Chapelmarsh circa 1836, formerly a chapel, and sympathetically newly refurbished to a boutique high-end deluxe spec by its current owners, former multi-award winning hoteliers. Chapelmarsh is set in an elevated position overlooking the famous (AONB) bird watching nature reserve and the beautifully scenic North Norfolk coast. Peacefully tucked-away yet moments from all the amenities of Salthouse village, fabulous attractions of North Norfolk: Bird-watchers, walkers, boating, beaches, biking, seal-trips, golfing, National Trust, fabulous shopping in Holt and Burhnam Market, and picturesque harbours. This very special place imbued with the owners' trademark attention to detail, has literally everything to offer the discerning guest - so much so they will want to return time and time again. There is a dramatic open-plan main room comprising of kitchen, dining area and lounge, ensuite master bedroom with King bed and second bedroom (sea views) with separate shower-room. A charming entrance courtyard, sun terrace and enclosed garden all afford spectacular sea views.

Excellent Stay

The converted chapel is very warm and comfortable with long distant sea views. Spotless and well stocked as well as a grouse welcome pack from the owners.

Fabulous weekend in a fabulous property

We had a lovely weekend, the house was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The views out to sea are beautiful and after a busy week it was lovely to sit on the verandah with a glass of wine in a sheltered spot breathing in the views.

A perfect winter retreat.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in chapelmarsh. The chapel was warm, clean, cosy and relaxing with everything that we needed and more. The towels and bedding were if very good quality and there were nice little touches everywhere. We liked the open plan aspect looking out of the raised patio towards the sea. The owners have an eye for detail with a good finish. The sofa was very comfortable and it was so quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely little welcome offering of local and quality treats. We really enjoyed our stay and to watch the stormy waves from afar at the kitchen table in the cosy warm chapel was a highlight. hypnotic. Chapelmarsh is a place we would return to as the owners have really taken great care and effort to make it a welcoming and relaxing place to enjoy the north norfolk coast. Thank you.

Quirky place

This is a quirky lovely place, that we really enjoyed staying in. It's so well presented, with everything you could possibly need. It's was warm and cosy and comfortable. The track to the car park needs careful negotiating, but once you've done it it's easier. The location is perfect, and the garden is a bonus, we were visited by Muntjac ,and lots od birds. If you want somewhere different this is well worth a try , we loved it .

Lovely hideaway in a great location

We had a lovely stay, even though the weather was not kind to us. The property is in a great location with a super pub and a shop within easy walking distance and Holt, Wells and Sheringham all just a short drive away. Lovely walk across the marshes to the beach. The host (Robert) fixed a small problem for us very quickly on request. Overall, a super short break away from it all.

Ab fab

Just returned from a relaxing 3 night stay at Chapelmarsh - sadly all good things come to an end, but me, Mum and my sisters very much enjoyed our break. The cottage is indeed fab - amazing view, beautiful wow factor decor, bit quirky, lots of stuff to look at and admire, lovely towels and bed linen, and very comfortable beds, pillows and quilt. Appreciated the welcome pack - including milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine, and that tea towels and cleaning stuff were provided. Loved our morning coffee in the sun trap at the side of the house, and our glass of wine on the terrace under the glass veranda looking out over the marshes to the sea in the evening. The village shop and pub are both really good. Nice walks from the house, and it’s a great base from which to explore the area. Approach is up a very narrow lane - be careful.

Peaceful Seaside retreat!

We had a wonderful stay, the cottages location is in the perfect peaceful location. Walking distance to the pub and the local shop. You have a beautiful view of the beach from the garden. We loved the cottage décor and it was made even more special with the Hamper of goodies left for us. I would not hesitate to come back and stay again. Our stay was very special and I cannot wait to return. Thank you very much. We had a lovely time and your place is beautiful.

Salthouse shoutout!

A truly amazing place to stay. Well appointed in every way, very interesting decor, great location and an incredible view across the marshes to the sea! Comfortable, comforting, a true joy. Communication with the owner was just great, a truly fabulous host, kind, considerate and friendly. The wildlife around Salthouse is quite stunning, and the walk to the beach is easy yet fascinating. The Dun Cow and the village shop offer more than one would ever imagine. This, in our humble opinion, is the place to stay!

Lovely short break

Stayed at Chapelmarsh from 15th-19th March. Property is as listed. Beautiful location, looking over salt marshes and sea. Nothing nicer than sitting out on patio with a cup of tea enjoying the view. Plenty of wildlife around in garden and salt marshes. We even heard 2 owls at night. Beds, bedding and quilts were lovely so slept well. Bungalow cosy and warm and we had a very restful holiday. Most towns/villages a short distance drive. Local pub and shop 5 minutes walk away. Thank you Robert and Michael for the welcome pack which we enjoyed.

Absolutely Stunning

What a little gem! Myself, my husband and my elderly parents booked this as it had been quite some time since we had visited North Norfolk. We were all looking forward to staying at Chapelmarsh and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the pub and the local shop. Views across the marshes was an absolute joy and we all spent many hours outside on the veranda enjoying the views. An added bonus was that it was covered so meant that even when the weather eventually turned, we could still snuggle up and relax outside. The property is quirky in decor but we all thought it was fabulous. Chapelmarsh has all the ameneties that we needed, including dishwasher, coffee machine, hairdryer. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would highly recomend staying here and we all left with a little bit of love in our hearts for Chapelmarsh and would love to visit again. I certainly recharged my batteries and if a relaxing holiday is what you need the, stay here!

Homely and welcoming

Our second stay in Chapelmarsh, as good as our first in the village of Salthouse which we know well and always delivers. Homely and delivers a warm hug to guests with views which will be remembered in our hearts until we can return. Thank you.

Former international fashion designer, and multi-awarded winning hotelier. Currently I run three highly successful holiday cottages with my partner on the North Norfolk coast. Author of bestseller: 'Samphire Coast' and Norfolk-set 'The Cedar Cage' (noir-fiction - psychological mystery thriller).

Why they chose this property

Great period building in a stunningly picturesque location overlooking the famous bird watching nature reserve to the sea.

Peacefully located yet a short 5-minute stroll to the beach and all the amenities of Salthouse Village. Nearby are all the fabulous attractions that North Norfolk has to offer.

This locale is famed for it's hauntingly scenic, wild beauty, it's no wonder artists, writers, and filmmakers flock to this part of the North Norfolk coast.

What makes this property unique

Chapelmarsh contains a wealth of period features, including an original stained-glass panel, which we restored during our renovation in 2012. We offer a truly high-spec accommodation with all the modern amenities necessary for a luxurious, wonderful stay, moreover the sea-views from the cottage are absolutely breathtaking!

Many of my interiors have featured in magazines, and combined with our experience of running a former multi-award winning boutique establishment dubbed the 'Best B&B in England' over a number of years, so we know what will appeal to the discerning visitor. Attention to detail is paramount! Something really special that makes our holiday cottages stand out from the rest, and a place where you will want to return time and time again!
