Nestled under a canopy of oak trees, and located within walking distance of historic Gruene, Texas, our guest house is a two-story "home away from home" for guests desiring a cozy, romantic retreat, a gathering place for family, a refreshing spiritual retreat, or a secluded spot for quiet work. In the style of an historic, German Sunday House, your experience will be reminiscent of a stay on the ground floor of an old home with the conveniences of modern amenities and easy recreation. Also, Andy, the cat, will be freely roaming the property and will happily come to greet you!

Parking: one parking space provided but we can provide additional parking if prior arrangements are made.

Cozy Retreat
Loved our stay at River Haven. Very much enjoyed our evenings on the porch watching the deer. Close to historic Gruene. Nice base for our daily excursions around the greater San Antonio and New Braunfels area. Comfortable accommodations and the hosts were great.

Awesome Hill country experience!
Great hosts! Gorgeous, comfortable bed with high-end linens. Shirt drive (3 min!) to Gruene Music Hall and all the wonderful shops. Wonderful ambience at this home. We will come back if the hosts will have us!

We both very much enjoyed our stay here! It was cute and cozy and very relaxing! Many deer walking around the property was amazing. One mile walking to Gruene. I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my stay, Both times! The week prior I visited with my boss and we stayed on the second floor it was amazing so I had my following visit booked the same day I returned home from the first visit. The property is very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The Hosts, Kathleen and Greg were So kind and welcoming. This will definitely be the first place I check availability for next time I am down that direction. Thank you so much for hosting my stay. I will be back for sure!

My husband, daughter and I were attending an old friend's debut at Gruene Hall, so location was important. The front porch caught our eye when booking. What a treat it was to sit in the rockers with morning coffee and watch the deer.

River Haven Guest House on the first floor
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River Haven Guest House on the first floor. The owners (Kathleen and Greg) were extremely nice and a pleasure to talk to. Their place is tucked away just down the road from Gruene and has all the comforts of home. It's beautifully furnished, extremely clean and has everything one needs! Whether you're sitting on the front porch in the morning having a cup of coffee or in the evening enjoying a glass of wine, you'll see deer grazing in the front yard. We went for walks every morning as well, and the deer were everywhere. It's absolutely a beautiful location! We have visited Gruene and New Braunfels many times over the years and would highly the River Haven Guest House! As a matter of fact, this will be our first-choice next time we visit! You won't be disappointed and without any hesitation, we give it 5 Stars! Thanks Dirk and Khristi

My sister and I spent the weekend in Gruene for a girls getaway and birthday celebration. Kathleen and Greg are absolutely wonderful hosts and their property is pristinely kept. The accommodations were wonderful. I look forward to staying here again in the future!

The room was the perfect size and very comfortable and decorated nicely. The addition of the coffee pods and snacks was very nice. The AC cooled very nicely. It was a nice quiet neighborhood and the baby deer running around the yard was a plus.

Beautiful Place
The location is a great place to stay, so close to all sites in historic green but quiet enough to enjoy the beauty that the hill country provides. We enjoyed our coffee in the mornings on the front porch! The suite was just as beautiful on the inside. I highly recommend this location and the owners Greg and Kathleen are wonderful host, they were the icing on the cake!

Returning Visit
This is the 2nd time we've stayed here - once upstairs and this past weekend downstairs. We don't require much room, but both spaces are plenty for 2 people. There's not an amenity missed here. It's quiet, close to Gruene, and just a pleasant place to stay.

River access is only a half mile from us, and the village of Gruene is one mile away, however, and we have the unique quality of being desirable for every season, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, where guests can enjoy shows by artisans, seasonal activities, superior music at Gruene Hall, Whitewater Amphitheater, River Road Ice House, as well as numerous nearby smaller venues in Gruene and New Braunfels. San Marcos Outlet Shopping is a 20 minute drive away and downtown New Braunfels is 11 minutes away, and you will find abundant night life, antiquing and shopping there, also. Don't forget Wurstfest in the Fall!
