Wonderful spacious villa with fabulous views
This villa was all that we wanted and more. Plenty of space, well equipped and comfortable. The views were incredible and everything was clean. Perfect! It's on a steep hill above Kalkan. Walking to bars and restaurants in main town was possible but steep walk back up. Luckily the taxis are cheap and easy to get so this was no problem.

Amazing outdoor space!
Villa Kuyu sits above the beautiful village of Kalkan. A 15 minute downhill walk into town and short taxi back. This affords the Vila stunning views. The pool and outside space is great with loungers, BBQ and dining. The villa is well appreciated and the owners help and communication was excellent. Would definitely go back.

paradise
We stayed at Villa kuyu with friends, could not have worked out better. We were all thrilled when we arrived by the standard of furnishings, decoration and equipment it was delightful. Woke up to the most amazing view of Kalkan. Breakfast on the terrace by the pool, Bread, jam,Tea, Coffee, milk and butter had been provided for us, so no panic for shopping. The pool area is large and well equiped with umbrellas and very comfy beds and small tables, also extra seating by the bbq. which is shaded. Then there is the garden with lovely shrubs and a well, which we were told Kuyu means. There is a small grocers and greengrocers near by 5/6 mins walk, very handy for fresh bread in the mornings, also useful if you forget anything in the town, fruit and veg are of good quality. Walked down to Kalkan, took us about 15/20 mins, if you do this in the evening, it was dark when we were there, a torch is useful as the first track down is unmade, walked back once, we are not that fit, didn't do it again, but no need as the taxis are plentiful and cheap, about £5. and the Yali supermarket will take your shopping back to the villa for free. The Butcher on the left hand side, just before the roundabout is very helpful and speaks perfect English, he will make up BBQ packs for you and his chickens are good value and very tasty. We cooked afew times and found everything we needed to hand, this villa has had alot of thought gone in to it and nothing has been left out. If you are not cooking then there are more restaurants in Kalkan than anywhere I have ever been, we loved the roof terrace ones down in the old town, never had a bad meal, I don't eat meat but always had plenty of choice, fish, fresh that day and vegetable dishes, pity its not the same at home. The owners take great pride in serving you and will always recommend dishes and bring tasty treats for you to nibble while you choose. We took the ferry across the bay, no beach but comfy beds on terraces and good food. We were going to do more but could not tear ourselves away from lounging by the pool and wandering round Kalkan, you are not hassled in the shops, and fake leather bags are very high quality. Have run out of space, could go on and on, but, if you are looking for paradise go to Villa Kuyu in Kalkan, but not when I want to go. Thank you Lesley and Julian for sharing your holiday home with us and all the infomation you gave us, it was invaluable. I have no qualms about recommending this to anyone. Enjoy.

3 Bedroom Villa but great place to stay as a couple
Had a fabulous stay at Villa Kuyu, we came last year and couldn't wait to return!!! The villa has everything you need for a relaxing holiday, plenty of space and fabulous views over the bay. Everything in the villa is bright and airy, spotless and clean, the furniture is contemporary and very comfortable. There is a good size roof terrace with seating area, sun loungers and table and chairs - ideal for enjoying sundowners! The Pool man/Gardner arrives early each morning to clean the pool and water the plants, the garden has a productive lemon tree, mulberry tree and banana plant and sometimes the odd tortoise. We really didn't want to leave and look forward to returning soon, I cannot recommend this villa enough!

Perfect holiday
Villa Kuyu was absolutely perfect. We have stayed in a Villa in Kalkan before and I have to say it was knowhere near as nice but a similar price. We wanted something walking distance to the town but still with a nice view, a private pool and a BBQ. This place ticket all of those boxes and more. The living area is spacious and well kept. The kitchen is clean and has everything you could need. Bedrooms are perfect with reasonably comfy beds (I always find villa and rentals abroad have fairly firm beds). Pool is lovely with plenty of sun beds and bean bags for relaxing. The BBQ, dining and seating area is shaded which is lovely especially when the weather is so hot! Only two of us were staying here but I would happily come back and share this place with another 4-6 people. There is plenty of room. Lesley was extremely helpful providing directions to the villa which we found easily even though we were driving a rental care from the airport in the dark. The location is great, although we found it use film to have a car when dong food shopping it certainly isn't essential. We walked to town every evening but got a taxi back. Also I suggest taking Lesley's advice on restaurants as we had the two best meals of our trip on her recommendation. We will certainly be recommending to friends and family.

