About this property

Large garden, dogs welcome,10 Minutes to Beach, EV charger, solar power, wifi.

Corbiere really is in a central position so you can enjoy the peace of the countryside and the views for miles across the fields to the back of the property. Sometimes the barn owl and weasels can be seen at dusk hunting along the field boundaries.

Corbiere has been completely refurbished ( Autumn 2018 and Easter 2019) and now offers home comforts such as a Smart TV, two sofas, microwave and washing machine. For guests with mobility needs please be aware that there is a step up into the shower and the drive is rather uneven. It is a compact bungalow and the bathroom is not large. The bedroom have hooks for hanging clothes on and hangers are supplied.

We have sowed an annual meadow in the field next to the garden that you can access from the car parking area for the last 4 years. Please do not let dogs into this area. You are welcome to take a cuppa and sit under the gazebo to enjoy the views across the field. Richard the farmer sometimes has cattle in the field but this year it looks as he's letting it grow for hay.

This autumn (2023) we are sowing the whole of the meadow area with a perennial mix that hopefully will germinate well over the winter and spring of 2024. The first area to the right of the path to the gazebo was sown with perennials in Autumn 2022 and the ox-eye daisies are cheerful. We also planted about 150 allium bulbs in the wildflower border next to the roadside verge last year but then let the flowers get too tall and they swamped the alliums. We shall be interested to see if they grow in 2024.

The long sandy beaches of Huttoft Bank and Anderby Creek are just a 10 minute car drive away. From there you can walk to Sutton on Sea (and even to Mablethorpe if you are feeling very energetic). There are plenty of dog friendly cafes at both seaside resorts and pubs to relax in and for refreshments. Chapel St Leonards has a pub on the beach... just turn right at the top of the access path and walk along... it's not far! It's called the Admiral Benbow.

Sutton on Sea has long sandy beaches to enjoy, a promenade to stroll along and a good variety of pubs, shops and restaurants to try, from the Bacchus Hotel to fish and chips. Children love the large paddling pool sheltered from the sea breeze and there are tennis courts and Petanque to try too. We easily entertained 6 children aged 10 to 18 for 3 days here. It is a quiet resort without amusements or slot machines. The paddling pool and long sandy beach with a lifeguard during the Summer holidays are excellent for young children too. We found that hiring a beach hut was a good idea and gave us a base with a kettle/sink/4 deckchairs from which we could relax but keep an eye on the children at the same time. To hire a beach hut e mail adriansosfirst@gmail.com

Mablethorpe is a larger resort with golden sand, a children’s paddling pool with squirting water features and amusements and rides along the prom. There are donkey rides in the summer and a cinema and Seal Sanctuary if the weather is wet. Linda's cafe in Queen's park sells meals for about £5!

Chapel St Leonards is also popular with families and dog lovers. the new North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point is well worth a visit for the cafe and sea viewing area too. It is on the Round Britain Coastal Path.

Skegness is about 30 minutes drive from Corbiere and has Butlins, Fantasy Island, and a huge variety of amusements, cafes and restaurants to try! You can visit as a day visitor.

For nature lovers, the breeding colony of grey seals at Donna Nook in November and December are a real ‘must’ and well worth trying to photograph. There are also nature reserves at Gibraltar Point (lovely cafe and raised viewing area) and Snipe Dales.

The Lincolnshire Wolds with their rolling hills are only a 25 minute drive away with the lovely market town of Louth to visit. Louth has independent shops, tea rooms and a market on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays throughout the year. Farmers Markets take place on the 4th Wednesday and 2nd Friday each month.

Corbiere is well located for a family or friends to explore this area. Please contact me if you wish to bring tents to accommodate more people as the garden is big enough for larger groups. The only thing you need to consider is how may people you want to share the one toilet!

Great place to stay
Great place. Plenty of room. Clean and tidy. Great for children plenty of toys and play area outside. Great location to go to the beach. We cycled to Mablethorpe and blessed with fantastic weather. The pub in the village had nice good but the manager didn’t like visitors or as he termed them tourists and didn’t make us feel welcome but his loss as we still had a good time at other locations.

A lovely break away
The bungalow was clean & tidy with appliances to use to help with our time there. The meadow was beautiful to sit in at sunrise & sunset. The beach was close by which the kids enjoyed but due to having to cut our stay up there short they didst get a chance to see butlins or the attractions around. Hopefully can stay again & they can stay longer to enjoy fully . Many thanks for the lovely stay

A very clean and nicely furnished property. The garden was secure, and felt safe for our 3 year old grandson, despite it being on a busy road. Anderby Creek a 10 minute drive away, with a lovely sandy beach.

