We had such a lovely time in Swanage and our stay in Anvill Lodge made it even better. Cat & family are brilliant hosts and the location is perfect for exploring the beauty around this area.

Swanage short stay

Very clean and well equipped. Excellent kitchen and lounge.Close proximity to walking on the SW coastal trail. Other attractions - enjoyed steam train from Swanage to Corfe Castle, Purbeck Way, Old Harrys Rocks and Studland beach. Just 2 items that the house could have done with, scissors and hair dryer. Need to be aware that property is on an unmade road up a steep hill from the town.

Fantastic short break at the lovely lodge

The lodge is perfectly positioned on the coastal path for quick access to the sea and Swanage itself (about a 10 minute walk). The property was spotless and well appointed with a new kitchen and a great outside space to eat - including a BBQ, which was lovely!. Cat is very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for the stay, including suggesting a great walk and pub stop in Worth Matravers. You can tell that she looks after the lodge well and had thought about what people might need while they’re there. Overall our stay was wonderful and this lodge is such a special find if you’re looking for a convenient base for some fantastic walks around the coast! Thank you for having us!

Perfect getaway.

Anvil lodge is simply charming in an idyllic setting; we enjoyed a really peaceful and relaxing stay for 4 nights but wish we’d stayed for longer. The lodge was super cosy and comfortable with everything we needed for us and our 9 month old daughter. Cat was a brilliant host in making sure we had everything we needed and with great suggestions for local activities. The surrounding area is delightful with so many things to see and do.....We really hope to return here in the future.

Great tranquil and comfortable getaway, loved it!

Lovely little cottage equipped with everything you’ll need for a perfect family getaway. Set in tranquil surroundings this cosy little cottage is ideal for that time away from the hussle and bussle. I went with my wife and 18 month old and we loved every minute, helped by the fact that the owner was lovely and helpful from start to finish. We would definitely recommend and we’ll be back in the future!

Absolut erholsam

Lovely little lodge set in beautiful countryside

Well presented, clean, charming lodge set just minutes from breathtaking coastal scenery. It’s the perfect place to unwind and settle in to. The lodge itself is well appointed and open plan, and finished to a high standard. Cat is absolutely fantastic and ensured we settled in quickly, greeting us on arrival and providing plenty of useful information. I would thoroughly recommend this place as a base for some wonderful time away!

Fantastic! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A perfect location for what we wanted.

The barn was surprisingly spacious, very comfortable with a lovely open plan living space and kitchen. Our children fell in love with it straightaway. Most things were provided for as listed on property details, and there is convenient parking next to the property. The location is wonderful, so peaceful and with country side, coastal paths and meadows all around, yet the town is in walking distance. We came in May and everything looks so pretty. The main thing is there is little wifi here which is something to bear in mind if you rely on it, however we were only too pleased to retreat from the on-line world and relax and spend quality time.

Charming, clean, comfortable property and warm welcome

This was an ideal get away for us, 2 adults and 2 boys for 3 nights. We had everything we needed in a really lovely, picturesque location. The lodge is charming, it’s well equipped, comfortable and clean and had its own patio area to sit out on. There’s a microwave, excellent shower, everything you need. The velux windows were beautiful in the bedroom, we had to be a bit careful with our youngest though as there aren’t any safety locks on them. There is a line to hang out washing which was v handy. No washing machine but possibly only an issue if you’re there for over a week. The boys loved the hammock and the outside space! The owners provided lots of info on activities, walking and the milk, tea and coffee supplies were appreciated. It’s an excellent base for walking to the coastal paths or town. I did the coastal paths with the boys and they loved them and it was doable with a 5 and 10 year old. Swanage was at its finest as we had the most amazing weather so lots of visits to the sandy beach (lots of seaweed), walking, shopping in the town. It’s also def worth going to the different view points like Durlston and the Globe. Lots we didn’t get to do, for next time like the Steam train, Corfe, Sandbanks. It’s a lovely place to visit with warm, friendly hosts. They go out of their way to help you. Thanks again for the help with our phone!! It’s now working again. Very much hope to revisit.

Charming, comfortable and great location

Was a bit worried when we drew up as it looked tiny but once inside it was like a Tardis. Owner was very welcoming and obliging especially as we changed our minds about how long we were staying. The 'lodge' was spacious and well equipped and for once had comfortable soft beds; mattresses are usually rock hard in holiday rentals we have found. OK, you had to bend over upstairs to avoid banging your head but at such good value, this was a small price to pay for the accommodation. Having the option of a sofa bed downstairs for helpful too as my eldest did fall out of bed once or twice as she is used to a double bed at home. The youngest was fine and slept really well, Great location for walking and very quiet. Loved waking up to sound of birdsong, seagulls and a donkey braying at 830ish am more or less every day. Makes a change from a rooster! The only thing missing for us was a washing machine as we got very muddy during our stay and would have been good to been able to wash some trousers through. Not sure where it could have gone though. Would certainly consider returning too as we had so much more to see and do. 3 days wasn't enough.

Anvil Lodge was presentable, comfortable and peaceful.

Anvil Lodge was just what we needed for a few nights away. Great walks from the door. Easy access into Swanage. Cat is lovely and helpful and respects your privacy. The Lodge was really clean and comfy and well equipped. Perfect space for entertaining our family visitors on Easter Sunday. Just a thought - some hooks would be useful in bathroom to hang towels on and a wider door mat so people could put wet/dirty footwear on the mat. We couldn’t leave ours outside because of the rain at night. We would definitely recommend Anvil Lodge. Thank you Cat.

Great cottage, great location, great hosts

We (family of 4) came from Germanyto stay at AnvilLodge for 9 days. We had a great vacation! The cottage is very clean, there is enough space for a family of 4 to stay here, The hosts (Cat and her family) are such friendly people. It was always a pleasure to have a little chat. The kitchen is equipped perfectly, so a few times we cooked our meals at the cottage, but we also used the grill to have BBQs. In and around Swanage there are quite a few places to go and have dinner if you don't want to cook. A walk down to Swanage (e.g. The Black Swan Inn or Tawny's) is about 10 minutes. So thanks Cat and family for a great vacation! We hope to come back some day!

Beautiful secluded accommodation on the outskirts of Swanage

What a lovely, peaceful place to stay. So many places to walk to and enjoy the wonderful scenery. Stumbled across the Square and Compass pub then walked on to Corfe Castle returning on the steam train to Swanage. Also enjoyed The Pig Hotel in Studland - quirky restaurant serving great food and great service and what a setting. Thank you Cat Mittins we will be back one day.

Cosy and comfortable

A lovely place to stay to get away from the business of a normal week. The lodge was well equipped for our needs and in an ideal situation to reach the beautiful coastal scenery. We didn't need our car all weekend!

Perfect location

We stayed at Anvil lodge during the Easter break. It was perfect! Walking distance to the Country Park, Jurassic Coast and the beach. My daughter loved being outdoors. The barn itself was cosy, clean and peaceful. The owners Cat and James were extremely helpful...it was like being home from home. A perfect place to switch off from work and enjoy our family time.
