Perfect home from home
Captains House was exactly what we needed. Big enough for family members to have their own space to relax in while still being a family home. The location was ideal for easy access to the town and waterfront but also to feel a bit more ‘local’ and be able to go to neighbourhood pubs, jog routes off the main thoroughfare and not be overwhelmed with noise and people.

Great but ....
Very nice house, spacious rooms and very convenient location. Very disappointing fridge/freezer - it is old, badly in need of a defrost and inadequate for the size of the house. The dishwasher wasn't properly fitted and could easily tilt forward with any weight on the open door. The shower hose leaks badly and needs replacing. Also, only 2 dishwasher tablets left and no black plastic bags left, even though there is a request to place bed linen and towels in black bags. For a £300 service charge that's poor. Other than those things it's a comfortable and convenient house for a holiday. We'd stay again if the faults were fixed.

Captain's House is a striking property which offers spacious accommodation for 8 people. It is very comfortable and in a great location. We would definitely recommend it for large groups who are looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful part of the country.

Fabulous find!
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. A stones throw from the centre of Falmouth full of lovely shops, pubs and restaurants and within easy reach of the lovely local beaches and harbour excursions. All within walking distance. As a family of eight we were incredibly comfortable in the well equipped and spacious home. A really super find, we will definitely return!!

This is a beautiful house in a fantastic location. The property was immaculate, very spacious and has great views. Having a parking space is a real bonus. This was our first visit to Falmouth and we loved it. We would certainly recommend this home to others.

Family stay in the Captain’s House
The property is a wonderful place to stay for a family. The location is great as everything is nearby & the views to die for. Wonderful period decor that fits with the age of the property. The weather was good, not as hot as in the rest of the UK, and being able to park 3 cars was an added bonus in an area of Falmouth where parking is limited. Highly recommend the house as a base for a holiday in the wonderful county of Cornwall. This comes from someone who was born in Falmouth and visits a couple of times each year.

We had a splendid time in a lovely atmospheric house.
We, that is a family of 3 generations, had chosen Captain‘s House to spend a fortnight of holidays there. We were quite overwhelmed by the beautiful house, which was so full of character, tastefully furnished and well equipped. Apart from the spacious bedrooms, a large kitchen, a dining room, a sitting room and a TV room there was a very light conservatory and a large patio which was spread over three levels and which offers lots of opportunities to have barbecues or to relax. The location is on a hill offering delightful views across the estuary and the harbour from two of the bedrooms. The town centre with all its shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities is very close and can be reached in a 5 minutes walk down the hill. Coming back could be a little strenuous for elderly people, who would probably have to take it a bit slowly. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would love to return.

Captains house Falmouth
Captains house was exactly what we required- large, four bedrooms and three downstairs plus a large kitchen, and well equipped with linen and all other necessities. Falmouth has plenty of shops, bars and eating places and there is plenty to see and do both in Falmouth and surrounding area.

Lovely spacious house in vibrant Falmouth
I stayed at The Captain's House with my family in July 2016. The house is ideal for a group of different ages as there is lots of space to spread out and enjoy all the rooms. The house is well maintained and very comfortable. The kitchen is large and fully equipped and the bedrooms are spacious with the front ones having great views over the harbour. There are many lovely restaurants and bars in Falmouth and most are within walking distance of the house. I would recommend The Captain's House for a holiday with children/grandparents/friends as it is suitable for all ages. Hope to return someday.

Delightful, substantial house
Three days force 9 gusting gales not the best for a holiday but our cosy days in Captains House made up for everything. Delightfully appointed and more important, comfortable beds. Falmouth is a good centre with the maritime museum on bed days and estuary and lovely gardens on good days - we did have one.

Gorgeous Captain's House
The Captain's House is beautifully presented and in a wonderful location. The views of the harbour from the front bedrooms are stunning. Nothing in Falmouth is too far to walk to - and the fabled Cornish hills get easier to manage day by day! We stayed for a fortnight and there were still restaurants we didn't manage to visit. Some particular ones we enjoyed are The Quayside Inn, Fuel, The Ranch and Seaview. You will love it!

Perfect in all ways
We stayed at Captains House in Falmouth for the Tall Ships Regatta at the end of August. It was perfect in so many ways not only its proximity to all the events that were going on but the house itself was gorgeous. We had our teenage children with us and due to its location it was perfect for them to stroll back and forth to town. There was so much going on that they were kept busy for the whole time. The 4 comfortable bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the beds had lovely "cotton" sheets. The lovely terrace garden was perfect for a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Amazingly considering how close we were to all the action it was incredibly quite. Having a garage was an extra bonus, meaning we didn't need to worry about parking. There was a reported 100,000 people in Falmouth on the Sunday! Once we were in Falmouth we didn't need to use the car everything was accessible by foot or boat. I would highly recommend this property to anyone from families with young children or teenaged, to visitors without children wanting a larger spacious house. Falmouth is a great place and seems to have a lot going for it. We ate out a couple of times. We particularly like "The Harbour View Cafe" which was just down the hill and did reasonably priced food. There was also a great juice bar called "Elixir" which was run by a lovely American lady. Another must was gin cocktails at "Dolly's Tea Shop". We also got a bit of retail therapy in. As you might tell I have fallen a bit in love with the place, hope to go back in December!

