Picturesque and quiet! Perfect place to relax and unwind. Would encourage visitors to arrive during the daylight hours. Can be challenging to find in the dark.
Absolutely loved this listing. The river is beautiful, the house is spacious, and it’s located just a fairly short drive to places like Byrdstown and Livingston for shopping or Standing Stone Park for hiking. The hosts were very pleasant and quick to respond. I would absolutely stay here again.
This was our second time staying here. It’s always a great trip. Owners are great and easy to work with. Would’ve been 5 stars all the way but showers and bath tub had slot of bugs. (Gnats and what not) daughters bed blanket had a lot of dead gnats on it as well. Other than that I highly recommend. Beautiful home and area
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful property! The location is perfect, providing a serene escape for my family, especially my mom, who has just recovered from cancer. It was heartwarming to see her relax and enjoy the surroundings. My kids were in their element, spending nearly all their time splashing around in the river, which was such a delight to witness.
The river hike was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. It offered a fantastic workout while allowing us to connect with nature. We were lucky enough to spot fish, turtles, and even a water snake, making the experience truly memorable.
We spent most of our time in the cozy cabin, which was a fantastic home base for our adventures. The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, allowing us to cook delicious meals right up until our last day.
If I had to mention one downside, it would be that the master bedroom could use a more comfortable comforter, but that's a minor detail in an otherwise perfect stay.
The owners were incredibly helpful and quick to respond to any inquiries, which made our experience even better. I am already planning our next visit!
Our second stay was remarkable. The weather couldn't have been better. Wolf River was crystal clear - whether it was fishing, floating, swimming or just sitting it was perfect. Thank you for replacing the queen bed mattress!!! The kitchen was well supplied with pantry items. Plenty of room for the 6 of us.
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. The cabin is very spacious and well appointed. We ate most of our meals in and found everything we needed - from salt & pepper, pans, knives, cutting boards to the nice outdoor grill. The listing doesn't show the master bedroom/bath, but they are spacious, and the bath has two vanities, stand up shower as well as a large, jetted tub (we didn't use the tub). Showers were very hot, and the water pressure is amazing! The porch wraps around 3/4 of the cabin and has a patio table and rockers with ceiling fans to keep you cool! The deck on the river side is large with a patio table. The deck was the perfect place to read or do yoga, while listening the flow of the river and taking in the amazing canyon view. The river is beautiful with crystal clear water. Our week was very hot so spent a lot of time sitting in the river to cool off. We enjoyed walking the river's edge to check out the rocks and nature. Lots of nature - resident blue heron, bald eagle, box turtle, lizards, crawfish. The canyon only has about 5 houses and is extremely peaceful. We only saw one set of neighbors one time. It was a great place to unplug (although wifi and tv work great)! We did a few hikes in the Pickett State Park and Bunkham cave and both were beautiful areas. We also visited The Lavender on K&S farm and thoroughly enjoyed it! Karl and Sue are amazing people with a cool story to share. Their animals, gardens and little store are beautiful!
Stayed here with my family nd each kid brought a friend. Plenty of sleeping space. Each bedroom has its own bath which was awesome. The cabin is very nice with all the amenities you need! The pictures do not do it justice as the scenery and property as just BEAUTIFUL! We rented boats from sunset marina and would boat all day then back to the cabin for dinner and a fire with s'mores as dessert. Very memorable time and great place to enjoy family! Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
We had a lovely return visit to this gem on the river. Super relaxing and private spot for recharging! Owners are very easy to communicate with and have a well-appointed kitchen and home. We will be back again! Visited the K & S lavender farm for the first time (call ahead to see if it's open and they are available for a visit) - the tour from Carl was a highlight of our trip!
This cabin was absolutely perfect. Great location, beautiful property. I do feel some of the furniture could be updated and definitely needs a bigger hot water heater. Hot water wouldn't last for everyone and couldn't enjoy the Jacuzzi because water was cold. It does need a lil more attention to cleaning as it was very dusty and dead bugs. The owners are phenomenal and we're super easy to get in touch with. Overall this place was amazing and would stay here again.

Needs a Good cleaning..
