About this property

Cozy, hideaway retreat in the trees

This is a lovely two bedroom apartment in a fourplex with its own private deck overlooking a grove of lush trees. It is well insulated from sound and temperature, close to major bus lines, and a five minute drive to PSU, OHSU and downtown. The apartment is close to the South Waterfront, several parks, and nearby shopping centers and restaurants. It is practically downtown, yet situated on a quiet street with no outlet. Bring your bike and store it safely on your private deck.

This spacious, cozy home away from home is completely furnished with very comfortable beds. The kitchen has just about everything you'd need to cook all your meals. The surroundings are park like, with trees providing shade in the summer. In winter, when leaves are off the trees, there's a view through to the Willamette River (and lots of moss and ivy!). Comfortable outdoor chairs on the deck invite you to sip your morning coffee or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. There is a reserved off-street parking spot right near the front door.

Living room: Lots of windows. Smart TV. Coffee table. Access to private balcony with outdoor chairs and coffee table.

Kitchen: Circular table with sturdy chairs seating up to 4. 4 burner stove and oven. Fully stocked kitchen with dishes, cookware, silverware, some Tupperware, spices, oil, and coffee. Washer and dryer. Full sized fridge.

Bathroom: Tile shower with bathtub. Cabinet with some extra storage.

Bedrooms: Queen sized beds, closets with hangers, and dressers for your clothes

OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE:

I have learned over time that every VRBO is different and every guest's expectations are *very* different. It is my goal to make sure that I am as transparent as possible up front so that you can make the best choice for yourself on where you would like to stay.

PET POLICY: I've recently begun accepting pets, as scary of a risk that is for me! All pets must be approved in advance. You must confirm that the animal has no history of property destruction, indoor urination/defecation, aggression, or excessive noise. I expect you to have the animal with you or crated when you're not home. In order to maintain an allergen-low environment for other guests, I have our cleaners do deep cleans after every animal stays there and hire a carpet / upholstery cleaner if necessary. Any undisclosed pet will result in a large penalty. FEES: Dogs and cats: 14 days or less: $100 // 15 days or more: $200. This fee does not cover any damages caused by the pet that result in excessive cleaning or repairs

ESAs / Service animals: If you have an ESA animal please send me a copy of the paperwork including the letter from your healthcare provider. If you have a service animal trained to help you with a disability, I will be asking you the following legally allowable questions: 1) Is the service animal required because of a disability? 2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? (Your disability does not need to be disclosed)

NOISE: No excessive / sustained noise allowed. No parties. No yelling. Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am. This building is well insulated, but you do have neighbors above you and beside you. You may likely hear muffled voices, muffled music, occasional muffled dog barks, and people coming and going from the building in the shared stairwell. You may also see other tenants on their (separate) balconies. Also, with the doors and windows closed, you will not hear the highway. However, when you open the doors, you will hear the far-off sound of highway noise -- not individual cars or trucks (more like the ocean ;-))

NO SMOKING: No smoking anywhere on the property, not even the balcony. Smoke travels to other tenants' apartments.

CLEANING: Sometimes a cleaner does a poor job and it catches me (and you!) off guard. Please let me know if the cleaner missed something(s) important and allow us to fix the issue. I assure you that we strongly value cleanliness and any lack of cleanliness is not on purpose. I do want to advise, however, that this apartment was built in the 1970s and there is only so much you can do about regular wear and tear aside from an apartment remodel. So, I please ask that you keep this in mind when booking. I do not have luxury rentals – just cozy, clean, lived in spaces.

Wonderful place to stay.

We have stayed here previously and it was just as wonderful this time as last time. The parking was right at our doorstep which was great since it snowed.

It is truly a retreat in the trees. The condo was amazing!

This place was awesome. I did not for one second this that I was staying in the city. The view of the trees with the squirrels right out side made it feel like home. Very clean, and comfy beds.

Love this place!

This is our second stay in this property of 4 condos. They are comfortably furnished, I can cook a full meal here easily for family dinners and the beds were cozy and super comfy. We love this area, convenient to downtown Portland as well as waterfront and other fun areas like Sellwood, Hillsdale and Lake Oswego.

Lovely retreat in the trees

This was such a nice little place to stay - I loved the "no-neighbors" view from the balcony in the back. Very pleasant experience - Nancy and Nina were great to work with. I'd come stay again!

