I am looking towards the Easter holidays and have set up a discount for 7 nights to bring the price to around £1800 for a week. The two night price is around £1300. I have set our calendar up to accept 2 night bookings and the price shown for 2 nights will be correct. If you have requested 3 nights or more, I will be able to give you a discount (except in high season and school holidays). Please use the CONTACT HOST button (below BOOK NOW) to ask me what the discount is and I can adjust the calendar to give the discounted quote for you to consider if you would like to book. You might wonder why we have a small amount of reviews - this is because the majority of our bookings come from direct repeats and other UK sources.
A very spacious, airy and light, family house with views to Ballard Down to the rear. Only a few minutes level, easy walk to the beach. Very quietly situated in a residential road. Spacious parking for 2 cars to the side of the house. Unrestricted parking in the road outside the house. This is a character house, which feels like a home when you step in. It has personality and a long-loved history.
Wide, enclosed, lawned garden, good for football/outdoor games. Weber barbeque (charcoal) and large picnic table. Very comfortably furnished, two large sitting rooms, (one for you, one for the children!) one with French doors and verandah, both with TV (Freeview) and DVD. Extensive children's DVD library. Internet access. Lots of children's games - Lego, Brio railway (bring your own trains), building blocks, wooden castle and pirate ship, marble run as well as board games. Children's tepee for indoors. Jacques lawn croquet set. Boules, hoopla and bean bag targets for the garden and a house kite. We are less than 5 minutes gently sloping walk to the beach. As well as fab days on the beach in summer, (when you can run back to the house to fetch cold drinks or food), evening swims are lovely. A peaceful swim, then straight back for a hot shower. Or another option is an early morning run ending on the beach, slip off the trainers and into the sea in the running gear. Drip your way home in a few minutes and hop in the hot shower! Everything in Swanage is within easy level walking distance - shops, cafes restaurants, pubs, mini golf, tennis courts, (children's racquets at the house; bring your own balls) mackerel fishing, boat trips, boat hire, pitch and putt, children's playgrounds, crabbing, steam train, open-top buses, pier strolling, arcade, fishing, kite flying...and more! Wonderful day trips with the family to Corfe Castle (idyllic), Kimmeridge (fossils everywhere), Lulworth (castle and cove), Wareham (swimming pool, kayaking on the river, old-fashioned cinema), Tyneham (the lost village), Durdle Door, (iconic arch) Brownsea Island (Treasure Island with red squirrels and peacocks) and many more. It's a nature and walkers' paradise and when you book I give you a heap of information about walks and activities that might appeal.
Large, comfortable eat-in farmhouse type kitchen with AGA, window seat and views of hills. Properly equipped kitchen - Le Creuset casseroles, decent cook's knives etc. The table in the kitchen seats 6 adults comfortably, 8 is cosy and 10 adults is a squeeze. The house is very suitable for families and inter-generational stays and we often have children eat first then adults later. Having said that, we had New Year with adults, teenagers and younger children totalling 11 squeezed in - myself perched on a stool by the AGA. So it depends how you like it. Big front porch and generous utility room for all the beach stuff. Five bedrooms, (Super-king double, King double and twin on the 1st floor. Two twins on the 2nd floor.) All lovely, comfy beds, no bunk beds. One very large bathroom with separate shower cubicle and bath which has two entrance doors so may be ensuite if wished. One family bathroom with hand shower and bath. Both are the original twenties fixings with big baths in oak cases. The twin bedroom on the 1st floor has a sink which helps with teeth cleaning pressures. There is an extra separate loo upstairs, There is a cloakroom downstairs sporting the original Edwardian thunderbox. (4 loos in total).
It is the perfect house if you want a classic Enid Blyton holiday. Once here you don't need the car except to do a big shop at the Co-Op (or not even that if you internet shop). The house is very suitable for two families sharing who don't want to be on top of each other and also multi-generation stays as the gentle walk to the beach is suitable for all ages. We have also been delighted to welcome groups of ladies who swim, walk and relax, and occasionally groups of gentlemen walkers. If you love walking you can join the coast path towards Studland almost immediately outside the house. You can also set off directly to Corfe Castle, which is a magnificent walk along the top of the ridge with a view over to Poole as well as towards Corfe. A fantastic day's walk is to do the full loop back to Swanage via Chapman's Pool and Worth Matravers. Great pubs in Corfe, Kingston and Worth for lunch on your way.
As mentioned above, the price shown is only correct if you have requested 2 nights. I cannot set the calculator to reflect that the longer the stay the better value the price, as it only accepts per night values with no reference to the length of stay. The upshot is that if you want a correct price, please use the CONTACT HOST button to ask me directly. I do suggest the below.
You can see more about the house on its personal site which is vanewman8.wixsite.com/thewhitehouse