Very disappointed how dirty this place was. The beds weren't comfortable at all. Barely had enough hot water to fill hot tub. Then tue next person had to wait to shower. The twin bedroom had bugs all over it. Had 2 wash clothes for 4 days, they were all dirty and dingy looking. Tub upstairs didn't hold water. Why was the cabinets under sink filled with used bars of soap and other junk? Thats just plum disgusting. Night stand by bed was filled with who knows what?? DUST terrible on the books that were for guest to read. Some plug ins worked some flicked and some did nothing at all. The view and neighborhood was very nice. Our stay wasn't terrible, but could of been a lot better. FOR $300+ PER NIGHT I expected a whole lot better. Probably will not ever stay here again. I DO HAVE TO GIVE OWNER'S CREDIT FOR BEING VERY NICE AND SUPER FAST AT RESPONDING.
The view is beautiful and relaxing. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The layout of the house is great. 2 neighborhood dogs visited occasionally, which was unexpected but ok. The lighting was a bit dim for our liking, and it wasn't as clean as we would have liked it to be, but other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Only change a couple things. The lighting was very dim. Add ac units upstairs. Freezing downstairs and hot upstairs. We loved the wraparound porch and the swing. The grill was an added bonus! We will be back.
This property was just beautiful and worked very well for our family’s mini vacation! If you like listening to the sound of a river flowing, this is the place for you! We all spent a lot of time on the deck listening to the river and watching all of the visiting hummingbirds. All places have pros and cons and one con to this property is the railing for the loft and the stairs railing coming down from the loft is not the safest for small children. Also, the property description should really say “3 bedrooms” and not “4 bedrooms” as an open loft is not a bedroom. Other than that, we really loved this place!
The location of the house and property were easy to navigate. Spacious wraparound porch, and phenomenal view - pictures of the view listed in this ad are accurate, but do not serve justice as to how spectacular they are in person. Great for dogs, lots of wildlife, and clean.
John and Kathleen are great hosts! Very responsive and accommodating!
It’s less than a 3 hour drive for us, so we’ll definitely return.
Thanks, John & Kathleen, for a great stay!!!
Nature's at your doorstep. We were very content staying most days at the house enjoying the river for fishing, swimming, and short floats. There are many parks, trails, lakes, and other outdoor entertainment close by. Mammoth Cave is a 2 hr drive.
We experienced a lovely visit, despite the rainy weather. Such a serene, gorgeous area! Spent many hours walking along the babbling creek, hunting for fossils and floating on the water. The house had comfortable furnishings; I loved the eclectic style, so perfect for an upscale country cabin. A nicely appointed kitchen provided everything needed for cooking. The cabin was only a 20 minutes drive from the Sunset Marina area, where other family members stayed. Byrdstown, with an IGA grocery store and restaurants, was about 10-15 minute drive. And I obtained a weekly pass to the Twin Oaks Wellness Center in Albany, KY for rainy day workouts, only about 25 minutes away. Great location. And a wonderful stay!
Although we didn’t travel with kiddos, this cabin and its location is perfect for entertaining children.
Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us! We had an amazing time making memories here and even got to include our four-legged family member, who loved river walking! The cabin was cozy and included nearly all the amenities we needed during our stay! From the washer/dryer to the pots/pans in the kitchen to a fire pit outside - this place was just wonderful! I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to unplug from technology (although I worries - there is great internet and Direct TV!) and connect with nature! Plenty for the kids to do and explore! In addition to the cabin, we also rented a pontoon boat from Sunset Marina and spent the day on Dale Hollow Reservoir and went caving at the Cordell Hull State Park (does require a permit, but it is free). Thanks again - would definitely return!
This property is magical! It is even better than the pictures. The hosts are easy to talk with, and the property is perfectly cared for. My sister, me, and our children stayed for nearly a week and have already planned to return next year. The sound of the water and easy access to the water are perfect. We highly recommend this house!
The house was charming and comfortable for our family of 4 including 2 children, the property was beautiful, and the river so relaxing. The owners are very responsive and helpful with any questions we had during our stay. We really enjoyed getting ice cream at the forbus general store, and a lovely morning tour of the lavender at k and a farm (highly recommend checking that out). We would definitely love to come back!
First, although the photos posted are great, photos cannot do this little slice of heaven justice. The property is well kept, clean, and inviting. Just beautiful!
We have stayed at several cabins in the smokies but done compared to this one. We were totally impressed with the inside and outside of the property, loved having the river at the back yard so relaxing. And yes we will come back.
The location was perfect for the getaway we were looking for! If I could give it a 10 for location, I definitely would! This house is beautiful and very family friendly! We loved the stay and would definitely stay again!
