Beautiful quiet rural holiday

A perfect location to escape for the holidays, being situated right in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by fields and the only noise you hear is birdsong. Very little light pollution for star gazers. The property was easy to access with good instructions and can be found on Waze/Google maps. The nearest supermarket is a 10-15 minute drive away and more than enough for most needs although hypermarkets are available within a half an hour drive. Well situated for visiting Loire Valley castles and vineyards. Downstairs had, a good size fridge/freezer and a halogen hob coupled with an oven. Couple of minor things were broken like the hob extractor fan but not so much of an issue during the summer. Lots of space downstairs to spread out and a nice barbecue area. To be noted for taller people that upstairs has lots of exposed beams and you need to be on your guard. Fans were provided for the bedrooms as during very hot weather, upstairs could be stuffy and there are no mosquito nets, leading to nature joining you inside. Pool area was nice with motorised cover. Small problem with the pool on the first day was resolved quickly by the local agents so I was reassured that any problems would be dealt with (not that we had any further problems). A shame though that the promised freezer in the pool house had died some time ago and was mouldy inside. Not a dealbreaker for us but was in the description. Overall an enjoyable stay.

NIce House

A nice house with all amenities. Very clean and comfortable. Pool was nice and the heating was welcome as otherwise we wouldnt have used it. There isnt a hot tub though as advertised. There are very low beams in the main bedroom and even at 5ft 2" I knocked my head when getting out of bed as it was easy to forget them. So for tall people this may be a problem. You will need to use What 3 Words to find the place as it wasnt easy! Took longer than anticipated given the quoted mileage to get to various chateaux and towns.

Hidden Gem

Stayed here for a week with our children and dog. The property is exactly as described, surrounded by beautiful countryside, so peaceful and relaxing and surprisingly spacious. Andrew, the owner, could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend this rental and can't wait to return.

Peaceful and remote

This was a perfect location for us - we felt we were the only people on the planet! Beautiful evening barbecues and a lot of family games. Thank you.

Rural setting, peaceful, lovely swimming pool

Le Bois is a large barn conversion with plenty of space inside and out. It has 3 lovely bedrooms and the mattresses are so comfortable! I suffer from a bad back so this was really important and I wasn't disappointed. Downstairs has a huge lounge and dining area and a great kitchen. All thoughtfully decorated, clean and tidy and well equipped. Andrew and Jayne are great hosts who helped us with recommendations of where to visit and eat and even very kindly took our dogs for a walk one hot day when we had a long day out without them! When we visited it was during the heatwave and temperatures got up as high as 38 degrees. The pool was well used that week but we did suffer at nights without any fans inside which I think could be supplied as the upstairs bedrooms did get very hot and humid. Simple mosquito netting at the windows would help too which wasn't supplied but thankfully we took our own so were able to have the windows open and some fresh air without insects coming in. We loved our stay at Le Bois. We saw lots of wildlife and really felt immersed in nature, and the new heated swimming pool felt very luxurious. Lovely that we could take children and dogs and it all felt very informal and relaxed. It is very rural though so a car is essential to get anywhere. It was far too hot to contemplate walking 3 miles for a baguette and croissants! I would recommend Le Bois to friends wanting a peaceful escape from busy lives and a very quiet holiday with their doggies and children.

Beautiful property!

What a beautiful property! The pool is so nice, lots of loungers and both shade and sun. This is a very convenient location to see the Loire. We had a nice meal at the mushroom cave restaurant near Saumur, and if you are there during a market day, Langeais is also a nice town to have lunch and visit the market. We also recommend La Boufftard in Hommes - this was one of our favourite little restaurants in the area. We would also recommend kayaking along the Loire - very easy to do from Saumur, good for old and young as the river is shallow and slow moving. Le Bois is a large, but private property nestled in the trees amidst the countryside. The restored farmhouse is beautful inside and out - we highly recommend it.

Once again, simply the best!

This was our second visit to Le Bois, and once again we had a lovely stay. The gite is wonderful - impeccably restored with amazing oak beams. It's very private, but yet reasonably close to all the Loire valley has to offer. This year the owners added an amazing swimming pool with deck and cabana - you could really go here and have a great holiday without leaving the premises. As with last year, the gite was sparkling clean upon arrival; everything worked well; and the owners provided all the information we needed. We used the grill frequently in this trip and had several fantastic meals al fresco on the veranda. I'm a bit hesitant to post such a good review as I want to be able to get a booking for next year - but I've really not found a nicer place to stay on holiday!

Relaxing, spacious, beautiful surroundings

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the county then this is perfect for you. We were after an escape from our busy lives and somewhere that was suitable for children. This was spot on. Lovely pool, views, lots of space, outdoor eating areas etc. Be prepared that amenities are all a short drive, but this suited us fine as dinners out in the evening were not really an option having small children. There aren't many bars/cafés/tavernas close by but there is a super supermarket and so we enjoyed many lovely bbq's. The house is large and it contains all of the usual items one could need as well as WiFi. The pool is just fab and very clean.
