This property is easily the most well- equipped property we have ever stayed at! It has everything you could possibly need or want and much more! The beds were ultra comfy, and the views were breathtaking. The hot tub was definitely a favorite among our little group!

Fantastic stay
Beautiful property on manicured grounds. Lovely space for everyone in the party. Wish we had more time to spend there before driving back to Edinburgh. Perfectly appointed with gorgeous high end furnishings. They literally had everything we might possibly need! We became obsessed with the hand soap scent and had to amazon some to our house before leaving. The drive to the house is super entertaining due to the rises, falls, twists, and turns. The host was very easy to communicate with. This is a perfect vacation home as it truly encourages you to escape into relaxation!!! Highly recommend as one of the best properties we have stayed in!!

A fabulous House
We had a fantastic three night visit and enjoyed every minute. The house has many features and is maintained to a very high standard. The beds were all extremely comfortable and although it was cold outside the house was lovely and warm. We will definitely want to return, hopefully in spring or summer to enjoy more outdoor time, in and around Loch Awe. Many thanks to Scott our host who was very helpful and communicative, always answering calls, messages and emails promptly.

Achnasmeoroch
A splendid Victorian villa in superb grounds & very quiet. Facilities & activities provided are excellent. Another bath would be good.. Bunk beds not terribly safe for our 8 year old & 6 year old, we had to barricade the gap. Loads of space for separate activities & the games room excellent for the odd showers. All in all, my daughters, sons in law, husband & granddaughters all said they would return! It is obviously a loved holiday home, not just a holiday let.

Wonderful place for a 3-generation family of 11
We spend a week with 6 adults (grand-parents, 2 families with 5 children 11-18 years old). It was a great experience with lots of options for everyone. A day of rain is no problem with so many things to do in and around the house. Canoeing, fishing, from their jetty, small football court, game room, family room, several rooms with a beautiful view on Loch Awe. Lots of video's. Hot tub. All in impeccable state. We had a great time. Very responsive and helpful owner (Scott) . Highly recommended. August 2019 - Anton Berns

The property was fantastic, and the views are incredible. Scott was kind enough to let us have our wedding here and it was the perfect intimate setting for us. The facilities are great and there is plenty to do to keep occupied. We will definitely return in the future.

Beautiful Holiday Home!
This is not just a holiday house, but has a great sense of home. We all loved it for that, as it isnt always easy to keep everyone happy all at once! The layout is fabulous, and gives a great sense of space, but cosy at the same time. There is something for everyone here, and well thought out with everyone in mind. We loved it, the views, the peace and quite, and down at the jetty, where you can fish, go kayaking, canoeing, and much more, or just sit by the loch side and enjoy the views. The owners couldn't be more helpful and pleasant, going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We liked it so much we would love to return! Thank you for such an enjoyable time!

Perfect place to escape from the city
We were a group of 10 Londoners who wanted to escape the city and celebrate Christmas together and all agreed we couldn't have found a better place to do so! The house and its surroundings exceeded our expectations. The house was so warm and inviting and had been decorated for christmas. It was very clean and well equipped, particularly when it came to cooking and eating all together. The Aga was a joy to use and there was plenty of crockery, the double dishwashers were most appreciated! The jetty gave us the perfect place to enjoy breathtaking sunrises and camp fires at dusk. Those of us brave enough also enjoyed kayaking out on the loch. The house was big enough for everyone to have space to themselves if they wanted it but still felt very cosy. The games room has a lot to offer and saw much competition. Scott was very helpful with suggestions and answered all our questions quickly. I would recommend a stay here to anyone reading and hope to stay here again myself at some point in the future.

Achnasmeorach house is truly a gem.
Our family of 6 adults and 4 children under 10 had fantastic holiday at Achnasmeorach House. The house and the setting are beautiful and the amenities are amazing. The view from the house over the loch is one you can never tire of. The house is spacious, the bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size and the downstairs offers several places to all be together or to find a quiet spot if needed! We enjoyed being able to eat together both inside and outside the house. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything is very good quality. There are so many things to do at the house - hot tub, games room, soccer pitch, kayaks, fishing gear, just name a few. It was nice to be able to walk to the local inn. Scott, the owner, was incredibly helpful and prompt with any enquiries. Everything about our stay was positive and we would highly recommend this property.

