Uncomfortable if elderly
We lived in Hassocks/Keymer for 40 years and wanted somewhere agreeable to stay while looking up friends and acquaintances. Although the beds in The Old Post Office, Keymer, were comfortable, this is not suitable accommodation for elderly people like us. The seating soon becomes uncomfortable. Is it too much to expect two easy armchairs and a medium size coffee table when staying for a week? There is ample space. In the bathroom, the toilet works well and so does the shower, if you are careful with the droopy showerhead. But the supply of hot water to the hand basin depends on you finding and switching the immersion heater on. (The thermostat is set to lukewarm.) Yes, energy prices have gone up, but really! It is best not to think of using the bath. A bidet would be a sensible replacement. Kitchen arrangements are adequate, given that both Keymer and Hassocks have many and varied eateries and take-aways, which we used. We cut our stay short and will not stay again.

Always a pleasure
This is our second stay at the Post Office. It is well situated within walking distance to cafes, grocers, chemists, even the train station and bus lines. Perfectly suitable for singles or couples with a small kitchen, comfortable living room (love the window seat), large bedroom and bathroom. Michelle is always very accommodating and communicative. Looking forward to next time!

Lovely time at Christmas
The Old Post Office was the perfect location for our trip to Sussex for Christmas this year. It was quite spacious, clean and comfortable for us and our two pups. Very convenient for visiting the local area… great walks close by too. Michelle is very accommodating and would check on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed! Also, Keymer has local places to grab coffee, eat and shop for your essentials. We had a very enjoyable stay and holiday!

Great location for exploring the South Downs area
Cute little self catering apartment with a superbly comfortable bed to relax in after long walks across the South Downs and surrounding area. Excellent proximity to Hassocks station to visit Brighton with ease and then return to the peace of the countryside.

Lovely stay at the Post Office
Post Office is elegant and just a bit quirky with its old shop layout. On a fairly busy town road but made for an entertaining place to sit in the lovely window seat and watch world go by, and the back bedroom was quiet and comfortable. Didn't get a chance to use the kitchen - instead strolled to JJ's café in Hassock for a fab breakfast and in to Ditchling for a good pub dinner at the White Horse. Michelle was a lovely host - and we really appreciated being able to check in early. (Oh, and the wedding went without a hitch!)

clean and well equipped, very helpful owner
my grandson and myself stayed 3 nights with a friend staying over 1 night. The twin beds and sofa bed were comfortable and the whole property was clean and well equipped. the owners, staff and customers at the Greyhound pub, (opposite the property) were very friendly and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal there. An added bonus for us was the proximity of Hassock train station,an easy 10 minute walk.

Great Stay
It is lovely and in a really convenient location. You have direct walking access into the South Downs National Park from the cottage. Six minutes walk into Hassocks, shops and railway station. Also 10/15 minutes walk across the fields or road to Ditchling and the great Bull Inn. The cottage is quiet and the double bed is huge and very comfortable.

Prettig huisje centraal gelegen in mooi Sussex
We waren dik tevreden.

Individual with contemporary style
We had a lovely time at The Old Post Office; the pictures show exactly what the apartment is like. It is well-kept and clean. The communication with the lessor Michelle was always uncomplicated and friendly. - The pub just vis-à-vis is friendly with good food for reasonable prices. You fiend everything you need nearby so it is a place to recommend to others.

Great base for our Brighton weekend break!
Lovely spacious accommodation, very nicely decorated! Pub over the road was great to spend an evening in and the food was great there too. Travelling into Brighton was very easy by train (15min walk to station and then 8 minutes into brighton for £9 return). Michelle was also great at getting in touch and making sure all was good both before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend and hope we can return again in the future.

Perfect.
The description fitted the property really well. It was clean and well laid out for two people. The owner was really helpful and we were able to use all the facilities without difficulty. Overall the perfect place to us to stay. It is situated with easy access to all the amenities in the area, the wonderful South Downs Way, the pretty town of Ditchling and the easy walk to the station for trains to Brighton. The pub opposite served good food and the local shopping in Hassocks was of a high quality.

