Wrong area for us.

We were disappointed with the location and should have researched better. It meant a lot of travelling for where we wanted to visit. It was strange that the access to the property was down a single narrow track when there appeared to be an easier access from the road ? A very unpleasant smell developed in the en suite bathroom, such that we had to stop using it after two days. The ensuite is also in need of shelving as there is nowhere to put toiletries.

Family getaway

Ideal for a birthday celebration with our elderly mother. Wet room and level access provided appropriate accommodation required. Very quiet area made for a relaxing week. House facilities were excellent and as described in booking information. A well organised resources folder was available which made organising visits, eating etc easy to manage. All the contents of the property were to a good standard.

Family week away

Had a lovely week in the property, which was perfect with our elderly mother as it was all on one level. Very clean and comfortable. Emma was the perfect host and was on hand for suggestions of where to visit. Would definitely recommend for a very peaceful scenic break.

A week in north Wales

Clear directions but an Ordinance Survey map greatly assisted find the cottage. A warm welcome from very helpful hosts. Wheelchair access was good despite it not being designed with users in mind. We would stay again in the future.

Perfect place for a getaway

This converted barn has been lovingly restored and kitted out and had everything we could have wanted including dishwasher and washer-dryer. Plenty of plugs in all the right places and a proper hairdryer too. It really is home from home and Emma, the host, has thought of everything to make her guests comfortable. We had a wonderful week and really hope we will have the opportunity to stay again next year.

Hendre Barns is a very spacious and well designed barn conversion. Well equipped for a self catering holiday. It is run by Emma a very enthusiastic and friendly person who is very easy to interact with. I would thoroughly recommend this property if you are stating on the Llyn penninsular. Delfryn… our North Wales experience

The property was immaculate. All beds were really comfortable, bedding and towels provided were high quality. The wooden floor in living and dining area was truly appreciated by our young grandsons, who had a great time playing with their cars. We were very comfortable… good to have the decking area, although the weather meant we couldn’t make as much use of it as we would have liked… We hadn’t paid enough attention to the fact that our accommodation was situated on a working farm… being surrounded by sheep really restricted our dog walks… these had to be ‘on-lead’ which was not appreciated by our year old Welsh Collie… the house would benefit from the addition of an enclosed (grassy) garden space… the boys would have loved to have been able to play out with their football, and it would have been great to be able to let the dog out in a private ‘safe’ space… this may be a planned future development, as surrounding space would certainly allow for this. The property is well appointed and is close to all local towns and villages…. we very much enjoyed our visit …it was our first time visiting North Wales. We will definitely come back. We would opt for a location by the beach on our next visit… with a ‘safe’ garden space and closer to local amenities. Our host was friendly and welcoming…. we didn’t see her regularly during our visit, although we were told that if we needed anything or had any difficulties, we could knock on her door.

Beautiful cottage

We have just stayed last week with our friends at this cottage. Cottage is like home from home and was spotlessly clean. Emma has thought of everything to make holiday stress free and was very friendly. Accommodation was very comfortable and view from cottage is spectacular. However, location is a bit remote and at least a 10 minute drive to any large village. Also, very difficult to get reservations at local restaurants. Cottage is ideal if you are looking a quiet remote location in a fantastic property.

Great stay on the Llyn Peninsula

Really nice converted barn on a farm near Nefyn. Spotlessly clean, good range of utensils, crockery etc, Smart TV, Tassimo coffee machine. Great communication from Emma pre check-in with a helpful information booklet about the property and the local area. 10 min drive to local pub and Nefyn, 15 mins to Ty Coch Inn, 20 mins to Llanbedrog.

Fabulous!

The property is perfect - the setting, the quality, the hosts, and the area. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good base to explore North Wales but wanting to come back in the evening to a gorgeous peaceful rural setting and a comfortable home with every (and I do mean every!) home convenience.

Absolute comfort with all needs met

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in this delightful barn conversion. Emma was most warm and welcoming and immediately made us feel settled and happy. Please note the photos do not do this justice as the accommodation is so much larger than shown. It was perfect for four of us one of which was my 91 year old Mother. Everyday was spent exploring the area with so much to see within the close proximity! We would love to return. ............the lemon cake is wonderful !!!!! Thank you Emma for everything.

About the host

Hosted by Emma Soskin

Host profile image
We are Emma and Andrew Soskin. We met in Hertfordshire, but both had links to Wales, with Emma having lived on Anglesey for several years as a child and Andrew having a degree from Aberystwyth University. We moved here in 2008, with the aim of starting a bed and breakfast and self-catering business. After offering B&B for over 10 years it was time for a change. In 2021 we converted the B&B rooms into our new second self-catering cottage, Penprys Bach at Hendre Barns, to run alongside our existing cottage Delfryn at Hendre Barns. We have over 30 years in the hospitality industry between us, mostly working in a five star hotel, and have used our experience to ensure that our conversions are of the highest quality.

Why they chose this property

We think the Llyn Peninsula has more to offer than anywhere else in Wales. Hendre Barns is situated centrally on the Llyn, so everywhere is in easy access. With miles of beaches, coastal footpaths and attractive villages, there is plenty to explore. We are also within easy reach of Snowdonia, Portmerion and the castles and steam railways elsewhere in north Wales. We hope that you will enjoy the area as much as us.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the property when we saw the view across to Yr Eifl, with Snowdonia beyond. Delfryn's open plan living and accessible design makes it perfect for holidays with friends and family of all ages, with the feature wood-burning stove making nights in especially cosy.
