Casa Chocolate is an amazing house !

We stayed in Alhama de Granada for two months, in Casa Chocolate, to experience 'true' Spain before moving to the Costa del Sol. The house is large and offers lots of quiet spots to read or just relax in. It's modern amenities fit in well with the lovingly restored Casa. Orla the owner of the Casa is a great guy and will help to make your stay enjoyable and has a list of helpful information available for you. Antonio who lives a few minutes for the Casa is 'adorable' this guy will do anything for you with a big grin on his face, you never need to worry with Antonio he is there straightaway to get you what you need ! Everyone in the Town knows the Casa Chocolate. The town of Alhama is stepped in history dating back to the Romans. There are layers to be explored but if hiking or biking is your thing then this is the place for you! The gorge is stunningly beautiful with the river running along its winding paths. The town has its share of pubs and Tapas bars with something for everyone. The locals enjoy their evenings strolling through the old town visiting with friends and family in the bars staying out well past midnight ! We couldn't keep up ! You won't find many English speakers here which really makes you focus on learning the language but they will try and help resulting in many new friendships ! So if you want a Cultural introduction to Spain and it's people this is the place to be ! Alhama is not a place you leave, we shall be back to visit friends like Antonio at the El Tigre bar, what a character!

Lovely large house in the center of town

We thoroughly enjoyed our five days at Casa Chocolate. We are an extended family of six (grandparents to grandchildren, ages 83 to 10) and had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is modern and well equipped--we made several large breakfasts and dinners and had everything we needed. The rest of the house is comfortable and decorated more traditionally with some Moroccan touches thrown in here and there (ceramics, etc). It was a little cool when we were there, but we loved the courtyard on the warmer afternoons and it will be wonderful when the weather really turns hot. Check in was simple and our host, Antonio, was friendly and easy to communicate with. He had stocked the kitchen with some basics--fruit, bread, milk, even some chorizo and olives, which we really appreciated.

Really lovely house

Casa Choccolate is a fantastic old house which captures the charm of this part of Andalusia. We feel privileged to have had the opportunity to stay in such a lovely house! It is lovingly furnished rather than being equipped with cheap stuff designed for holiday makers. It has everything one would find at home, including lots of books in an assortment of languages. The 5 bedrooms are roomy and the house has a lovely patio. It stays cool, even when it gets very hot outside. The house is next door to restaurants, shops etc and even parking is easy. On arrival we were greeted with a very thoughtful collection of wine, chocolate, fruit and olives. The owner, Antonio is extremely pleasant and very helpful. He also lives nearby, so getting the keys took less than 5 minutes. He also organised a baby cot and highchair for us, which was really very nice of him. Many, many thanks Antonio, we enjoyed our stay very much!!
