The property is lovely, comfortable and had all amenities - enough crockery / cutlery / saucepans etc…. Loads of wardrobe space, only negative is they could do with set of draws in each bedroom. Also some local pamphlets, info, walks etc…. As you spend a lot of time on the. Internet searching, it’s sometimes nice to have info to flick through.
All in all beautiful lovely stay, would highly recommend.
A quirky barn conversion, beautiful views from the large garden. Property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We were a family of 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs.
Very lovely views of the sea on the one side and a beautiful view of the countryside filled with Fresian cows on the other side. loved it!
Great for little kids and Dogs , very safe!
Very well stocked kitchen. Beds weren’t very comfortable , but all in all I do recommend The Byre.
The property was spotlessly clean and we felt at home straight away. The kitchen is very well equipped and the garden was fantastic for our children to play in. Would definitely recommend!
The property had enough room for my partner and our four grown up children. We loved the peace of the place and the stunning views from the large garden. Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.
The owners were really responsive to our only concern which was that something outside of anyone's control reduced the Internet capabilities and they did everything they could, so quickly, to rectify this for us. Amazing walks nearby and the most beautiful scenery. Plus the lovely Clovelly is 5 minutes drive.
Comfortable, spotlessly clean cottage in perfect location
We had an amazing stay at the Byre! The location was perfect for a walking holiday, there were so many great sections of coastal path to choose between! Plus several good pubs and quaint villages all nearby too. The cottage itself was well equipped and very comfortable (lovely to have a sea view too!). Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday!
Beautiful surroundings and easy to find .
The property was clean and so well equipped, loved the wood and decor and all the facilities were easy to use .
We will certainly be returning 😊
US family of 7 had a great 4-night stay.
It's a charming, converted barn. Everything is modern, well kept, and clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. The pictures don't do it justice. Seven of us were comfortable there. We all ate comfortably around the large table.
This is part of a non-working farm with multiple units. We arrived after dark and had a little bit of a hard time finding it among the others, but with a flashlight and some wandering, we did and the checkin instructions were clear. The two bathrooms were great, as two people could take showers and get ready at the same time. The gas fireplace was a nice touch after a cold day exploring.
Beautiful surroundings, even though it was rainy most of our time (as expected). The beach is close, but it's not very easy to get there, that we could find. We had plenty of beach visits on our drives, though.
We made several 1-2 hour drives to Tintagel Castle, Pendennis Castle, St. Agnes Head, Dartmoor National Park, and more.
We drove here from Heathrow, which was an easy 2-3 hour drive, but the somewhat narrow country roads (driving on the left!) near the house were sometimes an adventure. After our stay here, we drove back to London, stopping Stonehenge along the way.
We would definitely recommend staying here. It's a wonderful place!
Christmas break 4 adults, 13 yr old, 2 x 4 yr olds and a dog
Photos don’t do this property justice at all. It’s bigger and better laid out than the photos suggest. Very clean and very well stocked kitchen. We came for Christmas and everything we needed to cook and serve was there in the kitchen. Location is amazing and plenty of things to do in the area considering the time of year. Owners were fantastic at responding to our questions and there were some great recommendations for butchers and fish market. Would absolutely come again, thank you
Lovely property in a great location. Suited 6 of us, 4 adults, 1 teen and 1 child. Well fitted out and cozy accommodation. Great back garden for nice weather days.
Spotlessly clean and well equipped with lots of indoor and outdoor space. Hartland is a quiet, rugged, beautiful gem with Cornwall and Devon a hop away.
The Byre is in a beautiful location, with views out to the North Devon coast. It's so peaceful there - no road noise at all. Everything was spotless and tidy on arrival, and inside we found everything we needed and more. There was also a generous welcome gift - thank you!
The owners sent us all the information we needed in a timely manner, and were also responsive to last minute questions on check-in day, and again later in the week.
