Fabulous property overlooking the river at Fowey. Well equipped house, beautifully clean and welcoming. No hesitation in staying at this property again.
Beautifully presented house, very clean, very well equipped, it was lovely sitting outside the front of the house with the river view. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend. Parking was no trouble, car park a very short walk.
This was our third stay at Out of the Blue and we had another wonderful experience. We love feeling so at home in this comfortable and clean cottage with incredible views of the river. Easy walk into town, and Caffa Mill car park is close by. Fowey is a fantastic place, very welcoming and lots of fun. Many thanks Debbie and Chris for all your help, wonderful hosts
Super little house in Fowey - clean, bright, well situated for amenities and with a terrific view of the estuary. We had a brilliant stay and would definitely return.
This is a beautiful cottage with all the comforts and conveniences of home. The view over the estuary is stunning! The location is great, and parking is very close by. We had such a lovely stay and really enjoyed exploring Fowey and the surrounding area. The owner is very lovely and helpful, and they have really thought about how they can make your stay even better than you expect.
We enjoyed our stay in June 2023 a lot. The accomodation was beautiful as described and Fowey turned out to be the most beautiful place in Cornwall compared to other villages we saw. I can highly recommend a stay.
We stayed there for almost two weeks & really very much enjoyed the house, the town and the friendly warm and welcoming atmosphere in and around Fowey.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay and it was truly memorable. The property was very clean and bright, with everything you'd need, the information provided by Debbie and Chris was comprehensive, including places to eat and see. The Caffa Mill car park was nearby (£6.95 per 24hrs), we came in this way to avoid the narrow streets from the other direction as it was quite busy, and is a short walk to the property. We really enjoyed our stay and would really recommend this property, and would love to come back again in the future.
"Out of the Blue" was quite stunning --- *very* well equipped and comfortable, and an amazing view out of the front windows. Hosts are very helpful and friendly. Hoping we'll be able to go back as we really loved it. Thoroughly recommended.
Beautifully decorated house , very well equipped, and lovely layout. The views are incredible due to its elevated location . Bedrooms were of good size with plenty of cupboard space. If you prefer a queter stay, choose the bsck room as the ferry starts at 6.30am .. Lovely to see though . Short walk into town so very easy for supplies, restaurants and bars. Thank you Debbie for making this stay so smooth .
Fowey is a wonderful little Cornish village and well worth a visit. House location was great - short walk into village, nice views over river. House was homely with everything we needed to make our visit enjoyable. We had no problems with parking at the public car park which is about 2 min walk from house.
This is a sweet spot overlooking the river, a short walk from the centre of Fowey. Everything was comfortable, clean and in order and the host was helpful. Fowey is a super base from which to explore Cornwall or just hang out - the eating out options are great and there’s lots to explore. Would highly recommend.
Property is situated in the perfect spot. Easy access to car park when going to beaches and you are in town any way so coffee in hand within 3 minutes walk into town. The flight of stairs didn’t bother us with a 9 month and a toddler. Beautiful views of the water. The property was very clean and tidy we absolutely loved our stay we will definitely be back again. Best staycation we’ve had to date with the weather being absolutely stunning too.
This was our second time at Out of the Blue and we had another wonderful stay. Fantastic location just a short walk from the centre of Fowey with outstanding views of the river, we loved watching the Boddinick Ferry and river traffic. Clean, comfortable and brilliantly equipped cottage - a real home from home. We enjoyed playing the board games! Thanks so much Debbie & Chris for all your help and support, such thoughtful hosts. We look forward to returning again!
Thank you Chris and Debbie for sharing your lovely home with us, the view of the Fowey River from the lounge creates a very peaceful setting. The house is very well situated to walk into the little village for dinner in the evenings or just to go exploring.
Just wonderful sitting out on the balcony watching the sunset, however it would be great if the outdoor furniture could be cleaned as the pigeons had obviously enjoyed watching the sunsets before us!
Thank you again for a lovely stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at ‘Out of the Blue’. The house, accessed via steep stone steps, was perfectly located to watch the comings and goings on the river. The accommodation was bright and airy and very clean. Everything we needed was to hand. We stayed 4 nights and left our car in the main carpark which was very reasonably priced at £15 for the whole of our stay. Spaces are competitive so be aware you may not be able to park when you return after a day trip.
Everyone in the town was very friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of eateries to suit all tastes and budgets but of course a Cornish Pasty is a must and there are plenty to buy. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you very much.
The house has a view of the River Fowey from the living room and the MBR! The house is beautifully furnished and decorated with COMFORTABLE couches and beds. We slept like babies here! It is at the end of the little town of Fowey near the car park ( very convenient if you have a car). Being in Fowey is like going back in time.. it is beautiful, with only one tiny one way street. No car noises!
Wonderful restaurants, shops, grocery stores nearby for cooking at the house in the lovely kitchen. Great hiking amongst the wildflowers: like in a dream. Ferry rides to the villages across the way, which was great fun.
We couldn't have been more entranced with our stay here! The house was perfect as was the town of Fowey!
We were delighted with Out of the Blue- it was exactly as I thought it would be! Perfect for the two of us to explore Fowey and it’s surroundings. The house was clean, spacious and had all the facilities needed (we ate out for the duration but could see it was well kitted out!) The milk was handy. It felt off the beaten track, but close enough to the twin for a short walk and the car park was an easy walk and reasonable- £6.10 for 24 hrs. The little car ferry going back and forth is a bit noisy but you get used to it and it’s fascinating watching all the river goings on from the balcony, Would recommend.
We changed place after one night, because of constant noise from a car ferry crossing every ten minutes from 7.00am to 21.00pm for 7 days a week right in front of the location. Such an expensive stay shouldn't offer disturbing noise when you are on holiday. Very dreadful experience because we had to search for another cottage and pay twice.

Disliked: Amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
I liked that it was clean. I did not like the long, steep staircase that was the only way up to the house. Carrying our luggage up was quite difficult and my husband actually fell. We would not have booked this had we known. The bathroom was on the ground floor which was a big inconvenience. Most annoying was the requirement to remove all garbage from the house upon leaving. Garbage collection had been four days before we left. We had to sneak around the town looking for places to put the garbage. Also, we had the pass code for the wifi but did not know which one to connect to. We finally found the small tag that had this vital information behind the tv. The tv remote had a dead battery and we were left with exactly one toilet roll upon arrival despite what it said in the descriptor. This property was not what was described or rather omitted its shortcomings.
As a family of 4, with 2 grown up daughters, we have been visiting and holidaying in Fowey for years and have at last taken the plunge and bought our own property. Hopefully, staying in our cottage will make you fall in love with Fowey too!
What makes this property unique
Out of the Blue has amazing river views. The ever changing view from the window never ceases to amaze us and guests. From people fishing and crabbing from the slipway, gig racing, boating and mini car ferry activity to the Pilot boat, Tug and large ships sailing by - there is always something to see.
