Very nice stay at cottage. Lovely location, perfect for long or short walks. Nearest shop is Leyburn 4 miles away so need to stock up on provisions such as milk etc before arrival
Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Great having the enclosed grass area for the dog. With three teenagers the large lounge plus snug great to spread everyone plus 3 bathrooms!

very clean and big and well cared for cottage
very good family cottage all what you need and good views
Excellent family holiday home in great location for the Dales!
Extremely clean, well equipped , family house ideally situated for touring the Dales National Park. Lovely private garden next to a field with pheasants, hares and sheep.
Great property for 6 friends doing some walking in the area. Very spacious and well equipped. Only drawback for us was that the pub in the village was closed, but the owner recommended the Wheatsheaf nearby, and we had a couple of lovely meals there.
We had a lovely week in the cottage, there was plenty of space and the kitchen was well equipped. There are many lovely walks from the door which we enjoyed with the dogs. The only down side was that the enclosed "secret" garden wasn't accessible due to being over grown.
Beautiful house, tastefully decorated and all the little details have been thought of. Plenty of room in the house, log burner for cozy evenings and having the 3 bathrooms was definitely a bonus. Although we didn't really use it due to bad weather there is also a nice patio with garden furniture and a lovely orchard garden. Local village pub also does great food. Would absolutely recommend.
Ideal base for a walking holiday around Wensleydale and Swaledaleee
Well equipped in every respect. Three showers are useful when a group returns tired and perhaps a bit muddy.
Also, a good size entrance porch in which to divest muddy boots etc.
And, the icing on the cake, is a properly equipped kitchen.
Plenty of space for all. Super comfy beds. Has to be the best equipped kitchen for cooking although limited worktop space. Watching the sheep from the patio was a delight.
Three minutes from the Bolton Arms for good food.
If there is a niggle it would be the family bathroom shower that needs an update but don’t let that stop you.
Spacious clean 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom with all facilities and a wonderful view from the kitchen and 3rd bedroom to the hills across a field full of sheep and rabbits. Pretty village of Redmire has a local pub and is handy for Leyburn and only 20 mins drive from Richmond and 35 mins from Hawes. Well-placed for sightseeing and wonderful walks in Wensleydale, Coverdale, Swaledale. Very helpful owners. Highly recommended
Overall an excellent stay, property is well equipped and well appointed. Level of cleanliness was excellent and the Christmas decorations lovely
Only slightly negative for us was outside lighting not working which makes life difficult with the dogs in the winter and an enclosed outside space would have been useful
Not the fault of the owners of course but the pub is currently closed which was a shame
We have had a great Christmas away from home and would certainly recommend this property to others the owners are very responsive on e mail and everything was as expected
Thank you