Great house and fantastic location
We had a fantastic stay at Achnasmeorach House. The house is amazing and everyone absolutely loved it. My wife and I chose to get married here because of the scenic location and we really couldn't of had a better time. We had great fun jumping in the Loch and made use of the kayaks and hot tub. Would also recommend taking the short walk to the kilchrenan Inn for some tastey food and drinks.

This is an amazing place to stay - you have to go
Beautiful location that is made even more special by the amazing house. Even the mist and rain we had couldn’t spoil the enjoyment, this really is a fabulous place for family and friends of all ages to get together and have a magical time. Attention to detail by Scott and his family makes their house a home from home at the same time providing luxurious surroundings that you can relax into with ease. We used everything the house provided and felt like we’d had the best time, not wanting to leave. We would definitely return and feel it would be extremely hard to beat this place with everything it had to offer, not only as it was definitely value for money, but, because there was so much to enjoy. Achnasmeorach House is a credit to the owners and we thank you for allowing us have the run of the whole place.

Fabulous property.
We stayed as two families (5+4) and had a wonderful week. High spec fixtures and fittings. Fabulous view. Saw in the loch and fully utilised the canoe, kayak and fishing gear. The paddle board was also great fun. The hot tub was used daily and enjoyed by all. We were spoiled by the weather but would come back again to this great place.

The perfect place.
Our group of ten were delighted with the cleanliness and comfort of this beautiful, spacious home. We enjoyed a mix of water sport activities and total relaxation, making use of the wonderful facilities. We also booked a yoga session, on- site. The location is stunning and the wildlife a bonus! We strolled to the local inn in sunshine, accompanied by birdsong. A most perfect place! I can highly recommend this property and look forward to returning in the future. The owner, Scott, was welcoming and helpful in all correspondence.

Fantastic villa in quiet & stunning surroundings
Traveled to this beautiful location from the Netherlands with 10 friends. Prior to arrival the owner was very helpful in organizing our trip with great local suggestions. Finally we even skipped some events, because the house has everything you need. Fully equipped, very spacious, clean, stylish & well maintained. We caught a pike from the jetty with available fishing gear, enjoyed the large barbeque, the wellness, the pool table and a lot more! (bath-)rooms are spacious and clean and the overall experience was just perfect, I would definitely recommend this great place!

Our family had the pleasure of staying at this property for a 50th Birthday weekend celebration. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning with magnificent views over loch awe. Every one of us loved it and wish we could have stayed longer. We made full use of the hot tub and games room and had a lovely meal, enjoyed by everyone, in the nearby Kilchrenan Inn. The communication from the owner Scott was fantastic throughout and they were extremely helpful. I hope to return to this property again but for longer.

A stupendous house with a genuine wow factor
The house is located in a wonderful position, with stunning views over Loch Awe. It is really well supplied, and there is plenty of space for the whole family, and more. Unusually in my experience, Sky Sports is installed and the wifi works well everywhere. There are kayaks, a brilliant games room, and a very calming hot tub. The owners provide very detailed information about things to do, in rain or sun. There is even a very effective midge-destruction machine. We had no bother with them all week. Possibly the best holiday house I have ever stayed in. It isn't cheap, but its worth every penny.

Fantastic holiday!
We stayed in this amazing house in late May / early June. We were two families of 8, including 4 children aged between 10-14. The house is immaculate and incredibly well-equipped, and the children had one of their best holidays playing in the dedicated games room, taking canoes onto the loch or playing football on the pitch in front of the house. As for the adults, we all agreed the house was perfect. The owners have thought of everything, which meant we immediately went into holiday mode. The views from the house were utterly breathtaking and the long hours of daylight meant we could enjoy looking out onto the loch until late at night. The house was very spacious, with five good sized bedrooms and an extra room off the huge master suite that can easily accommodate another two people. The size of the living areas meant that we were all able to find a quiet area whenever we wanted and no-one felt as though they were on top of each other. The property is located towards the end of a no-through road, so there was very little passing traffic. The nearby village of Taynuilt (about 9 miles away) has essential items, and we ordered a Tesco delivery for our arrival. There is also a fab pub less than a mile from the house. We ate there twice during our stay and had great food and friendly service both times. There is lots to see and do in the area. We went to Inverary jail on a rainy day, did an afternoon horse riding trek, visited Oban, went out on the water with Sea-fari (a definite highlight) and climbed Ben Nevis. There is still loads we want to see and do in the area, and we all hope hope to return one day to this piece of paradise. A huge thank you to Scott, who was very responsive to emails. We all had the most perfect holiday and have many wonderful memories from our time in Achnasmeorach House.

