Great location

Good location close to everything in Antigua. We enjoyed our stay except that the sofa in the living room smelled really bad & in bad condition. Besides that everything was good. The host was very responsive & quick to fix issues. Our electricity went out one evening & fixed right away the next day so yes I would recommend.

Almost perfect

The property was very well kept and maintained. It was roomy and comfortable. The only complaint was the fans. The wether was hot so we used the fans which seemed to time out. We had to keep waking up to restart them.

Mold

When we entered the property there was the presence of a strong odor of mold. We thought perhaps the house just hadn't been used in a while so we opened the door for Aaron ventilation. Unfortunately when we went upstairs we discovered that the bathroom ceiling was covered with black mold. We contacted management and she sent someone to clean it and disinfect it. Unfortunately that meant that the property was unavailable to us for a number of hours. When we returned the smell was still present although it was better. It was obvious it had been cleaned but it was not gone by any means. The bathroom light fixture still had mold all over it and it appeared inside as well. The walls and ceiling upstairs had a number of dirty areas. We just were not comfortable with the cleanliness level. We have stayed in other properties in Antiqua and never had this problem. The only restroom is upstairs and there is not an adequate hand rail. The property owner would be smart to invest in a strong vent in the restroom. The bed was okay...just ok. Couch was a bit run down...just needs an update. We only stayed 2 nights and would not visit again. Be ready to fill out paperwork when you arrive at the security gate. This is something that could have been emailed or sent ahead of time to be filled in. The description of the property and what it entails just needs to be updated.

Luxury without paying too much

After spending a week at beautiful Lake Atitlan in mediocre conditions we splurged a bit and booked this beautiful unit. What a nice surprise! The property and unit were exquisite. Having a hot shower and comfy bed were a luxury we hadn't experienced since leaving home, best nights sleep in a week. We were allowed check in early and since we were there on Sunday the shuttle was not running but we found that the walk in to town wasn't that bad. We also walked back after dark and never felt threatened. Once back on-site we sat out by the pool and enjoyed a glass of wine and the beautiful weather. We only had one issue with the wifi password but the pool had open wifi. I was able to use it and send a note to the owner, she was very quick to respond and send me the updated wifi password and we were connected in no time. Our only regret is that we weren't able to spend an extra night! Highly recommend!

Nice complex. Very well maintained. Very good staff.

Overall we enjoyed staying here. We had "technical " issues. The TV did not work for the first two weeks and finally was replaced with a new one. The hot water went out so we were without for a day. The owner was good about getting things done but it was still frustrating.

Why they chose this property

Villa Catalina is a longtime dream come through. It is also a joint project together with friendster and family to be able to enjoy a cozy place located in one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the world. But algo a strong desire to share It with visitors and special guests from all over the world

What makes this property unique

When I first saw Villa Catalina caught my attention because It is a well designed Villa located in a beautiful sourroundings with delicate accents from colonial times. The Villa allows for the combination of modern day appliances and design place in a more rustic overall setting. The exterior walls of the Villa are painted in yellow. The special feature are that It is sourrounded by beautiful gardens, fountains and the historic aquaduct.
