About this property

Fully renovated chapel with sunny patio overlooking vineyards

Step through the door into this property and you will be amazed.

Entering directly into the living room, you will see the original high vaulted ceiling that formed part of the original rampart fortress. Beautifully restored to an extremely high standard, the property is a tasteful and fascinating mixture of original features and modern necessities, including wireless high-speed internet access, satellite TV and air-conditioning.

All fixtures and fittings have been carefully thought-out and chosen for their aesthetic values and practicality.
A fantastic winding staircase lifts you throughout the house - its huge master bedroom, immaculate bathroom, summer kitchen and living area opening to a spacious roof terrace with panoramic views over the village and vineyards beyond.

A second mezzanine bedroom is also available to sleep two.

Tear yourself away from the house, and it's just a few steps into the traditional village with all shops and restaurants and a weekly market on Fridays. Vineyards surround the village like green oceans, while the Mediterranean and its beaches and seafood restaurants lies a short drive away.

Longterm Pleasures

Over the last ten years we’ve arranged medium- and long-term rentals for ten accommodations in Europe. Our nine-week rental of this house in Caux was very special in every way: comfort, roominess, furnishings, well-stocked kitchens, bathroom with double sinks and shower, washing machine, reliable high-speed wifi, heat. The ground floor renovated chapel with kitchen, dining, and living room areas is stunning; first floor bedroom and study area spacious; second floor living area with kitchen and patio cheery and bright. Too, the location is excellent: the region filled with history, culture, natural beauties; a hiker’s delight through villages, vineyards, fields, hills and along the sea; the historically rich city of Pezenas with its truly wondrous Saturday market 10 minutes away, and the cities of Narbonne and Montpellier less than an hour. Too, all of our exchanges with the owner, Sam Weil, were pleasant, cordial, forthright. A wonderful experience in all ways!

Charmantes, besonderes Haus in interessantem Dorf

Schöne Ferienwoche in Caux

Beautiful chapel in the old city

We quite enjoyed our stay here. Caux is a small town, so anywhere is basically a good location, but this is especially so, being right in the old town. The only downside was that there are alot of stairs, but we knew that going into it, and it also adds to the uniqueness of the property. Overall the place was great, had a unique feel to it, and had an amazing patio overlooking the town and countryside.

Unique and lovely location

We so enjoyed staying here. The location is excellent in the centre of the jolie medieval town of Caux. Inside the chapel arches and features are beautiful. The spiral staircase is unique and fun as long as your knees do not mind the workout between ground and second floor! The terrace at the top has stunning views and a great living space. It is right next to the church so the bells chime but it is pleasantly all part of the location. The house is spacious and well appointed. There is a road around the centre so parking is about 50 meters away but a bit tricky to work out where is ok and taking your car into the central tiny medieval streets is a no-no! There is a bakery, butcher and grocer there and supermarkets/petrol in Pezanas a 15 minute drive away. The neighbours were friendly and very helpful. I would indeed return here again.

What a surprising, wonderful place!

We stayed here for nine months and loved it. What a surprising, wonderful place! Living room a vast medieval chapel, cool in summer, full of atmosphere. And, a cleverly designed modern, top floor terrace room with a second kitchen and marvellous views. In the middle a spacious bedroom with lots of closet space. Doors and fitting well made, especially in the generous shower room. A delight. We would be glad to live there!
