About this property

Cozy Log Cabin In The Woods - Friends And Families Welcome!

Nice and cozy 2 bed, 2 bath log home. Sleeps 8 comfortably, could sleep 10 utilizing the futon couches in the living area. Two floors with the main floor holding 1 bedroom and both bathrooms. Second floor is an open loft and bedroom in the back. Wake up to nature all around you in a quiet neighborhood just outside of town. Have Coffee on the Porch while you plan your day.
Great fishing in the area including King, Sockeye, and Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Vardens. Fishing is fairly steady from mid-June to late September depending on what you want to catch and what river you fish. The house site contain a fish processing shed with commercial vacuum sealer and a 10.5 cu.ft. freezer, large enough for everyone’s catch.
Soldotna is centrally located in the Kenai Peninsula. You will be located 5 mins from the Kenia River. 20 mins from the Kasilof River. You will be in close driving distances to Homer, Coopers Landing, Seward, Russian River, and Ninilchik River. All perfect places for fishing, site seeing, golfing and shopping. One of our favorite thing to do is in Kenia on the shores of the Cook Inlet when the tide is out rock hunting for Agates, and Geodes. There is something for everyone's tastes.

Great Stay

Great cabin. Well appointed and spread out enough that the three of us had more than enough room. Cheryl the owner was easy to communicate with. Saw the northern lights and moose from the cabin.

Fantastic cabin

This cabin was perfect. Love that she uses your phone number for the keypad. Brilliant. I'll bet everyone is doing that in a few years. Cabin incredibly well stocked (even things like honey) with spices and food. Loved the gas fireplace. Wish we could have figured out how to turn it on - but it was delightful when going. Great place - easy to find and close to everything from Fred Meyers to the ocean. Loved it

Alaska cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts, Cheryl and Steve were very accommodating. You can’t beat hosts who give you fresh halibut, smoked salmon and home made hot sauce!! The cabin was great. There is so much to see on the Kenai peninsula. We booked a float trip with Captain Forrest Luking on the Kenai river. Our guide’s name is Jerrod and he was awesome. We caught our limit in salmon. The cabin also has a fish processing shed, with a vacume sealer and freezers to keep your catch in until time to take it home. Everything we needed was supplied!!

Alaska Trip Dream House

We take a group of guys fishing in AK every two years since 2000 and have been staying in RV's. No longer! This house is the fishing man's dream house. Complete with freezers, vac seal machine, waders, etc. We had 8 guys this trip and had plenty of room to sprawl out, wash clothes, cook meals and relax. Several of the guys still had to work and the Wi-Fi made that possible for them. Great house, booking for 2020 already. Also, Soldotna is only 5-8 mins away and has all the grocery stores and places to eat that you need. Great beer at St. Elias Brewing and pizza at Pizza Boys. Thank you Cheryl for allowing us to use this house and looking forward to another great stay in 2020.

Favorite Rental Ever

We’ve stayed in this cozy cabin 2 years straight. Very clean and has EVERYTHING you would need to enjoy your stay in Soldotna. The kitchen is great with all the pots, utensils, appliances, and many staples to make you feel right at home. The full size washer/dryer lets you pack light. The Wi-Fi never failed and there is Direct TV if you want. The owners also offer up a detached fish house where you can clean, vacuum pack, and freeze your fish, not to mention many fishing rod/reels so you don’t have to pack those. There is a great grill outside and a fire pit to make those s’mores. You are about 50 miles from Homer to the west, about the same to Seward to the east, and just about 10 minutes to Soldotna. We even had moose in the yard one day, and a huge caribou on the street. Awesome place! I’ve already booked next year’s stay. The owner, Cheryl, is great to work with.

Great Stay!

The cabin location was perfect for our fishing trip. The cabin is in a neighborhood but the property is still secluded enough to have the outdoors feel. The cabin was warm and roomy and had everything to make our stay comfortable, including fishing reels, waders, grill, fire pit, etc. Will definitely be booking this one again!

Awesome week to remember

I have had the awesome opportunity to stay at this location on many other visits to Alaska but with every stay the last one is always better than the one before. We experienced great fishing for Salmon and Halibut. The weather was much better than what we were expecting. The Cabin was very well stocked and with many amentias. Everyone in our group was very impressed with this property and said that they would like to come back again. I am going to schedule another visit very soon. Thank you so very much for making this visit so special. Best Regards,

What a Wonderful Home!

This property was perfect for our family. It met all of our family needs and we would love to stay here again when we return to Alaska. The owner was very nice and provided everything we could possibly need for a pleasant stay. The price was so affordably incredible. I would recoomend this home to anyone looking for a place to make their home away from home.

About the host

Hosted by Cheryl Lyttle

Host profile image
We are the Lyttles. We live in Michigan over by the Grand Rapids area near Lake Michigan. We, like so many people, went to Alaska on a vacation and fell in love with the place. If we could have we would have moved right then. We love hunting, fishing, camping, everything to do with being outdoors and experiencing the wonders of nature and the world around us. Alaska has all those things and more for us. We love our home in Michigan but we enjoy every minute we spend in Alaska. So we are hoping to do both.

Why they chose this property

We like this location because Soldotna is such a great place. It is centrally located to all the places we love to visit when we are on the Alaskan Kenai Penisula. We can travel short distances to go fishing, shopping and exploring. It also has all the things we wanted in a community. The people there are friendly and very helpful. We feel like we are home when we are there. Our plans are to eventually retire part time in Alaska, for the summer months. In the meantime, we wanted to own a piece of it, so we can go and be part of what we fell in love with every chance we can get.

What makes this property unique

We loved this house because it is a log cabin with a wonderful layout with a loft. Our daughter wanted the whole loft to herself, of course. It has a beautiful front porch that looks out into the woods. Then there is the cool fire pit in the front yard also. We love campfires and making marshmallows. We also like how close it is to town so when we need to make a run into town to get something or go out to eat. We can get anywhere we need within 5-10 mins.