The property was clean and very spacious, but the best thing about it was the location, so quiet and beautiful, with lovely walks nearby, including to Redmire Force on the river Ure where I swam a couple of times.
We had a minor issue with the plumbing that required attention and the hosts were very responsive and got it resolved quickly.
I'd also asked if it was ok to have friends over for an afternoon tea party and the hosts provided extra garden chairs and were really helpful with parking suggestions.
4 adults and 2 dogs enoyed a lovely stay at Flax Mill in early June 2023. The house is very well equipped and comfortable with everything you need for your holiday. Redmire is a good base to get out into the Dales to explore, as well as taking in some beautiful local walks.
The host and owner, who lives close by, were really helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately the pub in the village has been closed for a while, but we heard that it has now been bought so should be reopening shortly. We arranged for a supermarket delivery on our 1st morning as there is not a shop in Redmire, but there are plenty of shops in nearby Leyburn, just a 15 min bus ride away.
We would have no hesitation in returning to Flax Mill.
Lovely village and the house is located next to sheep field and lovely view beyond. Good comfortable bedrooms and lovely sitting room. Some fixtures felt a little cheap and dated, which detracted a little from the feel of the nice house. The kitchen set up with a swing door made it difficult to ‘corral’ the dogs as we didn’t want them roaming the house. The main garden is beautiful and although is not directly connected to the house, it is easily accessed just over a neighbours driveway - however this garden is not enclosed. The back courtyard is enclosed and directly off the kitchen/utility room and looks over the sheep field which has a charming view. Overall a comfortable stay in a very nice house.
We have just returned from a weeks stay in this great property. The property is very well equipped for your stay and is situated in a perfect location for exploring the area.
We stayed here at Flax Mill for a week last month (October). Just wanted a quiet place to relax and chill for a week with our two dogs, Toby (Westie) and Alfie (Bichon cross) and that's what we did. My Mum & Dad also came to stop for three nights - I got in touch with Ruth, the owner before our stay and she made sure their bedroom was made up for them - which was great. We had a lovely meal and a couple of drinks at the Bolton Arms literally a 2 minute walk from the bungalow. We looked around the village hall and bought a few books they had on sale, the locals were really friendly too. The weather wasn't great but then again we didn't expect it to be but made the best of every moment. The bungalow is warm and cozy with the added benefit of all that space and room - the log fire was lovely and just what we needed after being drenched the day we visited the waterfalls at Askrigg lol!
We found the instructions for parking, checking in and out really informative. The garden is fab if you have dogs, our two get up at 5am every morning so this was great for us. The patio can be enclosed but wouldn't have worked for us as Alfie is a jumper and jumped onto the wall to see the sheep lol. We've never booked anywhere twice but we fell in love with the area and the bungalow and have re booked for July 2022. That really says it all. If you want room and space, a relaxing holiday in the Yorkshire Dale's this is your place! Thanks for having us!!
Beautiful village and so much to see and do in the area. The house is large and well equipped. Lovel
Large property, suitable for large families. Kitchen well equipped. If taking small child then may need stair gate into the lounge. Overall lots to see and do in the area. Lovely walks nearby and Bolton Castle well worth a visit. Leyburn has great facilities and shops that are open late.
Lovely spot in this quiet village, close enough to Leyburn for supplies and central for exploring. Fields at the back with sheep and lambs. Walks from the doorstep down to the river for paddling for kids. A great pub for food and drinks (family friendly)
We really enjoyed Flax Mill, it was spacious for us and our 4 children, the added bonus of games/ kids tv room was great! The children made good use of the large lawned area playing ball games. The private patio area, which you can make secure was perfect for keeping our toddler and little terrier safe. The house had everything you need! We would love to come back again soon.
good size property in an excellent location with every effort to comply with any Covid regulations - walks from the door and ideal to access the Dales, facilities in easy reach. Neighbours were friendly and helpful. Only criticism would be that the kitchen and utensils could be "tight" for seven people, but overall a great property and location.
Spacious property with all your needs for a relaxing holiday. Some nice walks from the doorstep down to the river or up to Castle Bolton. Amazing views. Peaceful and quiet. Great pub only a few minutes walk away serving great food.

About the host
Hosted by The Disneys
Our love of the Yorkshire Dales (inc honeymoon in 1992) led to a dream being fulfilled in 2011 with our first (neighbouring) cottage in Redmire. A warm welcome from the villagers and the nearby excellent Bolton Arms confirmed that Redmire was also the place for our first foray into letting a holiday home. One of us tries to be on hand to welcome guests and explain the extensive amenities and grounds that your party can enjoy, with orchard and small paddock, great for children and dogs.
We are pleased with the delightful comments guests have made, mostly about the spacious interior and grounds and how Flax Mill has 'everything they need'. Our guests' comfort is our paramount concern and we want you to feel Flax Mill lives up to, and exceeds, our claim.
Why they chose this property
Apart from the pub, friendly villagers and views, convenience is a big plus for Redmire, with Leyburn and its small supermarkets and speciality stores only 5 miles away and lots of local attractions to visit. Walkers and cyclists will find ample trips and walks on the doorstep, with (for the energetic) no need to get in the car to see Castle Bolton, Redmire Falls, Bolton Hall, Aysgarth Falls and the Wensleydale Railway at its Redmire terminus.
