The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped. Portable heaters warmed it nicely in the evenings. While situated on a quiet road, it was convenient to everything we wanted to see.
This was the first time we had to pay for sheets, however. That was our only disappointment.
I have been looking at this property for a few years but it was always booked. Finally we booked it for three weeks in July and it was just as I had hoped. Such a lovely home, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. My husband and I were both impressed that for a relatively small cottage the floor plan is excellent. A large kitchen, updated bathroom, living room and a separate sitting room. The yard was lovely with blueberry bushes and we sat on the deck of the tool shed some afternoons. All in all a lovely experience and communication with the owner was easy. She always responded quickly. We used to live in BBH and it’s really nice to find such a lovely rental for our summer visits.
The cottage met our needs... quiet surroundings by the water... casual interior spaces.... comfortable bed....near Boothbay and Botanical Gardens.. efficient kitchen... lots of windows.... short walk to Robinson's wharf
The cottage was quaint with nice wooded surroundings and was a convenient proximity to all things Booth Bay Harbor. My friend and I had a very lovely time and the property owners were easy to communicate with. Would recommend.
My wife, sister and I had a wonderful time in the Southport community and a fantastic stay in the cottage. The cottage, it was as if my 12-year-old self awakened in a dream full of warm comforting ambience and feeling at home. A perfect setting for we three.
The host could not have been nicer or more helpful. She helped my husband arrange a lovely surprise of flowers and tickets to the near by Coastal Botanical Gardens. My sister was with me for a few days and then I was on my own. We both felt safe there. Important for us. Loved the location as well. Had a great time driving along the coast and eating our fill of lobster rolls. Loved Maine and the people there. I hope to go back soon.
The cottage was cozy and comfortable. Our hosts took the time to create a welcoming environment. We loved the sun porch for reading and relaxing. The decor fit the Maine vibe. It is conveniently located to area attractions and restaurants.
I enjoy cooking and we usually eat in and take advantage of the excellent seafood markets. The kitchen was well stocked and it had an amazing selection of spices. We were very impressed with the cottage and plan another visit next year
It was clean and out of the way of touristy Boothbay Harbor. I also like cooking so the Kitchen was perfect.
I kayaked Biked ate lobster and fish and visited Coastal Botanical Gardens
This adorable, cozy cottage was just right for our week in the Boothbay area. Close enough to everything, but on a quiet street about 5 miles from town. The house was well equipped. There are some minor repairs that the cottage could use (weatherstripping on door between porch and kitchen) and a couple of broken windows. A couple more lamps in the living room would also be nice, but are not a requirement for comfort in the space.
We loved spending time in your cottage and Lesa was incredibly prompt and personable before and following our stay. I'd recommend for anyone looking for a small but comfortable stay for two to three people.
This cottage was very well equipped and relaxing, with multiple porches and rooms to chill out. We were very comfortable. The communication with the owner was fantastic. She quickly answered any questions that we had. Would definitely stay here again.
The cottage was very clean and had everything that we needed.. good location and very quiet .. only thing we missed was an air conditioner..otherwise the fans were useful
This a comfortable cottage within a short drive of central Boothbay Harbor and it’s many shops and restaurants. Even better, it is well equipped so you can bring your fresh lobster dinner back with you from one of the many near by lobster pounds (do it yourself is always better).
Great communication with the owner if there are any questions. We would stay again.
Wow, you will want for nothing if you stay here, that includes any essentials or the location, it was perfect. Lesa was awesome to work with, everything was smooth sailing.. We used both heaters and fans during our stay, you never know what the weather will be!
The kitchen has more stuff than my kitchen! Every dish, pot or pan, kitchen gadget, lobster pot, towels, pot holders, trivets, spices, everything you could think of plus chilled glasses in the freezer.. We enjoyed our week very much, thank you!
Charming cottage that met all our needs. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped and very nicely decorated.
Great location with lighthouse and botanical gardens very close. Just one note that we read Reid Park as being just over 4 miles away it's actually over 40 miles.

About the host

We are a family of 4 that has fallen in love with the Boothbay Harbor area. When we bought our cottage, it needed a lot of work. Since my husband is a carpenter, we have been able to do most of the work ourselves. We spent many, many weekends remodeling, painting, plumbing, etc, including the year that we had it lifted and a foundation put under it. Our 2 two daughters have been very involved with creating our wonderful getaway, even when all they wanted to do was stay home with their friends. The four of us have put our hearts into our little Maine cottage with the hopes of it staying in our family for generations.
Why they chose this property
The reason we chose this cottage was, I'm pretty sure, by complete luck. We spent many years traveling to Portland and in 2000 we thought, what the heck, let's see if we can own a place in Maine. We drove to Boothbay and toured the area falling in love with it. We drove all over Southport, asking people if anyone they know was interested in selling a cottage. With no leads, we decided to subscribe to the local newspaper. In the very first issue we recieved, there was the listing we had dreamed of. The 4 of us packed up and drove to Maine 3 days later, bid against 4 other families and got our beautiful Cottage. From that day on, it has been our labor of love.
