About this property

Award Winning Hideaway On A Secluded Beach

Shower under a Frangipani tree, luxuriate in a cinnamon-walled spa or stroll down the hill to the beach. Overlooking a pristine crescent-shaped beach, Kadju house offers four en-suite bedrooms, an Ayurvedic spa and an infinity pool with sweeping sea views. The design blends a simple tropical aesthetic with modern luxury. The four fulltime staff include a gourmet chef. The house is located in a cashew grove just outside the fishing village of Tangalle, close to nature reserves and temples.

he minimalistic and uncluttered design of the house reflects our philosophy that nature is an essential component of living. The house seamlessly merges with the outdoors by providing a luxurious frame that mirrors the spectacular views. Our high level of personalised service represents discreet barefoot luxury at its very best. No detail is too small yet everything is simple, natural and authentic.

Kadju House provides endless opportunity for relaxation and rejuvenation. Sourcing organic food from the sea and garden, our chef cooks both Sri Lankan and European cuisine. Guests can eat at the long table in the formal dining area, on the terrace by the pool, and at any spot they like in the lush garden or on the beach itself. Therapists can provide massages and Ayurvedic treatments in the spa. Visiting and local yoga instructors offer private lessons at the house as well as group sessions at a nearby studio.

Kadju House is 190 km from Colombo, about a 3.5 hours drive.

Pradeep Kodikara received the Geoffrey Bawa Award for Architecture for Kadju House and it was listed among the 25 best beach villas in the world by Conde Nast UK

Only a handful of private homes have direct access to our picture-perfect beach, with its soft white sand and swaying palms. The warm, clear waters of the Indian Ocean are ideal for body-boarding and swimming all year round. Fishing boats land in the morning and fresh fish can be bought directly from the boats. Around the rocky headland from our cove lies a long, curving bay with more enticing spots for sun-bathing and beach-combing. Boating, fishing and snorkelling trips can be arranged, when guests may encounter pods of playful dolphins and migrating whales.

10/10 Excellent

18th October 2013

We were a group of 10 including 2 children under 9. The Villa is stunning and even better than the photographs. The staff are lovely and the chef was especially accomodating, cooking seperate meals for the children, a vegetarian and special food allergies. Although the villa is expensive, it actually works out cheaper than going out and paying for food and drink. My only criticism was the beach which you would be unable to swim as it is too rocky. However, it is beautiful and nice for walking. Unawatuna is only a short tuk tuk away. Bet holiday out of 16 times of viviting Sri Lanka. Would definitely recommend for big group of friends or family. Billy the villa dog also makes the holiday more enjoyable!

Why they chose this property

When I first saw the land it was untended for cashew plantation and covered with shrubs and thorny bushes. I walked through the bushes and discovered old cashew trees and the views from the top of the property was mind blowing.

It’s easy to access but with a sense of complete privacy and seclusion

What makes this property unique

Simplicity, attention to detail and authenticity
