About this property
A beautiful cottage in tranquil Bordeaux wine countryside, South West France
Le Mûrier is our second lovingly restored holiday home nestled in the vineyards of the Bordeaux region, close to Saint Émilion. You will fall in love with the beautiful vines and trees surrounding this gite as well as the gardens which provide sun and shade. The cottage has an airy and spacious living space downstairs with a well designed, contemporary kitchen, a relaxing living area with traditional log burner and a comfortable dining area to seat four people.
Upstairs, the first bedroom has a king sized bed, a large built in wardrobe with drawers and vineyard views. The second bedroom has two single beds that can be converted into a king sized bed, a traditional Basque style wardrobe and views of the vines.
The bathroom is modern but also retains traditional features such as the oak beams that are a feature throughout the vacation home. It has a patterned tiled floor, a one metre shower cubicle with rainforest shower and sink unit with drawers. As well as this, there are full length and magnifying mirrors in this room. Rituals toileteries are provided including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand wash.
The whole cottage has been architecturally designed and balances traditional French features with the new, making it a characterful and relaxing space to live and relax in.
Outside, you will find a hammock under the lush, cool canopy of Mulberry Tree leaves standing outside your gite as well as various comfortable seating areas. You will also enjoy a decked outside living area with barbecue and dining table and chairs. At the poolside you will find sun loungers with thick, comfortable mattresses and parasols to shade you if you require.
If you'd like to book both of our gites together for a family or group holiday, get in touch and we will be able to offer you a discount.

About the host
Hosted by Penny

Mike and I moved to France from England in 2015, after having researched the exact location we wanted to settle in over a number of years. We wanted to set up a holiday home business in a different country and experience a new culture. We absolutely love living here and Mike has enjoyed renovating the two gites we now rent out to holiday makers. We love welcoming people to this beautiful part of the world and seeing them unwind and relax, leaving the cares from their day to day lives behind them.
Why they chose this property
Our property is perfect for us. We adore old buildings with character and the three houses and two barns we proudly own have these attributes in abundance. The views of the vines and woodlands surrounding us fill us with a sense of calm and happiness each day. Bliss!
We can visit a French market every day of the week, taste and buy the best wine in the world and visit beautiful towns and cities such as Bordeaux and Bergerac. We love the food in this region too and enjoy treating ourselves to amazing meals out in the fantastic choice of restaurants we have. Our lifestyle is much more relaxed than it was in England and we enjoy working on our home and garden every day. We're so grateful that we have had the opportunity to build a new life in France and can't imagine living anywhere else now.

What makes this property unique
Our gites are super impressive due to the fact that Mike was an architect and so they are beautifully designed and renovated, mixing the traditional with the modern. They have real character, including original oak beams and beautiful stone fireplaces. Penny has always had an interest in interior design and so the furnishings and colour co-ordination are easy on the eye and very comfortable. We also provide luxury toileteries and a generous welcome pack of food and drink, plus all the bits and bobs you need to make your stay hassle free, such as olive oil, kitchen roll, condiments etc.
However, perhaps the most stunning aspect of our property is the tranquil, calm and relaxing outdoor living space which overlooks a vineyard and woodland. It includes a recently renovated pool including new, comfortable sun loungers with mattresses and large parasols. Dotted around the very large garden are tables and chairs as well as very comfortable sofas and armchairs with plenty of cushions for your relaxation. The mulberry tree provides welcome shade in the height of summer and relaxing there in the hammock is a truly joyous experience. Outdoor living is a consistent aspect of holidaying at Cousserat and cooking up a barbecue to enjoy at the outdoor dining table is a must, after aperitifs of course!
