Acorn Cottage provides an ideal location to explore the North Devon coast between Bideford and Hartland., including Westward Ho! and the charming village of Clovelly. We found the cottage comfortable with everything we needed, including a garden to soak up the sunshine. We were lucky that the weather was warm and dry.
The host Julie was very welcoming and recommended some good places to go and visit. The cottage was very clean and ideal located. Would highly recommend and would stay here again.
Thanks John and Lisa
We had a great time staying here in May despite the unusual cold, wet and windy weather. The location is perfect, nice coastal walks within walking or driving distance. The cottage is small and cosy which was perfect for 2 of us. The property manager was really helpful and responded quickly to any queries and we had a lovely surprise of milk and Devon cream tea with scones waiting for us when we checked in.
It was very easy and quick to book the cottage. Very clean and everything was there that we needed. Great location near lots of areas to visit in North Devon.
Julie a superb host very helpful ..advice on which landmarks to see..highly recommend..cost home from home and a good base to visit Devons beautiful surrounding areas
We stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year period. We found the cottage to be well equipped and comfortable. Parking was right outside. The only slight negative for us, was that the electric heating took a while to warm up the cottage. Fortunately we had taken our own portable heater, which helped and as you pay for the electricity you use, we felt this was acceptable.
Cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the local area, there are many fab beaches to walk: Westwood Ho! is only 10 mins drive away and Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are around 45 mins.
The local pub, The Coach and Horses is less than a 5 minute walk away. It’s cosy and nice for a drink. There is another pub, The Hoops, which is within walking distance in the summer when the roads are light as there isn’t a pavement.
The cottage is totally private. The owner lives on site – we liked the fact that she made it clear we could knock the door if we needed anything, but other than that we were left alone.
There was also a private garden, which we didn't utilise, but would be ideal in the warmer months.
Decided to take a short break in Devon and found this property in an ideal location to visit many places including a lovely walk from house to rocky beach. Had great time and house was very clean and owner very helpful & in house next door should we have had an issue which we didn't. All great and thanks

Ideal touring base, well equipped, clean and comfortable.
We were met by Trevor and Julie, and made welcome, details of the property were explained, it was very clean, well equipped, set in an ideal location for our intended one week touring holiday of North Devon. We travelled the coast from Tintagle to Woolacombe. The sunset at Hartland Quay was just wonderful and a highlight. We were fortunate in that the weather was glorious. We had two reasonably priced, well presented meals at the local pub, The Coach and Horses about 200 mtrs. walk from the property. It was a happy local pub and we were made welcome. We ate out most evenings there are wide choice of restaurants in the area, we never had a bad meal. There is so much to see and do in the area, Including the National Trust Property at Arlington, the villages of Clovelly, Bude, Boscastle, to walking the glorious beaches at Instowe or visiting the Maritime Museum at Appledore. The Atlantic Shopping Centre is about a 10 minute drive from the property towards Bideford. The fuel at Asda was a money saver, but the many outlet stores at the centre were attractive!! I say no more!!!
It was a great holiday week, We would recommend Acorn Cottage and will visit again. Pete and Judy

Well presented holiday accommodation.
During our time in UK this year we are renting nine cottages across England and Wales, including
Acorn Cottage. It is the only one where electricity is not included in the rent, rather pay by 1 pound meter, which we found unusual.

About the host

I have three grown up children and have lived in North Devon for 23 years after moving down from Oxfordshire. I have two very cute white Bichon Frise dogs who like to be everyone's friend.
Why they chose this property
Lovely part of the world for all ages. Plenty of fantastic beaches and walks both on Exmoor and Dartmoor. Relaxed, chilled and scenic area with walks to a local beach but also not too far from the nearest pub or town.
What makes this property unique
The property is right on the A39 and is accessible to both Devon and Cornwall. It has off road parking, is a very safe area to live and stay and is only a stones throw from the local pub, bus stop and beach.
