Comfortable large country house
We two (and 3 others) stayed in this well-equipped country-style house for a week at the end of September. The pool is lovely and the house comfortable but I would not call it "luxury". The wine glasses were small and cheap which was a pity given that there is some lovely wine to drink in Languedoc and especially from the wine "caves" in neighbouring villages. There is probably a "bread lady" who comes to this very small village in the high season but there was no sign of her when we stayed in Cabrerolles. Can recommend the baguettes and pastries in nearby Laurens and the little supermarket there (buy the fresh chevre and sausage there - divine!) - it's very friendly too. Magalas has a bigger supermarket. Upstairs in the house is the nicest place to be (as the downstairs is rather dark and basementlike) and there are lovely views on a clear day - we did have a few cloudy ones (and even mist and a thunderstorm). Roquebrun is a lovely village about a 1/2 hour pretty drive away - you certainly need a car here as it is really in the countryside - pretty, but if you want amenities, cafes etc in your own village, this is not the place to be.
We enjoyed our stay but it was not quite what we expected. The owners also took over a month to return our bond - and we had paid it a long time in advance of our stay - in other places we either got it back as soon as we left or didn't even have to pay one.