fantastic family villa with stunning views
My husband and I and 3 children aged between 13 and 7 have just arrived back from a 2 week stay in Villa Kuyu and it was fantastic. Lesley made the whole booking procedure very easy and gave brilliant recommendations on every bit of holiday information you may require. We used Abi Travel for transfers who also manage the villa in Kalkan and they were faultless. The villa itself is superb and has been furnished to a very high standard. The pool terrace is huge there is plenty of shade but for sun lovers you wake upto sun streaming across the pool and you can still be sitting on a sun longer at 6.40 in the evening. We didn't hire a car but managed to walk into Kalkan most evenings with the children it took about 15 minutes and taxied back. Kalkan is gorgeous with about 200 restaurants and the food is fab. Read the comment book in the villa for recommendations. We also visited Kalkan Beachclub which the kids loved and I would recommend to families, the others are more for couples. We hope to return very soon.

the holiday that has it all
This villa is brilliant. very spacious and comfortable. it was very tranquil but easy to get to the local bakers (short walk) and buy fresh breads, honey and local produce and extremely cheap prices. Villa Kuyu has it all, luxury pool, great terrace for meals, and well equipped. the nearby restaurants - short drive away are fab, the Town is very pretty and boat trip that we had was just the best (muddy boat). the people in the shops do not hassle you, they are so friendly and helpful without being pushy. great for young, old and families. I would certainly recommend this villa to family and friends.

A beautiful villa
The villa was beautiful, spacious, clean and modern with ample living space and large bedrooms and bathrooms. The patio area was large and the infinity pool was fantastic. The villa has stunning views of the town of Kalkan and hills and sea in the distance. Certainly made for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The owner provided great customer service from start to finish and recommended places to visit, eat and a contact if we needed one during our stay. We found the local town Kalkan very welcoming, pretty and found there were a number of wonderful restaurants to eat in. The food was delicious and fresh everywhere we ate. We particularly enjoyed a boat trip from Kalkan harbour taking us to local islands and sights, and a visit to a gorge nearby. We would definitely recommend this to both friends and family as there was something for everyone here. Thanks for a great holiday.

Fantastic!
You will not be disappointed with Villa Kuyu-it is a well appointed spotless and in a great location. This is our second visit to Kalkan this villa met all our needs. The terrace is huge and met all our demands for shade , sun and water. The arrangements for booking and on arrival could not have been easier and the local agent made every effort to see all our needs were met. A fantastic holiday and we would not hesitate to recommend both Kalkan and this lovely villa.

Hot, Beautiful, Relaxing
I have been away a number of times using Owners Direct and this was by far the best property I have been to. Its exactly as described and the location is peaceful and relaxing. The walk down the steep hill into town is easy, and the taxi back each time was around £4. The villa is perfect for 6 (as we did) and the facilities are ideal. The infinity pool is clean and the view stunning. Lots of places to shade from the sun. Kalkan is magical and every restaurant lovely. The people are lovely and the highlight was a moonlight boat trip which all of us thought was amazing. We want to come again.... In fact none of us wanted to come home!

The wow factor
Villa Kuyu and Kalkan surpassed our expectations, which were already very high! The villa is beautiful, stylish, large, airy and very comfortable. All bedrooms have their own bathroom and balconies with breathtaking sea and country views. The lounge, dining room and kitchen are perfect. However, outside is even better. Absolutely stunning. Very spacious too with sun loungers, bean bags (a first for me and so comfortable) ottoman, and two separate seating/eating areas, plus the garden with the tortoises.... The infinity pool is large enough to swim lengths properly, and is cleaned at least once a day. Very peaceful too, but not remote. Kalkan town and harbour is about a 15 minute walk through pretty streets. A taxi back was our preferred choice and cost circa £5, but there is a bus. The restaurants provide superb choice and the food and service amazing. Our top choices were The Olive Garden and Sinbads, but in truth all were lovely. We (two girls) felt safe at all times and were treated so well. The scuba diving with Dolphin was fantastic, and Kamil, the owner very professional and helpful. I hadn't been diving for a while, so he looked after me. A day out in this boat, two dives from different sites, and lunch, for only £40. Water skiing is better from Kalamar bay, and half the price. Hassan the owner was great, so was the skiing. We loved it so much we have already booked to return this September, can't wait! Thank you Lesley for such a brilliant venue.

Fabulous
Went here for 12 days with three friends. Luckily 2 friends travel regularly to this villa so knew where to go and what to see. The villa is set up above the harbour with fabulous views over the bay. The villa is amazing. Fantastic accommodation throughout. Three double bedrooms with en-suite to two and separate wet room to twin bedded room on top floor. The pool was cold but it was April and the start of the season but is kept clean daily. Good quality sun loungers on the patio and comfortable outside seating for dining, relaxing or sitting on a bean bag dangling your feet in the pool to keep cool. A car is necessary to get around the area or to travel as we did up the coast to Olu Deniz or further south to Kas. Lots of places of interest on the coast. Plenty to see and do in kalkan. Market on Thursday which is full of bargains. Lovely restaurants including Vegetarian on the harbour serving fresh meze. The villa is wonderfully clean and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Contact numbers available for any emergency. Can't wait to go again. 100% recommend this place