The rooms were all clean and comfortable, with plenty of pillows etc. The living space is flexible and open plan, so it was easy to chat with our group while cooking, or relaxing on the sofa! The garden is huge and receives sunshine throughout the day. There are garden seats outside, and sun loungers available in the cupboard.
We had a fantastic week staying at The Byre - it's perfectly located for exploring both the North Devon Coast and the North Cornwall Coast. Thanks so much for having us!
We have had the most amazing week, the cottage was beautiful and garden was great for the children.
The cottage is in a great location, not far from the stunning towns and beaches. We definately recommend Clovelly, Hartland Quay, Woolacombe bay.
We will definately be returning in the future and recommending the accomendation to our family and friends 😊
The property was really spacious and well equipped with everything you could need for your stay. We had 4 adults and 2 children in our group and there was plenty of space for all of us plus the beds were very comfy too ! It's in a fantastic location with lots of stunning coastal walks close by. We hadn't realised that the view from the garden would be so lovely and spent many an afternoon/evening there playing games, relaxing and having BBQs. There were 4 reclining garden chairs as well which were perfect to relax in after our walks !
Great property in a great location. We loved it and it had everything we needed
Check in was very straightforward and communication with the owner was flawless. With the lockdown circumstances the owners were kind enough to extend our second payment date to accommodate the uncertainty of whether we would be able to come or not. Very pleased we were able to still stay at the barn.
Barn is fully equipped, in a great location close to plenty of beautiful walks. Barn was cosy and warm which was perfect after getting back from our walks.
Would recommend to anyone and we hope to stay again soon!
Great property , lovely location, plenty to do within a short distance.
The house had everything we needed, with plenty of space for 6 adults. We would recommend this property and definitely stay again.
This was a lovely property for a family of 6. Plenty of space and well equipped. The garden was a wonderful space for playing. Everyone we met was very friendly and we enjoyed seeing the animals especially the donkey and the birds nesting. Ideal location to explore the North Devon and Cornwall coast, which is beautiful. A very enjoyable stay, thank you.
A clean and comfortable home away from home in a great location.
Despite Storm Dennis we had a great weekend with lots to do on the doorstep. The views are lovely even in the strong winds and heavy rain. The barn conversion is stylish and practical for a family, and kept lovely and warm. Everything you might need is available.
The Byre is a first class property that has everything that you could want or need in a holiday home. The property is beautifully maintained and in an excellent location. I would definitely use again and recommend to others. Thank you
A lovely building in a very beautiful location. We were 4 adults, 4 children. All happy. The property has the more stunning coastal and rural view from the generous garden which has lovely flower borders. The only sound in the garden is from the friendly neighbouring donkeys, the cows and swallows nesting on the patio! So much to explore in this area, that we went to several beaches, Tintagel, Boscastle and Clovelly. The house was very well equipped and we didn’t need for anything. The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout. We would definately stay again to explore more of this beautiful area. Thank you!
Thank you for the really warm welcome. Nice flowers and cake. The House was very clean. Everything was perfekt. De have seen many nice towns. We walked on the coastpath and the people were
Always very friendly. Devon is wonderfull and we plan to return to discover South Devon.

My wife and I live in Surrey. We have two grown up children and two border collies and we all love to escape the bustle of city life to the tranquility of North Devon whenever we can.
Why they chose this property
We have holidayed in North Cornwall and North Devon since 1987 when our children were toddlers and it has always been our dream to own a little part of this wonderful coastline. in 2004 we saw an advert from an estate agent of a derelict Victorian barn that was to be developed. We were lucky enough to be in from the start and were able to change the plans to suit our requirements although we had to allow for the Grade II listing. I use a wheelchair so we were able to ensure level access to the ground floor and garden.
What makes this property unique
We love that we are one mile from the A39 with it's easy access to North Cornwall and North Devon, yet we are off the road in a peaceful, rural location with outstanding coastal views that many would drive miles to see.
