About this property

A beautiful cottage in the heart of the New Forest and a short drive to beaches

April Cottage is a comfortable cosy two bedroomed terrace cottage, set in the middle of the delightful village of Everton with our friendly local shop and pub offering scrumptious local produce.

Nestled in the heart of the New Forest, with only a short drive to the beaches, open forest and the charming market town of Lymington with it’s picturesque town quay, boutique shops and bustling Saturday market. The cottage has a sitting/dining room with a separate kitchen, conservatory and boot room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin) with a shower room. There is a walled garden at the rear and a front garden with gravel parking for 2 cars.

Milford On Sea and Keyhaven is 'just down the road'; offering village shops, beaches, cafe's, pubs and restaurants. By taking a short walk/drive to Keyhaven, you will find a traditional pub and a beautiful walk along the sea wall, enjoying the spectacular views of the Solent, the Needles and Isle of Wight. Bird watchers will particularly enjoy the salt pans and marshes that are renowned for their bird-life. You can take a ferry from Keyhaven harbour to Hurst Castle and if you are feeling energetic you can walk back along shingle bank.

In the other direction is Christchurch and Bournemouth with long golden sandy beaches, theatres, pubs, restaurants and a buzzing nightlife.

Lovely
Lovely property, a shame the local pub was shut as that was one’s one of the reason we booked it to be able to walk back after a meal and drink.

A fine house, although we would not have named it a cottage. It lays nice central for the sea and New Forest, and we had a nice time there.

Beautiful cottage but.......
On arrival we found the most beautiful cottage setting in lovely gardens which we found were superb. Interior was lovely and homely. First night was very disappointing 15 tog duvet all round far too hot Got in touch with owners regarding summer duvet but they did not respond to direct message until late in the evening via VRBO saying no, so had to purchase our own. Only one bedside table which was inconvenient. Staying for a week so did a full shop to eat in, unfortunately no cupboard to store groceries so items had to be stored over limited worktop space. Washing machine and dishwasher on together left a nasty stagnant smell from drain in conservatory. Filter in tumble dryer was filthy and needed a thorough clean. Fridge door had mould on outside seal, and we feel that the whole place needed a more thorough clean. On the day of leaving we received a message from the owner informing us that they will be arriving between 9.00-9.30am to cut the grass, we said no because of the dog in the back garden. This we found very annoying as any work should be done after our 10.00am checkout. Overall a lovely holiday was had by all, in the New Forest but will not return to April Cottage and would not recommend.

New Forest Trip
The property was lovely and exceeded all our expectations. A great local pub and fantastic cornershop also came in very handy. The pictures of the property on the website don't do it justice. The garden and house were much bigger than expected. The bed was also super comfy. We had a dog with us and apart from all the great beaches and the forest there is a park around the corner from the house, which is really handy for early morning or last minute walkies.

Lovely cottage.
Delightful, cosy, comfy cottage. Sunny garden. Beautifully peaceful. Perfect for 2 or 3 max. 2nd bathroom is a downstairs loo. 3 houses away is a Londis that sells gourmet food! Short drive to beaches, surrounding areas full of beach bars and good restaurants. Very upmarket region. Time for new mattresses in the twin room-a bit uncomfortable. However-it's really lovely. Hosts lovely. We checked in a 12 because we were passing by and it seemed ready, which was fab. Everyone we met was friendly. Book this and a 3 day pottery making course at Vinegar Hill Pottery-a 5 minute drive away.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen. Very quiet location. Very Close to a village pub and a local shop. Easy to reach Mudeford beach and the heart of the new forest. Lymington is great place to browse around many different shops.

Comfy bolthole in the New Forest
We enjoyed our short stay in the cottage, which provided most of what we needed to make our stay comfortable. We did have to buy our own kindling and wood so we could make a fire - there's a local shop that sells everything.

New Forest experience
The rental was in an ideal situation, as we wanted to go on beautiful walks, and drove to Bramshaw to see the pigs, and donkeys roaming about the New Forest. In the evening we ate at the Crown, and various other nice goody pubs. The rental was comfortable and well furnished, everything we could have wanted. Even the weather was kind to us. In all a great experience. John

Lovely property
We had a lovely holiday in the New Forest. Property had a great location near the National Park and beaches. Homely and clean with an enclosed rear garden which was a plus for the family dog. Fantastic views overlooking the Isle of Wight which was a short drive from the property Would definitely recommend a visit and we hope to return soon.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the New Forest when we used to bring the children here for beach and forest holidays. We moved here 18 years ago and live just around the corner in Everton. We love the lifestyle being near the coast and New Forest - we enjoy sailing and all things boats as well as long walks with our dogs on the forest.

What makes this property unique

We bought April Cottage in 2016 and spent the early part of 2017 renovating the cottage. Everton is an extremely friendly village with lovely local facilities. We loved this cottage because of its beautiful rooms and private walled garden to the rear that leads out on to a lovely lane with a short walk to the local pub for a lunch or evening meal. The village is incredibly well positioned for access to both the coast and forest.
