About this property
Padstow, walk to the beach, family & pet friendly, open fire, coastal footpath
Bloomfield is a very traditional Cornish cottage, with original features, that has recently gone through a very sympathetic renovation. A secluded, completely enclosed garden in the back is a sun trap and the perfect setting for a relaxing summer's evening. Trevone Bay is not only famous for its beach, loved by surfers and families alike, but also for its proximity to great walks around the cliffs. The cottage is situated in the heart of the small village of Trevone, a few miles from Padstow, and very close to all the other excellent beaches of the North coast of Cornwall. Great location
Quaint cottage in great location, nice host but room not as described and inneed of decoration in parts, one room a little damp but price good for area
The house had everything we needed and it’s in a great situation for coastal walks or exploring locally especially Trevose head.
There are quite a few steep steps up to the property.
We loved it... partner on edge of tears leaving the cottage behind...kids loved the beach, surf and rock pools...well equipped kitchen.... fridge was slightly frustrating in lack of size... maybe we were trying to fit in to much beer...
Good location near padstow Newquay truro
Comfortable cottage not too posh that you feel worried especially with children or dogs
Very well kitted out with lots of extras.
Only problem would be the stairs to the front door for the elderly.
Bloomfield was cute but a little bit tired decoration wise. Could have done with a little more comfort in sitting room, maybe a rug and better lighting. Front door was not very secure and internal doors a bit rattely. Kitchen was well equipped. Bedroom linen was good. Lovely views from upstairs. Lady who looked after it was very helpful and very easy to contact.

Poor access
Cottage ok but not for mobility challenged. Access to the front door and upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom very difficult for my wife who uses a walking stick. If we had known this we would have booked elsewhere
Location is great and within easy walk of the beach and Padstow.
Kitchen well equipped with pans, cups, plates etc. Bedrooms are a good size.
On street parking is a bit of a pain and it’s not always possible to park directly outside. The conservatory at the back needs repairing and leaks in the rain, also doors not secure. A shame also that we could not use the fireplaces as the chimneys had not been swept.
Overall a good place for a family to stay, although only one WC does require patience and planning!

A filthy accommodation
On arrival we noticed some blinds and the bathroom area were not as clean as should be. Messaged the owner who apologised. Next morning had a good look at the property. Cooker and kitchen utensils were filthy, there was no way we would cook our Christmas meal in that kitchen. Fire extinguisher was rusty and no indication of annual checks. Other areas dirty, rusty radiator, no hot water for bath or washing up. No information pack. Messaged owner again that morning, Christmas eve, she could do nothing as lives out of the UK, no one local to address the issues, told her we were leaving that day and expected a full refund of our fees. Also emailed Vrbo, some exchange of emails but they've now closed the exchange.
To date, two weeks later, still only part refund and no offer of compensation for our experience in such poor accommodation.
We will not be using this site again, and if anyone was asking for my advice re which site to use it wouldn't be this one.

BLOOMFIELD COTTAGE TREVONE
Unfortunately apart from the fact that it was very tired and in need of updating and some TLC.
We smelt gas when entering property but put it down to the fact it had been shut up,so we obviously opened all the doors and windows, and it seemed ok, until monday morning i walked down stairs and the smell of gas was incredibly strong, we contacted the by email owner who sent a plumber, who confirmed a gas leek. This could have been incredably serious, just thankful none of were seriously effected.
We then didnt have any hot water for 3 days apart from the electrric showers again contacted owner and he sent umber out again.
I really feel that we should be partly refunded for our disappointing stay .
Also no infomation pack with any emergancy contacts, or local information.
The cottage is a prime location thats the only positve thing i can say.
We ended up not taking our dog because we were told by the owner he didnt want the dog doing poos in the garden, so not dog friendly.
Very very disapointed

Great base but needs updating
Perfect base for us but house does now need quite a bit of work. Ideal location, weather was glorious, Trevone is lovely but house does need updating and items replacing.
Quirky cottage, in need of a little TLC but in a great location. A few minutes walk to the village shop, local pub, beach and the South West coastal path. Great views from one of the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The shower downstairs was perfect for rinsing out the sand. We had a great holiday and would definitely go back. Thank you
I am a Brazilian lady who have been living in the UK for 32 years, 28 of which in Cornwall where I have made my home and can't think of leaving this place. I have always lived in this area, first in Bloomfield, Padstow for 12 years, where I have Skye Cottage (E6571) and now in Mawgan Porth. I am married to a local chap and both my daughters were born here, where they follow on their dad's footsteps playing golf, surfing and life-guarding during the Summer.
Why they chose this property
Bloomfield Cottage has a special place in my heat. I bought it in 1995 and lived there for seven years, when I had my daughters, who left the house still very young. They don't remember much from this time, but every time I go, I can see them running around. We used to take them down to the beach the whole year round, regardless of the weather, and the coloured glass bits framing the shower in the conservatory were collected by them on Rocky beach when they were toddlers. My husband and I bought the house from his parents and we are the fourth generation to own it. We have put it on the market twice and given up on the idea. I just cannot bring myself to sell it!
What makes this property unique
The house is a above all a family home. And that's the feeling most people take from it, I'm glad to say. Apart from the beach nearby, the walks are legendary. You can reach Padstow on a beautiful coastal walk or go the other way to Harlyn Beach, which is dog friendly the whole year round. Not being too big, make it easy to heat so the cottage is as pleasant in the Summer as it is in the Winter. Two fire places help, as well. The house dates back to the end of 19th century and it is a work in progress. We have made several reforms over the years but have tried our best to keep its original features.