Lovely single storey accommodation
The best thing about this building is it is one one level, no stairs. It is a quirky old building, converted from an old post. It consists of a comfortable lounge and window seat., King size bed and spacious bedroom with a bathroom that has a bath and a separate shower. There is a lovely pub right across the road, where you can park your car, as long as you go see them to check, and probably have a drink and a meal or 2 while your there. Very convenient, no worry about driving home. Local shops only 5 minute drive. We had a relaxing 4 days there. Only 1 1/2 hour drive to Dover Castle, which surprised us. Close enough to our friends in Horsham, they loved coming to visit.

Lovely accommodation.
Lovely, clean accommodation and perfect for our 3 night stay. We especially loved the window seat where we could sit and relax after a busy day. Perfectly situated we spent a day in Lewes, Brighton and visited the Zoo Drusillas which was great for little ones. The pub owner opposite let us park in his carpark and we had a drink and food there. Another good pub in walking distance was the Thatched Inn. Overall a nicely situated apartment.

Quaint in an ideal location.
We really had a lovely stay in lovely accommodation. The apartment was beautifully decorated with all the modern facilities you will require. The apartment is set in a beautiful village, next to the church and across the road from a lovely country pub, we stayed over the New Year and the landlord and his staff made us really welcome. We parked the car in the pub car park as parking is a little tight to the front, he was fine when we told him where we were staying. The apartment is ideal for visiting the sites and the twice hourly train into Brighton is definitely to be utilized if you plan on a visit. We would really like to thank Michelle for the Fizz she left us and we look forward to staying at the Old Post Office in the future.

The Old Post Office
Had an amazing stay at The Old Post Office for whilst visiting Ditchling for a friend's wedding. Great accommodation which was very spacious, had a comfy bed and an amazing bathroom. The apartment was also very clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend. It even had a full length mirror in the bedroom, which was exactly what I was needing for getting ready for a wedding. The apartment was in a great location - nearby to Hassocks train station, local shops and restaurants (all within a short walking distance). The host Michelle was lovely and very friendly. Nothing was a hassle for her. Next time we are visiting the area we would definitely stay at the Old Post Office.

Super mini break near Downs & Brighton
We've just enjoyed a lovely break at this apartment! Totally modern and very high spec - like staying in a 5* hotel! Little extras left in the kitchen for us but we ate out. We walked to the The Bull in Ditchling (10mins) - gorgeous food in trendy cosy pub and the other night we caught the train into Brighton, there's a train station in hassocks and it only took 10mins or less and we were by the sea! We were going to hire bikes and cycle up to the Downs (there's a place at the station we noticed) but decided to walk instead. It's soooo beautiful! There were loads of maps and info in the apartment for walking routes. Stunning views from the Jack & Jill windmills despite some drizzle! I'm glad we chose this one, we were unsure as we usually stay in Brighton but this is a really good balance with everything easily accessible and delicious interior!

A+++ Flat. Hospitality at its best.
We are a family of three (2 adults and our 6y old daughter) and stayed at the Old Post Office for three weeks. The flat is been newly refurbished and its very modern and very convenient. Its located within walking distance from Hassocks train station, but if you have a car its not a problem at all. There is plenty of free on-street parking. The owner (Michelle) was always helpful and gave us some good hints regarding pubs, places to visit and walking or cycling paths. All in all a perfect place to stay if you want to visit Brighton (less than 10 minutes by train) or if you want to discover the beauty of the South Downs.

Small is beautiful
The Old Post Office is a lovely light, bright, clean apartment. We loved the location - easy for Brighton and a good base to explore the surrounding countryside and small towns. The lovely big bed was very comfortable and the bathroom is really nicely appointed. The kitchen is only small, but then, who cooks on holiday? All in all a very nice place to stay and good value for money.

I work in Travel and have spent many nights in various 5 star hotels - I wanted the apartment to be comfortable without compromising style. I love walking and cycling and the area is great for this.

Why they chose this property

Our family home was opposite, we moved from Brighton as was getting too busy and wanted more space for our children. Originally it was the Village Post Office, however I bought it when the Post Master retired. It has been sympathetically restored.

What makes this property unique

It is in a really enviable position, as is so close to Brighton and Lewes and yet is at the foot of the South Downs, with Ditchling Village just along the Road, and Hurstpierpoint, also a beautiful village. There is a village pub opposite and a historic Church a few meters away. Also it is a converted Old Post Office with the box still being used by locals. If you love walking/cycling and yet love the City life - this is great!

Also the apartment is extremely sunny as is South Facing, and decorated to a very high standard.
