from our accommodation.
If you come by bike, our facility is "cycle friendly" meaning that we have a space on the ground floor of the building where you can leave your bikes.
Also, if you come early before check-in, you can leave your luggage in the room on
ground floor ("luggage storage"). Similarly, if you go on a trip or stay in town, you can also leave the luggage after the checkout.
If you arrive by plane, we can arrange transfer from airport to the accomodation and
vice versa, for a fee. If you come by car, the accommodation does not have a private parking space but there are 3 public parkings around the property . The city of Split is known for its lack of parking, if you come to town during
July and August you may have difficulty finding a free place on the parking lot.
There is a free parking in the streets around the building, but you have to be lucky enough to find yourself a parking spot.
We recommend that you use the application
Which will help you find free parking easier and faster anywhere in the city.
The nearest parking place around our facility is located at Bjankinijeva 1, type this address in GPS and
It will bring you to the nearest parking lot, less than 100 m away.
Via Porto Rooms are located on the third floor of an old urban building that has no lift as well as all other
buildings and houses in the city center. If you have lots of luggage and need help, Paolo (my son) will help you carry them upstairs upno your arrival and during your checkout He will also you
to be available at any time during your stay.
At check-in and check-out, there will also be Paool or Anamarija who will help you
Everything that you need.
As people who almost have spent their whole life in this city we can show you restaurants, locations, excursions and sights that will make your trip unforgettable and full of new experiences.
We will reveal to you all the secrets that we keep for ourselves as local people !!!
