Tideswell village location with good local facilities and countryside walks

Sitting room adjacent to well equipped kitchen which led to outdoor alleyway washer/drier outhouse but no garden. Upstairs bathroom. Comfortable beds. Double bed against wall in main bedroom, twin beds in second bedroom over the rear kitchen. Quiet "back" road off the main road through the village with on-street parking. Footpaths to country lanes nearby and cycle trail down in the valley. Village in 2022 has Co-op, bakers, bookshop, butcher, pubs, chip shops, cafe' and various places of worship. Towns of Bakewell and Buxton not far away.

Wonderful Stay

What a beautiful location. The cottage was so so cosy and perfect for our puppy, with a yard and a lovely fire for him to relax in. Great facilities - washing machine, dryer, TV, bath etc. It was very quiet and access to brilliant roads. We got snowed in but the little shops were still open so that was fab. Bed very comfy and the sofabed in the living room was perfect for lounging out and watching TV. We loved it. Would definitely recommend. Jenny, Dave and Bowie xx

The house was very clean and comfortable, the kitchen was perfect for what we needed and there was a bonus of a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. There was a travel cot and highchair which was very handy. However the shower really lets this place down it was awful and really needs to be updated, you couldn’t actually get wet as the pressure was so poor. The house could also do with a fire guard, it’s quite cold in January so we needed the fire on but with a 15 month old child running around we couldn’t really use it for safety.

Cosy cottage in Peak District

Lovely cottage, cosy and well equipped. Ideal location and easy to find ( despite diversions due to flooding in area). Would definitely stay again.

lovely little cottage

We had a great time loads of walks from the door with our dog, in a really nice village. Will stay again. Must mention a couple of the pubs tried over charging for drinks and meals could have been mistakes not to sure.

The property is furnished with quality furniture.

First impressions were good. Nice, clean and tidy. A welcome pack was there on our arrival. Tea and biccies where much needed after a 5:30 car journey with the dogs. Loads of information regarding the cottage, local walks and walks further afield. On closer inspection we found the bathroom was dusty where the cleaner had missed the edges of the tiles but this was only surface dirt. Overall a nice little cottage. On emptying our cases and putting empty cases in the downstairs cupboard we found a sign requesting that pets be kept downstairs and off the furniture. We had checked before booking that our 5 dogs would be allowed in the property and this was the first notice we had had regarding no pets upstairs and kept of the furniture. With 5 dogs this was an impossibility for us. The rear garden is just really a 15 foot narrow walkway to gain access to the washing machine and tumble dry. A lot, lot smaller than we expected but we managed. The heating was on when we arrived but seemed to be a bit hit and miss at times. We did not call out the caretaker as we didn’t want someone coming in. We left the gas fire on all the time and this sufficed. Overall, we enjoyed staying at this property and apologise for not keeping our dogs downstairs and off the furniture (We did take throws with us and and used these to protect the beds and furniture. We always do when we have ours dogs with us. If we had known the owners rules, maybe we would not have booked the cottage). We will not be staying here again due to our realisation that we are not healthy enough for the Peak Districts and for the unknown restrictions regarding the dogs.

We really loved our stay. Perfect for a little family.

We stayed here in Dec for 5 nights. We are a family of 4 with 2 girls 6 months and 4 years old. We were so amazed at the price of this cottage for how lovley it was. It was really cosy warm and comfortable. My oldest loved her little bedroom and the travel cot that was provided fitted in there Nicely to. We loved the village to,it had everything you need and the local towns Buxton and Bakewell are beautiful. We would love to go again maybe in the summer. X

Homely comfortable cottage

The cottage is lovely and welcoming, unpretentious but has everything wned. The only drawback was the parking which is on the road. We are 2 old ladies and I struggled to read the key code as the key safe is so low down but it wouldn’t be a problem for younger people. We had a brilliant weekend, loved Buxton and the Opera House, the scenery and the history in the area. Very nice stay and we would definitely visit again.

Excellent value for money

The cottage was warm and comfortable and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We loved the gas fire, it was a little tricky to light, but well worth the effort; very cosy on a cold, dark, rainy evening! We also appreciated the coffee, tea and chocolate biscuits - a welcome treat after a long walk!

Lovely well equipped cottage, enough room for 4 adults and 2 little dogs.

Stayed for 4 nights in May cottage. Can’t really fault anything and good value for money. Tideswell had plenty to offer with 3 pubs all doing food, and our dogs allowed in all of them. Everyone was friendly and chatty. Would stay again.

We're Lucy & Andrew and have three children, ages 6, 8 & 10. We live and work in Nottinghamshire and when possible enjoy spending our time in the beautiful Peak District.

Why they chose this property

Nowhere else in the UK will you find a wide variety of stunning scenery, beautiful places to visit, a wealth of things to see and do and quality places to eat and drink in such a compact area.

Nestling right in the heart of the Peak District, Tideswell is easy to reach and is an ideal location to enjoy a short break or longer stay at any time of the year. Nearby you can visit the famous caverns at Castleton, watch Otters at the Chestnut Centre Conservation Park or visit Freshfields Donkey Village at Peak Forest.

Enjoy a trip to Matlock Bath - featuring the Peak District Mining Museum and the Heights of Abraham, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Derwent Valley from the heights of a cable car. There are also many historic houses and castles including Chatsworth House.

What makes this property unique

Tideswell is a perfect location for enjoying both the 'White' peak and 'Dark' peak areas of the Peak District National Park. The village offers everything you need for either a short stay or long holiday and the locals are very friendly and willing to help.

Guests can easily spend their whole stay on superb local walks and activities, (fishing, cycling, rock climbing) that start from the door of the cottage or use the car to travel a short distance to visit the market towns of Ashbourne, Buxton & Bakewell. Or explore one of the many picturesque villages, such as the famous 'Plague' village of Eyam, Ashford in the Water with its ancient sheepwash bridge or Dovedale and the famous stepping stones.

Short Breaks available between November to March.
Free WIFI available.