Fabulous Time
We spent 2 weeks in Falmouth at The Captain's House and had an absolutely fabulous time! The house was perfect for us, (including 3 kids & grandmother) the pictures on website don't do it justice, it is really beautiful. It was appropriately furnished, had nice bed linens and felt high-end. Gorgeous views of harbor from front 2 bedrooms. We arrived to fresh flowers, Cornish tea and scones, it was very welcoming. You can tell the owners have thought about small details and their guests. The location is very convenient. It was great to have a garage for the car, but we could walk to waterfront, to town and shops, ferries and even to the beach. My kids loved the freedom to walk around without us and were always up for a run down to Tesco. Just an ideal location! We will definitely return on our next trip to England.

The Captains House is a delightful holiday home for a family or group of friends. It is only 10 mins walk from Falmouth Town station or shops, and has a garage and plenty of parking space. It is a beautifully finished & furnished house with lots of space. The beds were very comfortable and two of the bedrooms at the front of the house have fabulous panoramic views of the harbour & Pendennis castle. The Terraced garden is a real sun trap and well set out with garden furniture for eating outdoors or relaxing. There is plenty to do in the area for all age groups. I would love to live in a house like this with lovely big rooms - it is a wonderful summer holiday home but would also be a great family Christmas or New Year venue!

Very relaxing
I went to Falmouth for a weekend with friends not sure what to expect. Both the Captains House and Falmouth exceeded my expectations. The house is very well equipped and furnished to a high standard and it feels as though the owners have put a lot of love into the property. We had gorgeous weather so could sit in the well appointed garden before supper as well as enjoy a ferry trip across to St Mawes and a super walk along the coast during the day. The view from the house is really good as there is so much to look at and I always like to see the sea!! We enjoyed going to Dolly's for cocktails and mooching around the shops in both St Mawes and Falmouth. We packed in as much as one can in a weekend and would definitely recommend the house for a visit! Hope to go back soon.

Fantastic Falmouth Home
We stayed in the wonderful Captain's House for a weekend in May and it was just fantastic. It was my first time to visit Falmouth and this house was just the perfect location for us. The house is amazing - wonderful period features, spacious rooms and yet really homely. It had all the facilities that I would expect and more besides; the attention to detail puts it above other properties we've stayed in. I could have happily stayed there forever - but the amazing views from the house and the really useful local information that's provided in the welcome pack, lured me outside to explore Falmouth, which is just a stroll downhill away. It really was a magical weekend and we'll definitely return to the Captain's House.

The Magnificent Captain's House, Falmouth
We arrived in Falmouth late Friday evening and were delighted that the house was ready and inviting. The Captain's House has all the mod-cons yet has all the traditional features giving us the impression that we were in a "homely" stately home. The house has a magnificent view of the harbour and has excellent parking facilities, located only minutes away from the centre of Falmouth town with its lovely selection of unique and eclectic shops. We were holidaying with our two teenage sons (aged 16 and 13) who loved it. We took the ferry across the River Fal to St Mawes. We walked along the coast and saw packs of seals basking in the sun and a kestrel wind-hovering. There are plenty of sandy beaches within minutes walk, ideal for surfers. We breakfasted at Fuel, had fish and chips and local ales at The Front Pub, and had gin teapots at Dolly's Tea House. The Maritime Museum is a MUST (we visited it twice). This was certainly one of our most favourite holidays and we have already recommended it to our friends and family! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

A beautiful house in an ideal location
We stayed at The Captain's House for the New Year week with a couple of friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable with a warm decor which made us feel at home instantly. It was clean and had everything we needed (including a dishwasher!). We enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen and had lots of fun nights around the dining room table. It was a short 5 mins walk into the centre of Falmouth where we found all the shops we needed including the best fish and chip shop we've ever been too (it was above a pub). Overall a brilliant stay which we would highly recommend.

The Captain's House is owned by Mark and Carol. It is their home which they wish to share with holidaymakers wanting to enjoy the delights of Falmouth and its harbour, beaches and coastal walks.

We set the Captain's House up as a holiday home in 2014.

Why they chose this property

We love The Captain's House for its fabulous views of the harbour, quiet location and close proximity to town, ferries and walks.
We really enjoy Falmouth for the stunning coastal walks and the town as there is always so much going on. We love going to the beaches in all seasons, and many of them are walking distance.

What makes this property unique

We love relaxing in the house and then wandering down to Falmouth to enjoy the coastal walks, pubs, restaurants, shops, sailing, harbour cruises and the fascinating Maritime museum.

The house is beautifully preserved with lovely period features. It has plenty of space to relax with family and friends. In spring and summer we enjoy the light, the garden and the views and in the winter its the warm fires.
We have also furnished it with antiques and family heirlooms that complement the property.

Falmouth is an event lead town with fun activities and entertainment throughout the year. It is all easily accessible from the house. Yet when you're at home it is so peaceful and quiet.