Lovely property
Our 10th consecutive year staying here, we love the little bungalow, plenty of parking and it has everything we need. Not far from Sutton-on-Sea where we use a friend's beach hut. This year we visited Wren Farm, Huttoft Donkey Sanctuary, Chapel for the arcade rather than busy Mablethorpe, Red Lion for a drink in the sunshine, had a lovely meal at The Beach Bar in Sutton but booking is advisable. Went to cinema in Mablethorpe too and not forgetting Farmer Browns for an ice cream 🙂 The host is friendly and responsive to messages, already booked for next year. Lovely Chinese from Sutton. loWr Farm

Wonderful bungalow with plenty of space.
Great property. Garden is spacious and well kept. Meadow is beatiful. Loads of space for parking ( 2 to 3 cars ) Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and our dogs loved it. If i had to pick up on anything it would be that it is o a main road and its quite noisy at times but that does not detract from a very nice property.

Absolutely delightful
We had a wonderful time. Very comfortable bed, lovely kitchen and shower room. Wonderfully clean. The meadow garden was lovely, overlooking fields. Outside is a gazebo, two large 6-person picnic benches, outside table & chairs and a sturdy bench. The Wifi was fast and reliable, making streaming Netflix on the large Smart TV effortless. The visitor book in full of wonderful praise for Sarah (the owner) and the cottage - and justifiable so too. Loved it!

Relaxing break by the sea
This property was exactly as advertised. We had a lovely stay and wanted for nothing. Perfect holiday accommodation and although there was just me, hubby and the dog there was plenty of room for a family too. We particularly chose this property as it also had an EV charging point. This was very beneficial and very simple to use. The enclosed garden was fabulous for us with the dog too. The host even made ann effort to give us a call to check everything was ok which was really thoughtful. All in all a fabulous break and we will definitely book again. Highly recommend.

Everything that you could need
We stayed for 2 nights at Corbierre, the host Sarah was fabulous very friendly and good communication. The property was lovely and clean, modern and met all our requirements. The personal touch was greatly appreciated a bottle of red wine, a box of breakfast tea bags and a pouch of coffee, WiFi is excellent and so is the heating system. We stayed during January 2024 and the weather was fine but freezing temperatures, upon arriving the heating had been put on and the bungalow was toasty throughout our stay.

About the host

Hosted by Sarah Reynolds

Host profile image
Hello…. I am Sarah and I manage the Corbiere on behalf of my late husband Pete and his father Gordon, who is now in a nursing home, and Pete's sister too. Gordon built the bungalow next door in 1975 as their home and Corbiere was his tractor shed! When his eye-sight deteriorated and he could no longer drive or farm, Gordon built an extension on the tractor shed and changed it into a holiday bungalow. I now live in Sheffield and Pete's family home is rented out. It is called Corbiere as Pete's mother went to visit her brother who was posted to Jersey( when learning to become a Methodist minister). She loved the island. This trip made an impression on her and she named the holiday bungalow Corbiere after the light house on Jersey. We still holiday regularly in the bungalow so we can visit friends and family in the area. I pop over every few weeks to keep the garden under control and enjoy the quiet of long views and fresh air.

Why they chose this property

There are so many sandy beaches to play on that we still haven’t tried them all as we keep having to go back to our favourites! There are lifeguards at Sutton, Mablethorpe and Skegness for swimming in the sea. We have had many lovely weeks here and have even had 17 here one summer by putting all the children in tents outside while the ladies had the beds! It turned into a holiday camp! There is masses of space outside and parking for several cars so it is good for meeting other members of the family. Just ask if you want to pitch a tent on the grassy area and to bring more children than beds and we'll work out a price.

What makes this property unique

We hope that all our guests enjoy the clean and simple accommodation and the welcome item ( it changes from a bottle of Corbieres wine to biscuits! It's a bit random!) you find on arrival. We love the huge open spaces on the beach at Huttoft and the walk to cafes at Sutton on Sea or Anderby Creek. Lively resorts like Skegness and our favourite amusement arcade the ‘Lucky Strike’ are good for a rainy day. At the Lucky Strike you can enjoy a cuppa for £1 while the kids play on the 2p slots! Get them to save their coppers in advance. Meals there are about £4 on the chips/beans/sausage/egg theme.... always tasty and hot. If you go to the 'posh' cafe upstairs it was about £2.50 for a coffee! Be aware these are old prices as I haven't been able to update them this year! Just remember that Pete used to ‘shovel’ the coins as one of his jobs (the sheer amount of coins meant it was easier to weigh them than count them) …. so really only the arcade is the winner! The wildflower meadow is looking better each year and it's been described as beautiful by several guests in 2023. There's also a fair chance of seeing a barn owl silently fly over the field at the back at dusk. Butterflies and bees love the flowering privet hedge and all the flowers. You can pick mint and borage for you Pimms if you search amongst the flowers!
