Flushing Cove Cottage is the ideal setting for the most tranquil and idyllic holiday. Situated in a very pretty garden consisting of sloping lawns, rhododendrons and other flowering shrubs, right beside the beach in the mouth of the Helford river. The cove is at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac and as cars are not allowed to park this makes the beach very quiet. Storage heaters, pay-phone, patio furniture and barbecue. There is a separate laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a beach shower. There is plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers with launching facilities for small boats over the beach. Motor and sailing boats can be hired from Sailaway, just across the creek at St. Anthony. There is a pub in Manaccan.

We loved the location of the cottage, right on the beach and with great access to the coast path. The area is very beautfiul and very quiet and at times we had the beach to ourselves. Great for swimming and kayaking. There was a few jellyfish but they didnt sting. Lots of friendly locals too.
The cottage itself is very basic and worked well as a base but unfortunately wasnt very clean when we arrived.
Overall we were pleased with our stay as the location was amazing and we had great weather.
Property located in front of this beautiful cove, but patio/ garden and eating area is located in the back of the property, so no views to the sea (except from main bedroom and kitchen). Old, quirky little house, well equipped kitchen (though grill did not work, just bottom oven), beautiful mature garden, but lack of practical stuff like hooks for jackets, place where to store the shoes (if walking holiday), no towels rails in bathroom (new bath tub, but basic electric shower), no camping chairs to borrow to sit on the beach for an evening drink. We were lucky and had a great weather and could walk directly from the house. Lanes to get there are very narrows... so it takes a while to get there, best to have your shopping delivered and make sure you have your essentials with you (soap, shampoo, oil, vinegar, kitchen rolls etc... ). We were told that people normally bring their own camping chairs, a bit difficult when you are flying to Cornwall... Never mind, plenty to do in the area, lovely coastal paths, very peaceful location with an incredible view from the beach.

Finding the cottage
Unfortunately the post code didn’t take me down to the sea front and I went into the wrong house. Fortunately the owner thought the house was further down. When I got to the bay, there was no signage just a gate say keep shut at all times. I ventured into the grounds with a la large house to the right and a row of houses to the left. I went round the back as instructed and I found the keys in the unlocked doors. From the description on the website, I was expecting a 1 bedroom en suite, living room and kitchen. What I found was a bedroom with an en suite loo and washbasin and in what appeared to be a separate cottage another two bedrooms and a bathroom with walk-in shower. So I thought I was still in the wrong place. It wasn’t until I found the welcome folder in a basket on a work surface in the kitchen that I knew I had found the cottage,
Unfortunately to use the shower or bath, you have to go down to the kitchen and then down another staircase to the living room and the up another staircase to the bathroom. A room layout plan and a location diagram plus some signage would solve all these issue. I had difficulty opening the outside utility shed until the helpful neighbour (who returns every year mail to go walking) showed me that it was a sliding door!!
After an unfortunate start I enjoyed my stay. A new non stick pan an frying pan would be a good idea and I didn’t realise that because of Covid there would be absolutely nothing in the kitchen like oil etc. Also despite the pictures on the website, you have to stand to view the beach from the house - no view from the comfortable settee in the lounge!
Otherwise I had a wonderful and relaxing stay as the location is great.
The perfect spot for a Cornish holiday off the beaten track
We love this place. It is by the beach and has the most beautiful garden. It is also on the coast path. The views are magical. It is remote, but that is its delight. The owner is very easy to communicate with.
We had never been to this area before. Rest assured we will be back. The cottage is gorgeous and it is immediately on the creek. Our team of young adults loved using the rented paddle board and the kayak.
The cottage was perfect in every sense. Very, very hard to find fault. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.
The location is fabulous, the accommodation is cosy and well appointed and the owner communicates quickly, helpfully and clearly. The garden is beautiful. The property is remote, which for us was a very attractive feature. We are going back next year.
From the moment we walked in, we felt at home.
The cottage has a lovely relaxing feel to it, garden is large and most beautiful and the location is amazing.
We are already planning to return!
One tiny issue - it would be most useful to have soap in the bathrooms...

Location, location, location,
Lovely cottage hidden away at the end of a single track road in an idyllic setting with fantastic views.
Difficult to get back to “normal life” having been able to enjoy the tranquility of the cove & spending most of our time outdoors.
