Amazing Rustic Farmhouse With Nearby Skiing, Hiking and more...

The Lazy Labrador is a unique Samoens rental property - complete with outdoor 'mazot' cabin, this charming 18 Century farmhouse has recently been renovated, while retaining all the rustic beauty of a traditional savoyard farmhouse. The living space features a Norwegian 'Jotul' stove and is a snug spot for board games. Choose records from the vast music collection and enjoy atmospheric evenings with friends and family. The kitchen retains a beautiful original stone floor and is equipped with modern cooking equipment - the perfect setting for a post-ski fondue or tartiflette.

This comfortable home provides accommodation for 6 - 9 guests in 4 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. There are 4 entirely unique bedrooms, including a master ensuite with adjoining wet room, its walls lined in Travertine stone. Charmante ferme ancienne

A very special place

Peaceful setting high above Samoens. A characterful barn conversion which was very comfortable and obviously has given people much pleasure over the years. We loved it for the calm and access to mountain walks.

Quaint and Cozy

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The property is pretty rustic, but it is well done and lovely. The kitchen is a bit quirky but has everything you need once you find it! Beds are very comfortable and the living room is a great place to hang out after a day of skiing. A four-wheel drive vehicle is a MUST as the roads to the chalet are steep and narrow. Gorgeous views - especially of the stars at night.

Nice accommodation with inadequateness in detail

The chalet is typical for the region and located at a really silent place. Unfortunately there is a big discrepancy between the photos and the reality as due to the panorama lens the rooms look wide and light. In fact only the living room is as large as the photos pretend. The sleeping rooms are all really small and gloomy. One problem was the quality of the mattresses: Something between disappointing and inconvenient, in any case much too hard, especially in the double room for the adults. So my wife and me left Samoëns with dorsal pain. There are nearly no wardrobes in the sleeping rooms to hang up clothes although you have a lot if you go skiing with a family of five. The biggest disappointment was the level of cleanness which definitely was not acceptable. We found many surfaces dirty and dusty as well as small spider webs in corners allover the accommodation. A lot of items of the kitchen had to be washed before first use, especially all pots and frying pans but also most parts of the cutlery and glasses. All in all it is a pity that the maintenance of the property is so careless. But the music collection is just about the limit!

Just waking up and walking out the door with your snowshoes on and enjouy the most incredible view , it is priceless!!! Thanks to Sebastian for taking care of us . It just feel like coming back home every year. We will come back !! See you next year

Fantastic place, charming, cosy and full of character, in lovely rural setting up in the mountains

We had an absolutely lovely stay at Lazy Labrador, loved the great, rustic yet extremely charming kitchen, where we prepared and enjoyed many meals with a big group; the sitting room, with a roaring log burner seeing many games played, accompanied by music from THE most amazing record collection; and then really cozy bedrooms (with very comfortable beds) and two modern bathrooms. Our two daughters loved staying in the small annex across the road, another great place full of character. The location is a short 10 min drive up from Samoens, and if there is snow I would not want to do it without either snow chains or 4x4 with snow tyres. The place lies in a high valley with beautiful mountain views, and we loved walking in the snow, enjoying the views. The place easily copes with 7 people, of which 3 couples, but if you want to be 9 at least two of them need to be children (one of them in the anteroom of a double bedroom). Overall a really wonderful place!

Wrapped in coziness...

We rested a company of 9 people, 6 adults and 3 children, places are all more than enough, everything is organized perfectly, many small things that are useful in everyday life and or pleases the eye. Particularly pleased with high-quality music, cooking utensils, sleeping rooms. All at the highest level, from start to finish! I recommend to everyone as Lazy Labrador as Mountain People. Away from all the fuss but not too far away!

This was our fourth visit (I think) and the fact that we keep returning speaks for itself. For us it is important to be able to take our dogs and/or children and grandchildren into an environment that suits all. Lazy Labrador gives us that, good walking literally on the doorstep, skiing and Samoens itself a short car ride away, with comfort to return to. The chalet is clean and has everything we need in abundance.

Christmas at the Lazy Labrador

The lazy labrador is the perfect house to spent the holidays, the atmosphere welcomes you right from the start. It's a real comfortable place to stay with a well equiped and characteristic kitchen. The surrounding is beautiful, quiet with breathtaking views! The only improvement we would suggest is to create more wardrobe in the bedrooms We appreciated the positive contact with Sebastian, there was always a friendly en quick reply to our mails and questions. Andy and Eva, the keyholders were real friendly and helpful to. We had a lovely time!

Idyllic Mountain Retreat

A wonderfully rustic, remote and comfortable farmhouse, which we enjoyed hugely. The rooms, facilities and decor are all excellent; however the high point is the location with wonderful views and options to walk from the farmhouse into the surrounding hills. The kitchen was well-equipped; the bedrooms of a good size and the showers excellent. The sound system mixes new with old, with good wi-fi for streaming music and a record collection aimed at the average 55-year old male. Samoens was quiet during our visit, but there's a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants. Walks/hikes nearby are brilliant. Overall a memorable stay in a wonderful place.

Charming, perfectly located chalet

We loved our week at Lazy Labrador. The location is excellent - tranquil, with stunning views over to the other side of the valley, and yet close to Samoens. And close to lovely places to explore - local walks up the valley from the chalet itself, Samoens itself (go to Tiffanys baker, and the pizza restaurant), Sixt Fer a Chevalier, Lake Geneva, Sommand valley, Samoens 1800 (for some stunning views up and down the valley) and Morzine. And of course easy access to the challenge of the excellent Col de Joux Plane cycling climb. The cafe at the top of Joux Plane serves delicious and simple mountain food, and there are some beautiful walks at the top too. The chalet itself is charming - well equipped but full of rustic character. We enjoyed the extensive vinyl collection and library of climbing books. And the local key holder Jasper was always helpful and gave us some good pointers for places to visit. An idyllic holiday with many happy memories.

Lazy Labador

We had a fantastic holiday, walking with our dogs (labradors!), skiing, making snowmen and generally relaxing in the house. It is an easy house to settle into....the temptation being to just stay in which would be a shame in the locality. The immediate surroundings are beautiful; no need to get into the car to go for a walk. To ski you need a car but then you have a choice of resorts which are within an easy travel and can be selected according to weather. Both the manager and the local representative are very helpful without being at all intrusive. This was our second visit and will probably not be the last.

a unique and special place to stay

We spent a marvelous time in Lazy Labrador, a renovated barn in a quiet hamlet. All the rooms were perfectly done and it was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen. We loved the view and the quietude we had. We loved having hiking trails starting right by the house. Sebastian made us feel very very welcome and gave us a lot of helpful information and tips. It was also a pleasure to meet Jasper, the caretaker, who is available any time.

Why they chose this property

Situated in a small hamlet in the heart of the French Alps, the house provides us with just enough seclusion from the town, but is also close enough that we can visit restaurants and bars if we so desire. The house itself is charming and retains many original features. Our recent renovations were a joy to carry out as we kept much of the rusticity of the property, while adding many creature comforts that make for a truly relaxing stay.

What makes this property unique

From the porch, we enjoy glorious views looking out onto the Criou mountain, which regularly turns orange and pink as the sun sets on it. The house offers absolute peace and quiet but is also close enough to the town and ski lift to make it a calm and convenient spot to enjoy all of the winter and summer activities on offer in the area. As relaxing as it is adventurous, most of our guests (us included) find it very hard to leave at the end of our stays. Large enough for families and groups of friends, it unfailingly proves to be the perfect base for those with a love for the outdoors, with its captivating views, sounds of trickling streams and the perfect amount of comfort for a peaceful stay.