Villa Kuyu - Family getaway
Our stay at Villa Kuyu in Kalkan was amazing. The villa is exactly what it says on the tin! Its clean, spacious and well equipped. The situation on the hill means it is quiet and private and has wonderful views of the bay and Kalkan. The locals are extremely friendly and if you can ignore the restaurants and bars selling themselves you can find the most wonderful places to eat and drink. The Korsan Fish Terrace and The Fountain Bar are just a couple to try out. Adems restaurant out of town is also a good place to eat where Adem himself will come and pick you up and drop you back! There are numerous beaches to choose from and accessible by car which you will need if you have children as the walk from town is steep in parts and twinned with the heat it can be tiring. Our two children (3 and 5 years) were more than happy in the pool all day and along with a DVD player for sun escape, tortoises in the garden, restaurants happy to cater for them and pizza delivered to the door it was excellent as a family venue. On the road above the villa is a chap who sells fruit and veg, this is the place to get your fresh produce! Its a shame you cant get hold of fresh fish for yourself to cook although next time we are there we shall look a bit harder as there must be some for sale somewhere! The costs when you are there are not bad at all no surprises there. There are lots of activities and excursions to do via boat and 4x4. The only thing that made us feel a bit uncomfortable was the hard sales and haggling in the market our children where with us and it was not the best experience. This was our first holiday abroad with the children and we were apprehensive but the support from the management company and the locals meant this was such a wonderful place to have a family holiday to remember. There is always someone on hand to help and the transfers and car hire are easy to organise with a door to door service. Well recommended - in fact we cant wait until the next time we visit!

"I wish I was there now"!
We've recently returned from our two weeks holiday at Villa Kuyu, Kalkan. This was our first visit to the area and to Turkey, so we were unsure what to expect. How delighted we were to find that the description, location and facilities were exactly as described in the brochure - in fact the views were even more stunning. The villa was spotless, spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with all the fittings and furniture to a high specification. The swimming pool, terrace area and attractive garden were ideal to sunbathe and relax. They were well maintained with daily visits by a Gardener. Two cleaners came weekly to change linen etc. The owner had recommended Abi Travel for car hire and transfers to and from Dalaman Airport. The company provided an excellent service throughout our stay and were very patient and courteous in answering our many small queries. We travelled around the area by car with visits to Xanthos and Kas. We didn't go on the many boat excursions on offer by the harbour to the many beaches around Kalkan as we were happy to make use of the facilities at the villa. The many lovely little shops in Kalkan are a great draw for those who enjoy "retail therapy", with friendly and polite locals and shopkeepers. As the name suggests, Fener Lighthouse Café is situated in a great location to relax, have a coffee, lunch or evening meal and watch the many boats and yachts move in and out of the harbour. We particularly enjoyed meals at The Fish Terrace and The Olive Garden. Kalkan is very hilly with quite a steep climb back to the villa, so on "night's out" we used the local taxis which we found reliable and reasonable. For some reason they all knew the whereabouts of Villa Kuyu! We would certainly recommend this property to our friends and relatives, especially now that we have already booked to return there next year. Enough said!

About the host

Hosted by Lesley Skotzen

Host profile image
Hi, we are Lesley and Julian Skotzen, we live near Beaminster in Dorset with our dogs, cats, horses and ponies. We have 3 grown up daughters and have been coming to Kalkan for holidays since 2001 and have always had a fabulous time.

Why they chose this property

My parents discovered Kalkan in 1999 on a day trip from Fethiye. Kalkan is the most idyllic setting being an old fishing village with many properties having conservation orders, it benefits from the small harbour which always adds interest and it is ideally located between Patara beach and Kas with the backdrop of the Taurus mountains behind, there is always plenty to do or see - the road from Kalkan to Kas is stunning, take in some ruins, cool down at Saklikent or just relax and enjoy the sun. Kalkan town has plenty of small boutiques, jewellery shops etc. also a great choice of restaurants - there's nothing better than eating dinner under the stars with the moonlight reflecting on the still waters of the bay - it really is a romantic destination. We love it!

What makes this property unique

We have been looking at villas in Kalkan for several years and we bought Villa Kuyu because it ticked all the boxes. It is in a peaceful location with the most wonderful views over the bay and the islands, the sun is on the terrace from morning to late evening. The terrace is stunning with a 10 meter horizon pool, built-in BBQ, pergola, seating and outside lighting. There is also a garden with lemon trees and banana plant and original well etc.. Inside the villa is light and airy with plenty of room to spread out and again the living rooms and bedrooms all have fabulous sea views. There is also the added advantage of a garage which is useful in very hot weather.