Great Apartment, Great Location, Great Owner

We had a wonderful time in Portland at Nancy's apartment. It truly is a retreat in the trees, but also easy to get to and just minutes from downtown. The back "yard" screams rainforest and makes an amazing backdrop for your morning coffee. Having a dedicated parking spot right by the unit was wonderful because there isn't a lot of parking on the street. The area is quite, a few blocks away from resturants and such but very manageable. Nancy was very responsive to our needs and questions during our stay. The apartment was very well stocked with towels, sheets, etc., and the kitchen supported our needs. We would stay again!

Like staying in a treehouse.

This was a nice place to stay. The apartment was very clean, and pleasantly decorated. I was thrilled to see the Cuna Indian molas on the wall! Many things were available, such as fresh coffee beans, various kitchen staples, paper goods, and laundry detergent. The balcony with the beautiful view of trees, birds, and a squirrel was where we spent most of the time, when we weren't out seeing the area. Be aware, though, the couch has seen better days, as has one of the beds. We would stay here again, though.

Great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the retreat in the trees. The house was clean and well stocked. I especially liked that the house had some children's toys and books to keep my kids entertained while we unpacked the car. It was not within walking distance to much but it was an easy 15 minute drive to just about everything we wanted to do (Oregon Zoo, Children's museum). It was on a very quiet street and the view of the trees was very nice. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Perfect Place in Portland

The space is beautiful and close to lots of interesting things. It has a lovely back porch. They had Guatemalan coffee, the bed was comfortable, it was quiet. Really, I hope we can stay again.

Very clean apartment. Many buses with good frequency take you downtown in 10 minutes. Wish there was an alarm clock in the bedroom.

Location, location, location!

The home was perfect for our 3 generation wedding trip. It was very kid-friendly. Our grandchildren played for hours with the toys that were provided. It's so private, quiet and when standing on the back deck it looks like you are up in the trees. The only negative was our queen sized bed in the room next to the bathroom was too soft and I didn't sleep well. According to our daughter & her husband, the other queen was fine. We will definitely stay here again. It was 10 min from everything! Great place!

Clean and private

Good location, you will need a car though and there is an allotted space. We stayed when it was 100degrees so it was hot, there is an inside aircon which we had to run. We would definitely stay again.

Nice two days vacation in Portland

We've been in Portland a few vacation days and stayed in this nice and very clean apartment. It's just 5-7 minutes from downtown but it located in very quiet and nature area where you can enjoy it from the balcony. I would recommend it to the others.

Quiet apartment in Seattle.

Quiet and wooded apartment that would work well for anyone with a car. Not walkable to much. Air conditioner was quite loud but helped control the temperature. Hosts were accommodating with baby bed and booste seat. Unfortunately weren't able to accommodate our late checkout. Overall nice and adequate place to stay.

Clean and comfortable

The condo is in a fairly quiet are of southwest Portland. There is not much food within walking distance, but plenty within a few minutes drive. A raccoon visited us our first night from the forest off the back deck. Really cute! Nina and Nancy were really flexible in having to accommodate us for an unplanned additional night.

Nice, Quiet but a little far afield

Nice place, plenty of towels, tastefully decorated, killer view and a friendly squirrel that visits the patio overlooking a wooded gully. The only bad part was we had to uber everywhere because it's not really walking distance to anything.

wonderful

A lovely 2 bedroom apt tucked away in a cute little street with a very green and calming view. Everything that one might need was available, including a pack and play for our little one. The owners were very responsive and flexible. And location is fantastic - close enough to downtown and sights but also far enough away. We felt right at home!

This is a perfect place to stay. Beautifully furnished home in a perfect location for our visit. The back deck is a true escape from a warm busy day. I would definitely recommend this home and would certainly consider it if we return to the area.

I grew up in the Portland area, attended PSU and earned my master degree in counseling from Lewis & Clark College. I love to read, write, garden, bike ride, cook, paint, and travel. I've climbed mountains but now I just hike in the Columbia Gorge. I love my dog, two cats and three grandkids. I've owned and managed rental properties for about 25 years. I enjoy solitude and being with people. Life is always a balancing act. Nancy

Why they chose this property

This 4 plex has a great view to the south, the location is really convenient, and the building itself is well designed inside. It has excellent sound-proofing, so you rarely hear someone in another apartment.

What makes this property unique

The apartments in this 4plex all have large windows and sliding glass doors facing south. This means lots of light, even in our grey Oregon winter. The street is a dead-end with very few residents, so there is virtually no traffic. This makes it safe and quiet.
