Much Loved Four Bedroom, Three Bathroom Family House
Barricane House, formerly Barricane Inn, was built by my great, great grandfather Samuel Conibear in 1860. It has remained in the family ever since and is now a much loved and revisited holiday home comprising 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, boot room and two attic 'play' rooms. It is also used by us for more than 10 weeks a year and so it has many home comforts not usually found in a rental property.

Communication was great throughout the booking process and stay. House was immaculate and well stocked with necessary essentials.
Although we had an issue with the hot water and heating, this was dealt with promptly and without too much disruption, enabling us to enjoy our holiday in a beautiful location.
The village was ideal for getting to the beach in Woolacombe quickly, with excellent facilities, take away and fish and chips.
Would definitely recommend and would book again.
2nd year staying at 1 Barricane House for a lovely family holiday which included Grand parents, parents and 2 very young grandsons. A very well equipped property in an ideal location. Just booked for 2020. Say no more
We had a week in this large and interesting property. All was beautifully prepared for us and so comfortable. We were so lucky with the weather and used the front garden, a real suntrap, all the time. The house is right in the centre of Mortehoe with several places to get hot food really nearby. Would love to stay there again.
We loved it!
Lots of games to play on rainy days and the house was very clean and tidy and spacious.
Loads of cooking utensils and equipment.
It was a shame when we visited that most of the takeaways and pubs in the village were shut but we made the most and Woolacombe is a very short drive away.
The property was larger and lighter than expected and handled six adults well. The extra play and rest room is a bonus. The 3 kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped. The position of the property in the village was special.
We had a lovely stay at Barricane House the property is great for families having the playroom upstairs is an added bonus. Location in the centre of the village is ideal. This is an old property with some quirky features.
We had a lovely few days at this property. It was very clean, everything supplied as advertised and a lovely space for a large group.
The host was very good and phoned to make sure all was okay. It was well positioned in a lovely village with plenty of places to eat/ takeaway. We had a lovely meal at Miss Fea's cafe virtually next door.
We would definitely recommend it to stay again.
Great property with everything you need for a fantastic holiday.
We had a lovely holiday, the house is perfect for a large family. Being on the cliff top you have to be prepared for the hills or drive down to Woolacombe. Very convenient with two shops, two pubs and two takeaways on your doorstep.
Chartacterful and thoughtfully equipped comfy beds and good bathrooms

Wonderful house in a lovely village
The house is spacious and very well equipped. Especially the bedrooms and the attic are cozy. We went for walks along the astonishing coast and enjoyed the afternoons at the beach in nearby Woolacombe. Our holidays were absolutely perfect. Thanks a lot to Maggie and David!

We really enjoyed staying in Barricane House. There was plenty room for everyone. The owners of the house are kind and concerned.
We thought it was really great that there was a large inventory, for example in the number of cutlery and pans. Never the hassle that the number of visitors has been calculated exactly

Perfect in every way.
We absolutely loved Barricane House. It was comfortable and well equipped, and had the most powerful showers I have ever experienced in a holiday rental. Our one minor query when we were there received a very quick response. The location in Morthoe was perfect for us. It was quiet but close to local shops and pubs. We look forward to staying there again.

Barricane House Mortehoe
Unfortunately the weather was awful but the house was warm and spacious. Cars have to go in local car park minutes away very reasonable rate. Lots of space for my grandchildren to run around. The sun did come out and Woolacombe beach is great for everyone. Can recommend Captain’s Table and the Ship Aground, Our 3rd stay hope to be back next year! Splendid!

A lovely very well equipped family holiday home
A very well equipped and lovely holiday home. Excellent bedrooms and bathrooms that coped with the 3 generations of our family. The house is situated in the middle of the small village next to all the things you would want close. A village shop selling fresh pasties and other delights. 2 lovely pubs that both provided food. The location also allowed you to travel other attractions that were also in easy reach.
Yes we hope to go back

Excellent
Highly recommend this accommodation. After holidaying in Woolacoombe for over 40 years, staying in Caravans, lodges, hotels and b+bs this is by far the best. Beautiful house in excellent location. I love the 'give and get' idea it works really well. Mortoe is a lovely village and the walk into Woolcoombe taking in the scenery and stopping off at Barricane Beach is a must. We will definitely book this house again.

Wonderful house in beautiful Mortehoe Village
Lovely, spacious, family house, amazingly well equipped (every time I needed something it was there, from sellotape to kitchen foil to shower gel). The house was spotlessly clean and had all we needed for our holiday, with lots of room for the seven of us. Fantastic after a day on the beach to come back to three showers, and to have a hose in the garden to rinse off wetsuits and a rail to hang them on.
Mortehoe is a very pretty village and this house is right in the middle of it, looking out on the village square and the church. A very well equipped little store is a few doors down, and next to that a great cafe where we enjoyed both a great pizza night and a gin tasting.
I would highly reccomend Mortehoe and this house in particular as a holiday destination, a lovely place to stay in a beautiful area, full of so much to do. There are plenty of lovely walks straight from Mortehoe, the coastlal parth is stunning and you can watch seals around Morte point, you get beautiful sunsets, and you have 3 miles of sandy beach just down the road at Woolacombe (surely Devon's best beach). We also enjoyed cycling the Tarka trail (bikes hired from Biketrail at Fremmington Quay), visiting the lovely Exmoor Zoo, eating at the Red Barn in Woolacombe, getting Shri Lankan curry at Barricane Beach and of course Fish and Chips in Mortehoe (go early to avoid long ques).

Why they chose this property
This is not just a lovely holiday house, because it is used by us out of season and therefore is very well equipped and maintained.
What makes this property unique
Family home in the very centre of this beautiful village, with two play rooms for kids to play in and provide some 'peace' for parents & grandparents.
The house was built by my great great grandfather and we have sympathetically modernised it whilst retaining its original character.
Over 50% of our guests stay again and we think that says a lot about our house.