Achnasmeorach House
This old (possibly once a farmhouse) home is beautifully situated on the edge of Loch Awe. It is south facing and has large and well kept gardens ablaze (at this time of year) with azaleas and rhododendrons. Inside it has five spacious bedrooms, one with a very modern en suite bathroom. There are three other bathrooms, all well equipped. The kitchen is warm, thanks to the Aga, and easily fits a ten adults around the counter or the long dining room table. There are two big lounges with TV and comfortable chairs. Our week was warm and sunny so the outdoor facilities were more important to us. These included the "football field" overlooked by the patio with chairs and table where drinks in the evening sun were enjoyed every evening. To the rear was the hot tub, the games room (pool, darts, bar football) and the children's play centre. Across the road there was a boat house with three canoes, paddles and life jackets all available for the use of guests. Everything was in working order and just as described in the owner's brochure. Our family week (eight adults, two 'teens and two toddlers) was a big success because of the comforts and facilities of Achnasmeorach House and its position in the heart of wonderful walking country. The drive to Oban (about 30 minutes) was easy and we loved the town for its harbour, interesting shops, restaurants and distillery. This note does not do justice to the fun we had together in this lovely place. I can only say go there and try it yourself, it will not disappoint.

Host profile image
My wife and I live in central Edinburgh with our 6 'twenty something' year old children. We have owned the house for almost 20 years now and over the years have enjoyed many happy holidays and short breaks/long weekends with family and friends at this beautiful loch side house. Achnasmeorach House is where we 'get away from it all' and where we chill........and all within a minutes walk of the shore and 12 minutes walk of one of the best Gastro Pubs in the Western Highlands of Scotland, the Kilchrenan Inn which we also own and which has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The house has everything you could expect of a family home and is a real 'home from home'. The reviews from pervious guests say it all really.

Why they chose this property

The house enjoys an exceptional loch side position with its own private shoreline, jetty, boathouse, slipway and 7 seater hot tub! Surrounded by the dramatic and wonderful scenery of Argyll with magnificent Ben Cruachan as a backdrop and stunning views across Loch Awe, this Victorian house is furnished to an extremely high standard in a contemporary style and offers everything required to create a relaxing and memorable short break or vacation. We are also within walking distance of one of the best pub/restaurants in the West Highlands, which reopened on October 2016 following it's first major refurbishment in over 40 years! The house has the space and facilities for all age groups. With plenty of living space, a wonderful large garden and a unique location making it perfect for special occasions, memorable gatherings and short breaks for groups of family or friends. Over the past few years we have invested heavily in the house making it, in our opinion, one of.........if not the most luxurious of Scottish holiday homes currently available on the market. The Drawing Room, Family TV Room and The Games Cabin have both been upgraded only this past year. You will not be disappointed.

What makes this property unique

The stunning views, the shoreline and the magnificent scenery are what make the situation of this house truly unique. On the one hand it is in a relatively remote location offering peace and quiet, however the house is only a short walk from the village centre and the newly refurbished Kilchrenan Inn, a unique gastro pub with over 50 covers plus a wonderful bar fully stocked with your favourite Scottish Gins and Whiskies. The house is also close by the Taychreggan Hotel which offers a 2 AA Rosette dining experience. The Ardenasaig Hotel, which offers a 3 AA Rosette dining experience is only a 5 minute drive away. The nearest village, Taynuilt has a train station, a 9 hole golf course, Post Office, tea room, Taynuilt Inn (excellent restaurant/pub 2AA), grocers and butchers is a 15 minute drive. The nearest main town, Oban has great shops including a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, FatFace, Marks & Spencers Food, Homebase, Argos, New Look, Boots, Specsavers, Waterstones Books, WH Smith, Costa Coffee, Wetherspoons plus many other local shops and restaurants such as GelatoBurger, Cuan Mhor, La Piazza, FishHouse, Ee-usk, Coast and Etive to name but a few. The town also boasts the Oban Distillery, a harbour, the main Ferry terminal to the inner and outer Hebridean Islands, a train station, swimming pool, a micro brewery, and an 18 hole golf course. Oban is also has some amazing restaurants and calls itself the Sea Food Capital of Scotland. Oban airport is less than half an hours drive away giving quick and inexpensive access by plane to many of the inner and outer Hebridean Islands.
